How to unlock the Manhattan Project achievement in Metro 2033 Redux - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be done on multiple levels, although it is recommended to try on "Dead City", where there are 3+ hotspots.

A hotspot can be identified by a beeping noise on your watch which has a built-in Geiger counter. The first one can be found after going into the first building after you gain access to the outdoors. Upon entering the building, you can jump onto the ATM and then jump through the broken glass into a small room with a dead soldier and a red safe key. This room is a radiation hotspot, and you will begin to take damage upon entering it. To stay alive you will need to space out 3-4+ medkits about 15 seconds apart, and continuously change your gas mask filters. After 60 seconds, you will unlock the achievement.

There are also another two areas near a car that is parked near the playground, and inside of an upstairs room where you can find a bolt gun, which can be viewed in the video.

Some additional information is that the 60 seconds is cumulative.

In my first playthrough I had a total of 57 seconds spent in radiation zones, after reaching "dead city" in my second playthrough I needed 3 more seconds to unlock this.

For me the easiest place to knock this out is the Dead City mission. When you first enter the far building after separating from your companion, you'll come into the 'lobby' area and see a set of windows straight ahead that sort of look like bank tellers' booths. The left-most window is open and you can climb through it and into the room to find a body on the far side. You'll start taking damage as soon as you enter, so just keep going in and waiting 5 or 6 seconds, then jumping out to let your health regenerate. Rinse and repeat until it unlocks.

You can see it at the 24:17 mark in the video. I actually enter the radiation spot and point out the achievement at 24:32, but it helps to start at 24:17 to see me entering the building so you know exactly where I'm at.

Radiation Hotspots are commonly found in Chapters set on the surface, you know when you are inside one as your watch beeps and you begin to take damage. There are plenty of locations to get this but the easiest is in the Dead City, refer to the below video from Maka91Productions:

Radiation Hotspots are frequently found during any the missions that take place above ground. You will know when you are near/inside one when your watch starts to beep rapidly and you begin to take damage.

The earliest and easiest time to get this achievement done is when you are on the "Dead City" level. For preparation, you’ll definitely want to bring four to five Medkits and plenty of gas mask filters. The video below details perfect spots within the "Dead City" to get this achievement done so refer below if necessary.

This achievement is rather simple as both standard grenades and sticky grenades can be frequently found on fallen enemies or traps throughout the game. In fact, they can also be purchased at the vendors in friendly metro stations for an inexpensive price.

The blast radius of grenades is powerful enough to take out enemies with ease and multi-kills will help conserve grenade ammunition. Overall, “Frontline” is by far one of the best levels to work on this achievement. There are plenty of Fascist soldiers to kill while working towards the "Hedge-hopper" achievement. Once you have killed at least thirty enemies with either type of grenade, the achievement will unlock.

There is also a place between the two exits from the passage, where a demon sits, eating the stalker’s corpse. We go forward and go down into the passage, where on the right side there should be a pipe with which you can climb to the second floor of the destroyed building. There we find Helsing for the first time and receive a huge dose of radiation. The main thing is not to stay too long in this place, as the radiation there is really powerful. Also, if you go a little further along the level and leave the basement of the house, you can stand in puddles of radiation.

Level " Dead City 1 ".
Once separated from Bourbon and entered the building by jumping over the destroyed ATM, behind the glass counter there will be a place full of radiation. Stand there for a minute. Stock up on first aid kits.
