How to unlock the Enlightened achievement in Metro 2033 Redux - Definitive Guide

Unlike Last Light, I do not believe that the Moral Points in 2033 have varying degrees of significance. Therefore for this one, it is likely just a matter of collecting the 'majority' of them in order to obtain Enlightened. The above solution is great for a text guide you can follow along, but for those that prefer a video walkthrough I thought I'd put this up since I spent a long time recording and editing this longplay video.

You won't know until the final level if you've earned it. If you hear the dark ones whispering 'he is here, he can understand us' as you're going up the tower, BEFORE they start saying 'he has come to destroy us', you'll know you've got it. After the vision with the Dark One at the end of this final mission (Tower), shoot the target locator with your pistol. If you wait too long or shoot the Dark One it won't unlock (although shooting the Dark One is a way to unlock 'If it's hostile, you kill it' once you've gotten this one).

Unfortunately we don't have a definitive answer on how many that majority is. I actually thought I did a pretty good job of getting at least 60% of them my first run, but in so doing I did not get the achievement. So I elected to record a full playthrough getting nearly every possible Moral Point in the game, as well as locating all Diary Pages and pointing out various other achievements along the way.

All of my flashes were white. Thisnone is listed as a positive point on the wiki page.... I dunno lol but it worked.

I do believe talking to that woman sitting outside the hospital gives you a negative moral point.

The screen flashes white, which indicates a negative moral point.

The above guide is far too detailed with lots of unecessary requirements (get all ranger stashes in dead city for example, you only need 3 specific ones.)

Follow this similar, yet more simplified, guide by the letter. I even missed a few at the start and some didn't work in the middle, and I just unlocked the achievement:

Edited to remove confusion:

If you get the Enlightened achievement FIRST, you can get the "bad" ending by continuing afterwards. The only way you get to take the shot is if you get enough Moral Points.

What I'm saying is that in 2033, you can get both endings in one playthrough, but if you only get the bad ending, you don't get the cutscene and you have to replay. In Last Light you don't have the option, you HAVE to replay the whole game.

To do this, press Continue when back to the main menu after,

Then, the second time through,

Then stay for the ending. toast

How were you able to shoot the Dark One after getting back to the tower? It went from the cinematic of going back to the credits cutscene before I had the chance.

No, you can definitely get it on either playthrough. I did both endings in the two different Last Light runs.

This method does indeed work, I just did it. To do it, you have to have earned the requirements for the Enlightened achievement. On my first ending, I shot the aiming device and earned "Enlightened", then I hit continue from the main menu and was put back at the end of vision and shot the dark one this time around instead of the device and earned "If it's hostile, you kill it." Great job poster. Thumbs up from this guy.

This doesn't really even matter does it? Since you'll have to complete the game twice anyways. For Survival and then Spartan?

This trophy can be obtained by getting enough "Moral Points" in the game. You will notice that your screen flashes when you get a Moral Point (or if you lose one).

Here is a great Moral-Point-guide for both Metro games:

Try to get as many as possible - you don't need them all. It's also possible to lose Moral Points through certain actions - try to avoid these!

Missable!

This trophy is obtained for achieving the games 'good' ending by sparing the the Dark Ones in the Tower chapter at the end of the game. If you have accumulated enough moral points over the course of the game, once you awaken from the dream sequence a Dark One will say 'we want peace' and you will see another trying to reach for the targeting system, simply shoot it with your Revolver right away to destroy the system and earn the trophy.

Moral points are sort of a hidden counter used to trigger this ending, they do not do anything outside of that, without enough moral points you will trigger the 'Ranger' ending voiding this trophy and will require another playthrough. Therefore I strongly recommend you take heed of the below information.

You can earn moral points by:

  • Talking and listening to NPC conversations
  • Obeying NPC orders, especially Khan
  • Not shooting Dark ones
  • Exploring hidden paths in various chapters
  • Interacting with objects, such as Artyoms Guitar
  • Giving bullets to beggars

Bear in mind that a few of the moral do not seem to exist in Redux or have changed slightly, rest assured there are still easily more than enough moral points to unlock this ending!

This video guide (courtesy of Korbek) takes you through the whole game showing all the morale points, following it will ensure you get enlightenment. In addition you will also get all collectibles, and the guide will also point out any miscellaneous achievements along the way. He will also point out areas where its easy to get some of the fighting/shooting achievements.

I do want to caution those who played Last Light and got the trophy for enlightenment there, its significantly easier, in 2033 you can risk the trophy by missing even one or two morale points while in last light you could skip a lot. Also like mentioned in the other solution some things make you lose points, one example is in Riga there are cash rounds/military rounds besides the guide playing the guitar outside of your dads office, if you take those the screen flashes red and you a lose a point.

In addition, Korbek also has a guide on his page that shows how to get most of the other achievements, just follow the video to his page and there should be another video called Misc Achievements or something similar.

Additionally if playing the double game Redux package there is also a guide for last light including bonus levels.

Edit: Although I don't currently have the trophy, you can check my true achievement, using the same guide I 100% both last light and 2033 on the xbox one. I also used his guide for last light on the ps3. I am currently playing through redux on the ps4.

1st - the missiles reached the target

2nd (this trophy) - you shot at the missile guidance device that you installed yourself

She herself received this trophy on her second playthrough, simultaneously collecting trophies on the easiest difficulty for killings with different weapons and collecting money and everything else, killing everything that moved, did not give money to anyone (only she did not take it from her mother), as a result of the scene at the end there were others and they let me shoot at the device, so perhaps the stealth passage and mercy do not affect, if you go through the 2nd time they will give the opportunity for this ending.

a direct path to getting a trophy - stealth passage, if we hit the enemy, just not lethally from the back with a fist, we also don’t kill monsters unnecessarily if they don’t climb on their own (sometimes you can run from them, and, say, Khan, will do everything for you , a level with an anomaly in the tunnel. We give cartridges to everyone who can (but personally, I’m sure that I could have missed a couple of homeless people), I myself received a trophy on the first playthrough, since I didn’t kill anyone in the entire game)

Getting this ending is a priority.
It would be logical to assume that this ending is revealed when the good karma outweighs the bad. Even killing most of the people did not exclude the possibility of getting a "good" ending.
Good karma (white screen flashes) is given for:

  • playing musical instruments (first guitar and balalaika)
  • listening to monologues and dialogues
  • exploring the world, finding hiding places
  • charity
  • rescue of prisoners
  • completing chapters without killing people

Many people write not to take risks, not to kill monsters, to go through in stealth... I killed all the monsters in a row, I also passed through stealth with kills, I only completed the “Black” level without killings. The only thing I used was a video guide on good deeds, I tried to do everything at all. At the end the blacks were saying “we need to stop him”, “you can’t let him” and all that, generally aggressive. They gave me a shot at the targeting device after killing a black man in hallucinations, got a good ending.

The conditions for getting a good ending are quite unclear. According to video guides, people suggest looking for all the places with good deeds and doing them, not killing people, etc.
I just finished it, according to the plot I can remember I just helped three people (trophy), passed the front line undetected, Chernaya station without stunning or killing, didn’t kill librarians in the Library, didn’t take bullets from the mother for saving a child. That's it, otherwise I shot at everyone and everything, in the end they let me shoot at the launcher.

Guys, don’t take risks, Stealth, replay missions without killing people (or with a minimum of killings, I killed about 20 people, but I could have done with three), bypass or stun, run away from mutants, watch guides, do good deeds based on them and you will succeed. A sure sign of a good ending is when after “Black” there is a pacifying vision.
The only thing that I didn’t manage to do according to the guides was earn karma for listening to trumpets after Bourbon’s story (and this already worked with Khan) and on Chernaya I collected +1 to karma, and not +5 as is possible there.

If you have done few good deeds throughout the game, then after killing the black one you will not have the opportunity to destroy the guidance device.

So help the poor, don’t take money from your mother, fulfill the requests of the NPC and everything will be fine with you.

As I understand it, you can kill everyone, with the exception of some moments (like a guardian mother protecting her cubs (and that’s not a fact)). The main thing is to go through stealth, explore levels, listen to dialogues and do good deeds. But after playing through the original Metro 2033 dozens of times, I discovered a certain pattern: it seems that the game sums up peculiar flashes for different actions and if there are enough of them for a good ending, then you get it. Also, in all visions, I advise you to go to the black ones. If you get a good ending, you can also get a bad ending by simply starting from the checkpoint and replaying the level.

I reached the end, did good deeds, they showed a video of the war between people and mutants, but I know for sure that I missed a couple of dialogues. But on the tower the blacks still said, “Stop him! He has come to destroy us!” Hunter gave us a revolver, we kill the black man and gave us the opportunity to shoot at the device! And a trophy for a good ending! So "Stop him! He has come to destroy us!" not an indication that they won’t give the trophy.

Above there was a link to a video guide, it’s best to navigate accordingly. I didn’t kill anyone, I gave money to the beggars, I didn’t take it from my mother, and as a result, again, a bad ending and +1 to the passage. The whole point was that I ran through everything quickly, and therefore did not receive karma benefits for listening to dialogues and various situations. On my own behalf, I’ll add that you can understand whether there will be a bad ending after the Black chapter. There will no longer be an opportunity to do good deeds. So, there will be a vision, if you have a good ending available, then there will be something like falling leaves and a quote from Khan.

I don’t know why no one pointed out that you don’t have to replay the entire game to get a good ending, I’ll describe the situation:
(I don’t know how autosaves work, I haven’t tested them, I haven’t read them)

- completed the game on a ranger, with iconic moments: at the first levels I gave out bullets to everyone, the boy walked me through, played instruments, listened to some dialogues, collected half of the notes and climbed more than half of the caches with a flash of karma, not a single one was able to get through stealth level, killed almost everyone. in the end it was not possible to get the ending.

BUT

- began to collect notes from the first levels and in order. basically rushed, killed everyone, passed the front line for the last time, killing everyone (I don’t know if it has an effect or not), took a trophy in a dead city, and also saw a black one appear twice (in the house and in the gateway, through the fence where there will be bourbon later ), watched the entire animation but didn’t shoot, killed the beast of three cubs, saw all the glitches of the past + highlighted the hanged man

interesting further
- began to finish off the rest of the notes from Turgenev , skipping levels 3-4 after the previous chapter downloads. blah-blah-blah, rush-rush, I collect what I come across from hiding places, if I see the keys to safes, I take them, outpost - I inserted a cassette and shot some, ran through some, and then I went through the black one without touching anyone, at the end of the level I just ran through... in the end. I see a “good cartoon” with green trees. Then he decided to finish it off to the end, didn’t touch the librarians at all, crawled where he could - he rushed everything and didn’t touch anyone, listened to Khan in the temple , and continued collecting notes and hiding places that he came across.

In general, on the tower I saw a diorama “how people fight with animals” - already a sign.
In the end, I reached the end and was given the opportunity to shoot at the guidance device .

so, it’s most likely just a matter of black (passing without touching anyone) and listening to Khan. This is an important basis, the rest is the usual, quite detailed walkthrough for searching.

I tried to get a good ending with a second playthrough. As a result, I got a bad result (I didn’t go through it again, but loaded the chapter “Tunnel to Kievskaya” and in a vision, at the beginning of the level, I immediately went towards the black ones. Before this chapter, I listened to outside conversations whenever possible. I extinguished the mutants, the fascists at the level " Outpost" extinguished. At the level of a dead city, a female with cubs extinguished. I took the cartridges from the mother. In general, I won’t say that I did only good deeds, throughout the entire passage. When I climbed the tower, the blacks said: “You can’t let him, stop him” or something something like that. But in the end, in the final scene, the game allowed me to shoot at the guidance device and I received a trophy.

You don’t need to do anything to unlock the endings, I played through the game several times myself, tested different actions... Just get to the end, you can take all the cartridges they give you (even from your mother), they will still let you shoot at the targeting device... It was even original metro 2010... So play and don't worry...

Absolutely not relevant for 2023.
On the second playthrough I ran through the game like a complete nit. Constantly received dark flashes.
Result : after killing Black, a cut-scene immediately started, with no choice .
