How to unlock the Raider achievement in Metro 2033 Redux - Definitive Guide

During beginning of the level DEPOT, you will be inside of a railcar heading down a track. Just take out a good long distance weapon, and face forward in the railcar. Your teammate will mention that you should "be ready for anything". After the railcar takes a left turn, aim forward and keep an eye out for a light source. As soon as you can see a light, aim at it and shoot it to kill the enemy with the headlamp.

You can use a good 1-shot kill weapon, aim for the head, use military grade ammo or even shoot the enemies leg to slow them down. Kill them before they reach the station to unlock the achievement. Load Last Checkpoint if you fail.

I can't get this cheevo to pop. I've killed him several times well before he even starts running back to the base. I've used different weapons, etc. Any suggestions?

Note the word silently. You can use MGRs to boost damage, but it must be with a silenced weapon for the achieve to pop. I personally used a Tihar I had leftover from Frontline Shooting him with a loud weapon alerts the next section, and I would imagine also voids the achievement

Just to add to my above comment, you can find a Tihar just before this section at the end of Trolley combat and as a final note, since the X1 achieve system is so buggy just check it's not sitting at 100% and just not popping. If that's the case just wait it out, at some point the system will realise what's gone on and it'll pop

I used a sub-machinegun with a scope. Not silent. Cheev popped.

I couldn't get it to work with the Kalash for some reason, and I even managed to hit him with a throwing knife one time and still didn't get it. First time I tried killing him with the Revolver though it worked. Seems a tad bit buggy.

Just to add in unison with pretty much everyone above I tried this achievement about 5 separate times with an assortment of silent weapons and never got the achievement. So at my wits end I just decided to try a regular old unsilenced AK just to see if it would work and killed the guard and the achievement instantly popped so I think the whole "take him out silently thing" is glitched or just doesn't matter.

Silent scope AK still doesnt works.
Revolver Silent with weak zoom works.

Right at the start of Depot you'll be on a railcar. It will make a couple of turns then straighten out and you'll see a light in the distance. Aim a rifle straight ahead at the middle of the tracks about chest-height and your crosshairs should turn red. Fire quickly, and if you kill the guard on the tracks before you get too close this achievement will unlock.

I've created a full Enlightened playthrough video showing almost every Moral Point in the game as well as pointing out items of interest, such as this achievement.

You can see the full Depot mission with all items of interest and collectibles at the 1:12:47 mark in the video.

On the Mission Depot while you're still on the railcar you'll see a nazi in the distance simply kill him, and the achievement should pop

Fairly early on in this level, you will need to kill a lone solider who is positioned on the rail tracks. After the cart makes its first right, and then a quick left, be ready to aim down the sights with your weapon – using a loud weapon here is absolutely fine. You will spot the enemy from a distance due to the bright white light on his helmet. As soon as you see this, fire a single bullet or two and without much effort, you should be able to kill him and unlock the achievement right away.

Near the start of the level, there will be a lone soldier stood on the tracks in the distance, you can easily spot him due to the light on his helmet. You must kill him before he notices you and raises the alarm. This can be done with any weapon loud or silenced. Video courtesy of PowerPyx:
