Dotted throughout Metaphor’s dungeons are what Studio Zero calls “Elmentas.” These dungeon enemies are similar to the Wealth Hands from the Persona franchise, giving decent gold when you kill them.

Unlike the Hands from Persona, however, the Elmentas don't fight back, and you have 1 turn to destroy them or they run.

Thankfully, if you have a Mage on your team, you should be golden, as they come in various different colours  which correspond with their weakness. For instance, a Green Elmenta is weak to lightning, while a Blue one is weak to fire, and so on. 

So, when you come across one, make sure you have damage dealers that can take advantage of their weaknesses before you enter into combat with them using the  button when close enough.

You'll find Elmentas not only in dungeons, but also during ambushes while you roam the nights in your Gauntlet Runner. Simply destroy 10 of these Elementas and the ‘Stray Elements’ achievement is all yours.
