How to unlock the Explorer achievement in Metro 2033 - Definitive Guide

I got this on my 5th attempt. Most of the guides above are good to a point but didn't unlock the achievement.

Explorer, as the names suggests, is granted for exploring. Some of these explorations result in ammunition, some result in Discovery Points (screen flash and noise), some in nothing at all.

It is NOT linked directly to pick-ups. The achievement popped for me on Outpost having jumped out of one of the windows to use a wooden boardwalk (this wasn't where the game wanted me to go). It popped without picking anything up or doing anything else bar enter this area.

So, take what you want from the other guides, but I suggest following this excellent guide to a tee - do absolutely everything mentioned and you will get the achievememt

http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/935091-metro-2033/faqs/59427 - full credit to Matthew Y Brown & gamefaqs

I would also suggest a little extra exploring as I found a couple of areas not included in the guide. It is also worth mentioning I did not knock every door, or listen to every conversation. On level "War", "Frontline", I sneaked through the level first picking up 3 Discovery Points, then killed absolutely everyone and exploring every inch top-side. I then used the pipes to exit the level via the manhole.

Given this was my 5th attempt I had also deleted every single save file for the game and started as new on easy - there is no way to verify whether or not this affected the achievement popping.

Archived version of the guide - http://web.archive.org/web/20111220083821/http://www.gamefaq...

I got this by simply exploring on my own initiative. It unlocked on Chapter 4 Black Station on my very first play through. I killed all the guards and was snooping around in some toilets a bit before where you reach the car at the end. Be inquisitive, explore as much as you can and it should pop up.

Guide is great up until a point and the author got lazy and his descriptions are pointless.

Minutes ago I received Explorer. I got it in Outpost. I went through the backyard area with the digger in it then it popped as I jumped through a window onto the wooden ruins/scaffolding.

I can safetly say this completely works i started a new game and followed the guide completely and it popped on outpost when i got into the first building after picking up some random revolver ammo.

One thing i would like to point out is on the level frontline what i did is stealthed the level completly to the end and before i went through the door to finish the level i turned around and went back and killed everyone and looted everything i could find(also I didnt save the red guy who is linked to the achievement.)

I also popped this with the guide during a new game on easy.
For me, it popped upon opening the crate on top of the Subway in Black Station.

*I did not stay hidden on most of the levels (don't think this matters).
*Killed all the Nazi's and Saved the Red's on Frontline.
*Counted 50 discovery points up until the cheese mint popped (I think I missed one).
*Grabbed a bit of ammo in places the guide missed (not much).

All in all it's pretty good and mostly accurate. It would be hard to follow on a first play through as some familiarity with the levels definitely helped.

The window (mentioned in the guide where HWNDarkside got the achievement) is on the top floor where the 3 tripwires "guard" a door, in that room there is a window and a hole in the wall. Jump through it on the wooden walkway... That's where I got it! Good luck all!!!!

Excellent guide, I followed it to the letter apart from accidently missing the bullets behind the pillow at the end of “Khan”. It unlocked on Outpost, not by jumping out of the window that DirtyGlashoop mentions but shortly after, where the guide tells you to drop through the hole where six alerted enemies are waiting. I ran into the first room on the left to chase down a Nazi soldier and Explorer popped. Just as well, I’d only got 4 minutes of filter time left :-)

Got it my third play-through in Caves. Right after the part where the door wont open all the way and you crawl under then it slams shut behind you. Follow the path to your right and there was a door to the left you have to shoot open and as soon as the first shot went into the door it popped.

thanks for the guide, am working my way through now. i did however took another aproach in chapter 3.1 (Dry) since a stealth aproach just didn't work for me. I killed all enemies and looted most ammo (i also ran into the maze to kill that hidden bandit and smoke a sisha :) ). Does anybody know id this affects the achievement in some way?

Update: I just got the achievement in Outpost like most people who follow this guide. Seems the non-stealth approach in chapter 3.1 doesn't affect the achievement. Thanks for posting this great guide, I finally have 1240/1240 on this game :)

I followed the guide but the achievement finally popped while climbing a ladder to the top of a subway car. this location was not in any of the guides. I can not remember what level is was on though. Like the guide says, you have to do a lot of EXTRA exploring.

First, you do not need to delete your save file. Just start a "New Game" and choose "Easy" difficulty. My achievement popped on Outpost when I picked up an arrow (on the middle stair inside the building). This pops up at different times depending on how you play. Rule of thumb, go EVERYWHERE to seek out AMMO pickups (including grenades and health packs). Look in every corner of every room/area. If you can't pick something up due to your inventory being full, (like knives, grenades, and health packs), waste them. Toss grenades, hurt yourself by standing on fire (or throwing a grenade close enough to you to harm you), toss knives, etc. so you can pick those items up. By the way, stealth has nothing to do with it. I killed everyone in my path. If you miss some ammo pickups, don't worry about. I did not play with a guide, but this was my 4th run thru the game, so I knew the secret areas well.

Things I did which may or may not effect the achievement:
There are red crates sitting on floors, and small red cabinets mounted to walls. Open all of them. This means you need to always scan walls in rooms/tunnels.

I interacted with as many objects as possible, like turning off lights, shooting teddy bears, strumming guitars, etc.

I agreed to go with the prostitute (she takes your gold ammo, but with all the ammo you will be collecting, it's negligible). I believe donating a bullet to one bum, and a bullet to the child, shows that you are wealthy, and the prostitute will make herself available. If you don't donate those 2 bullets, she will not appear. After she leaves, I entered her room and interacted with all objects (like the lights and record player.)

At Dead City 1, don't forget to drop down into the broken elevator shaft which leads to an ammo cache.

At Defense level, take the tape from the injured Captain after the battle, he'll try to hand it to you, and if you're not fast enough in taking it, he will set it down next to him. Grab it, and then go to the rooftop in Outpost and place the tape in the radio next to a satellite dish. This also unlocks the "DJ Artyom" achievement.

How I popped the achievement (in hopes it helps others): I followed the TA walkthrough, but would always loot enemies, and would always do some extra exploration myself even into dead-ends. I knocked on every door I saw, turned off every lamp I saw, and opened every red fusebox I saw. I would even climb every ladder I came across. It popped for me during 'Black Station', after looking at the ammo pack that's in the room right of the drunk Nazi who talks to himself sat down. This was my first ever playthrough, and I had attempted every achievement possible up until that point, and also used the Moral Points article of the Metro Wiki to discover extra 'flashpoints' that the walkthrough had missed. I suggest that if you're using the walkthrough, you look at the same article (http://metrovideogame.wikia.com/wiki/Moral_Points). Hoped this helps!!

It popped on my first playthrough in the "secret" room in Black Station. I was pretty thorough up to that point.
On Frontline, I fought my way through, but I dropped down into the tunnels for the "stealth" playthrough, although I didn't go the entire route. I only had my gas mask on for a short time, and then turned around.

I got it at black station, after the train roof box I searched the guy under the stairs nearby and got it then. However I did not touch the toy in the box or pay for the hooker back near the start so I guess that was why it popped after outpost. So all I can say is just keep going and searching and you will get it even if you missed a couple.

FINALLY!!!!!! Got mine at Outpost........I DID NOT start a brand new game, I actually (re)started from Exhibition......

Where I got mine in Outpost : the guide stated, "If you go back towards the building, there are some holes in the surface. There is one set of three holes surrounded by cars. Go down there to find a body with a "Bastard with silencer".", as soon as I picked up some ammo, it popped!!!! +1 for the great guide!!!

So helpful solution! Thank you very much!
Just popped right here
"Sneak across to the other room and loot the body. There's some revolver ammo in
the left corner by the windows. Sneak out of the room to the hallway and go
into the next room on the left. Hop up on the crate by the window and loot the
+4 BULLETS. Go out the window onto the wooden boards."

What a weird achievement, but this guide is spot on ! I went all guns blazing in Dry, Frontline and Outpost, so I didn't follow the guide exactly in these parts, but I looted all I could. I got the achievement by approaching a dead guy in Outpost, but before I could loot him.

I... Hate... This... Achievement...
It has not pooped, im at the start of black station. If it does not pop this time, I might put my controller through my tv. I have been to a lot of new places I have not been before. It didn't pop like in quickdraws video nor out the window as in this guide. Fuck this achievement

Awful achievement, my thanks to the comment section! I completed the game with the walkthrough from TA. Obviously, no Explorer achievement. Then I did Frontlines for the Hedge-hopper achievement and made sure I looked everywhere. After that I did Outpost and Black Station and continued until Library. And whaddaya know, got the cheevo exactly where Cellar Attic got it as well: In the big room where the demon attacks your teammate. Just looted the body that's lying on top of the first set of stairs. So happy to get this s***ty cheevo out of the way! :)

Also just want to point out I to followed this guide and did everything stealthy. Even on frontline I did the stealth approach. I did not go back to kill everyone or search for everything just followed the invisible part of the guide and the explorer achievement unlocked for me on outpost just after I jumped out the window onto the wooden boards. I did start a new game and followed guide from the beginning. Great guide.

I just got this on Outpost but nowhere near doing anything anyone has posted or anything I hadn't done in the past.

Mind you, I had already won every achievement minus this one. I bounced around every level after completing it trying to get achievements. So finally I decided to follow the archived guide word for word. It was a pain in the ass and very slow going.

I will say that out of all the playthroughs, I still managed to miss a few locations that the guide had highlighted which helped, for sure.

I remember I even landed at Riga station and I had already got the sherlock achievement so I skipped it by loading up the next chapter. Then I continued playing like normal.

I got to outpost and grabbed ammo off a dead body that I had already looted in the past several times over on different playthroughs and it popped there. My eyes went wide because I hadn't done anything special in this level I hadn't done before and when it popped I didn't know what the catalyst was.

Anyone stuck on this achievement I would suggest following the archived guide. Honestly it helps. You might run into a wall box or two (like I did) or find a subway car you didn't know you could loot or even gain access too.

Thank you for the archived guide! +1 Hope my comment helps someone out there.

Didn't follow any guides instead I just played the game.

Unlocked the explorer achievement when I was in the library looking for the D6 documents. Right after you when you use the chandelier to break open a door, then there was a fight and against a flying monster and one in the team gets wounded. I'm on my own as Miller is going to take home the wounded ranger for medical attention. Went upstairs to a body next to a window and there the achievement popped for me.

Probably helped that I have played this game twice before on my computer. And that I'm always looking around for ammo and supplies when I'm playing games. Most probably didn't find everything there is to loot but I guess I found a lot and it was enough for me to get the achievement during my first playthrough.

I have completed the Redux version twice before starting this one. So I already knew where to look for a lot of the stuff. To be honest, I did miss some stuff before reading up on some walkthroughs. Like this guide that mentioned there are two sides to the Alley level. There are three bodies down in the sewer area I never knew about before. Also I started killing all the Librarians so I could look around. I found two or three bodies right at the beginning of the two Librarian levels.

My achievement ended up popping on one of the last opportunities I believe. That is, when you are traveling to D6 and get separated from your squad and are locked in with the really tough mutant. I unlocked my achievement right at the start on the first body in the bathroom. I was very much relieved.

I had trouble getting this achievement as well. Took me nearly 2 days of troubleshooting but I finally got it after basically memorizing most of the game and figuring out how the game tallies progress for achievements. I think a more specific description for this achievement would have been:

"Explore the Metro by earning many Moral Points and picking up as many items as you can".

The game words it as "exploring" but in reality they want you to pick up most of the ammo sprawled throughout the game and also earn the majority of the moral points. This is why everyone seems to unlock the achievement at different points: because not everyone is obtaining the same amount of item pickups or moral points at the same point of the story as others. It does appear that the achievement accumulates these things before unlocking and the latest you can get it to unlock is during the 'Caves' mission. The exact amount of ammo pickups and moral points you need is unknown, so you should just try to get as many as you can until the achievement unlocks.

I'm quite convinced that if you want the Explorer achievement, simply follow these core principles:

1. Do it all within one continuous playthrough
You'll want to go for the Explorer achievement after starting a New Game save file. Do NOT load previous chapters! Select New Game from the main menu and then choose Easy difficulty. Now only play forward through the entire game while also accumulating as many item pickups and moral points as possible.

2. Grab all ammo pickups
Pick up every single bullet and ammunition cache you can find. Check every single corpse you come across and take the time to search every nook, cranny, and deviating path. This includes shelves, containers, alcoves, and anywhere else as I've found some ammo pickups hidden just out of plain sight but at the right angle, were clearly visible to see. You should also be picking up all the gold ammo found throughout the stations from the Sherlock achievement.

3. Trigger Every Moral Flashpoint
Perform as many good deeds as possible and trigger those flashes to get moral points. This shouldn't be too difficult if you've already obtained the Enlightened ending. The requirements for triggering the moral points should still be fresh in your mind now just perform the appropriate actions of obtaining them while also picking up every piece of ammo you can find. You don't need all of them, but try to trigger as many as possible.

After reading through the entirety of the comments, I've deduced that both ammo pick ups and moral points count toward the Explorer achievement. So you'll want to obtain as many of both as possible. After starting a new playthrough, I played through the game all in one sitting up to Chapter 4 which is where my achievement unlocked. It popped during the 'Black Station' mission after triggering the Moral Point for accessing the hidden room behind some crates that contains a Charles Darwin book.

I know people above said they got it using Chapter Select, but judging by the fact that other "cumulative" achievements seem to only unlock after playing multiple stages forward in sequence, I think it's safer to go for this achievement all in one continuous playthrough. You don't have to do it all in one sitting like me; you can do it in multiple sessions so long as you resume by selecting 'Continue' from the main menu. Loading previous checkpoints is totally fine though.

I missed a couple flashpoints during a chapter, but looted every body (including my 'teammates') and scoured every level like a hawk for ammo caches. Got it on level 4.6 after grabbing some ammo off a shelf. This proves 3 things: bad karma from team-looting doesn't spoil the achievement, you don't need every flashpoint, and scattered ammo does contribute to the achievement

Followed the archived Gamefaqs guide and got it while looting the big building on the left near the start of Outpost.

I did the kill everyone path on Frontlines and deviated somewhat during that and other levels with human enemies, in that I went in guns blazing rather than stealthy.

followed the guide and the achievement unlocked in chapter 4-2
when I carried the boy, after choosing the right path and going through the water at the end. before going up on the platforms, I got some ammo from the guy on the left near a "pool"...
only thing I did different from the guide was playing frontiline killing everyone and taking all possible trucks and ammunition
I also started a new save from scratch.

I got it on level outpost in my 2nd play. I just searched everywhere and also use a guide for the hidden ammo(sherlock achievement). If u enter in a room run to each corner and pick up everyhing u can. It takes like 5-6 hours to do.

using this guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/935091-metro-2033/faqs/59869

some of those i probably got but the rest of them in the guide i got. most of them are easy, the only tough ones are the ones you have to go stealth and listen to the people talk for (frontlines, black station)

i started following that guide around armory, but following sherlock along the way so i got to most of the hidden areas. i listened to everyone talk in the beginning of the game.

hope that helps, i know how tough this one can be to pop

If you didn't pop this, try Cellar Addict's solution (second solution) along with this FAQ. It popped for me right where he said it would. Honestly, it might be a bug. You just load up Black Station and follow the guide. It unlocks in Library.

For anyone who reads this now - probably you have some troubles with this achievement and played through the game at least once (me - three times), and this one is really elusive and not clearly understandable cheevo. Follow the guide, no need in extra exploring, no need in sneaking and playing stealthy. Just got it before the mentioned spot by Darkside, but still inside the building in Outpost. Go step by step according to the guide and you'll get it for sure!

I just unlocked this after starting new game and it popped on Outpost when looting ammo from dead stalker underneath the place where you go to second floor. I didn't knock any doors or talked with random NPCs. I collected all Sherlock ammo and almost all dead city loot. Maybe I missed few things but I totally explored every inch of maps like Frontline and Hole station. Last one is full of loot so be careful to loot it. And I suggest that you start new game with easy because that way you have plenty of time with gas mask and you can just kill everything easily and focus on loot and exploration.

I got this at caves at the start picking up some ammo. I played multiple levels couple times to remember where bodies and stashes were and started a new game remembering the locations of it this is a pain cause you have to get majority of the stuff discovered I was getting worried if it didn’t unlock as I was nearing the end of the game but thank god it did. Would recommend getting all dead city stashes I got a few and didn’t bother with all and the chest on the train at black station because I didn’t get that one either or I’m sure it would’ve popped earlier. Once you play through a few times you get an idea of the items and hopefully it helps because that’s what I can say worked for me mostly.

I just got the achievement. I got it by following the guide to the letter (the archived, original version I've linked above). I got it at what appears to be the same spot as many others here; in Outpost, in the building, on the second floor, when going outside on the wooden boards. Specifically, in the guide, when it says:

"Sneak across to the other room and loot the body. There's some revolver ammo in
the left corner by the windows. Sneak out of the room to the hallway and go
into the next room on the left. Hop up on the crate by the window and loot the
+4 BULLETS. Go out the window onto the wooden boards."

I got it at the part in bold in the above quote.

Also, if anyone is like me, and can't stand the font used in the guide, I copied and pasted it into Word and changed the font to something easy on the eyes (Calibri).

Good luck to everyone else who still needs this achievement!

got it on "outpost" on my third pt using chapter select. During my first pt I didn't care about scavenging and exploring, the 2nd pt was aimed mostly at getting morality points (for "enlightened"), plus some deeper exploration, but I still missed tons of stuff. I started my 3rd pt from the chapter "dead city": I followed the guide for the "ranger" achievement, and then continued from there. I tried to explore every corner of each map (didn't follow any guide), while still missing some discovery points (for instance, the deserter being executed on "frontline").

Finally the achievement popped on outpost while checking out the small "shrine" on the stairs in the main building (there are a few candles IIRC, plus some ammo). Because I selected chapters, instead of restarting a fresh pt, this confirms that canceling your save doesn't guarantee any benefit, in case you've missed the achievement the first (or second) time. Quite the contrary, I'd say. I've noticed that the game saved a few times - when I was exploring new areas - even though that wasn't a checkpoint (I know for sure because I've died shortly after and respawned in a previous area). I guess that there is some sort of (additional in respect to checkpoints) save system that updates the "checklist" for the exploration %.

That would make sense, considering that the game seems to use 3 different saves: one for "preferences", one for each individual level, and one for the purpose of continuing from the last checkpoint. Long story short, if you're sure that you've been diligent up until a certain point, feel free to restart from there (as many other players have already suggested and confirmed). The game will keep track of your exploration % in previous (and probably subsequent) levels.

Deleting the save files from any console menu doesn't seem necessary. I used level select to go to Chapter 1 - Exhibition after finishing my first playthrough and just combed and combed my way through every level. Reading guides seemed exhausting so I just went on without them (except for Sherlock achievement ammo and Dead City Ranger achievement guides) on and on checking every corner, every small container on the walls, every footlocker I could find, checked every ladder, jumped down every survivable hole (that are not lurker holes) to check for anything.

On Ghosts and Anomaly, I checked the ends of the tunnels in the spots where there weren't any immediate threat from the ghosts or anomalies. On Frontlines, I killed everyone first, then went down to the glowy smoky areas to check every corner there, then climbed up the ladders next to the hostages to jump around on the pipes that seemed to go to nowhere, just twisting around on themselves.

Just be very hard on the lookout for any ways to find bodies that have ammo. The achievement may not be only about pickups but those absolutely do count as well.

Eventually on the Outpost level, after trying to comb through each room and corner of the main building, I reached the final bit before the end, killed the enemies and combed through the area with all the junk cars. I jumped down each small hole in the asphalt ( not the huge open-air-ones, but the ones that are like tiny tunnels between the cars) and one of them had a corpse with a few bullets on it. Grabbed those and got the achievement. So it seems the game does save your exploring across playthroughs, so don't delete your saves from any console menu or whatever, just load Chapter 1 - Exhibition, and start going through the game, checking everywhere. If you finish even the second playthrough without the achievement, maybe start loading up big levels ( Frontline, Outpost, Black Station, Library, Dead City 1) and just comb and comb your way through each small corner, hole, window, ladder, ramp, etc etc.

Also I'm pretty sure I found at least one gun or ammo pickup that wasn't in the ranger achievement in Dead City so check every corner, every room. My experience was that this is tough but doesn't require anything superhumanly impossible to be found.

This is a weird and cryptic one but it is doable. Believe in yourself!

First off, this isn't a solution so much as a clarification. This is a frustrating achievement, to say the least, as there are no clear indicators as to what satisfies "exploration." At any rate, read the below for a few tips, especially if you've already played through the main game convinced that you would get the achievement and it didn't pop.

I played through the entire game being very diligent in searching every area, and picking up everything I could. I found all the dead soldiers and caches, found all the Sherlock ammo, and did everything I was supposed to do for the Enlightened ending (which I did receive). But for some reason I didn't get the Explorer achievement. But the post above by Renown Spear about Black Station got me thinking. I basically just ran through the level to get the Merciful achievement, which meant that I missed out on a lot of stuff. This would prove to be the key, at least for me. So I loaded up Black Station again, killed every soldier, and took the time to explore the level thoroughly. I found everything, proceeded to Polis, and took a little extra time to check out the other side of the Alley level, finding a few new items along the way. Next was Library. I played up to the point where the Demon injures one of my comrades, checked a soldier for his ammo, and voila, chievo popped! So glad I don't have to play through the whole game again. What this also means is that saved games don't have to be deleted to earn the achievement, nor do you necessarily have to start from the beginning, especially if you've taken the time to earn the Metro Dweller, Sherlock, and Ranger achievements, and you've been fairly careful to search areas.

Sort of. For me personally, I played through the game diligently exploring each area in each map, with one exception: Black Station. The reason for this is that I rushed through the level in order to get the Merciful achievement (not killing any soldiers). I had read in a few other posts that I would have to play the game all over again in order to earn the achievement, but I decided to reload the game starting at Black Station so I could play through Library, just in case tracking for the Explorer achievement was cumulative or something.

So I played Black Station and checked out every nook and cranny, and also found a few new areas in Library, as I stated in my original post. The achievement popped for me after finding ammo on a dead soldier in the library itself, after the demon attacks one of your comrades. So basically what I'm saying is that you don't necessarily have to play the game all over from scratch in order to find all of the Explorer locations.

After reading this and the other solution, i went back and did frontline again (this time killing everyone, and exploring everywhere but the sneaky underside), then explored all of black station (first run thru i went for the merciful, ) , then played on and got everything onwards, then got to the cave and took the items from the first box on my right as you spawn, and the achievement popped. Praise the lord.laugh

Just to clarify exactly what I did, I had been very careful to explore everything the whole game, but it didn't unlock (2nd playthrough). So I loaded Black Station and followed this guide: http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/935091-metro-2033/faqs/59427

The achievement unlocked right after the demon attacks the NPC in Library.

Following this guide (including the gamefaqs guide too) I got this on my 2nd attempt during Chapter 4: Outpost. I followed the walkthrough from TA (owned by Jayour) on 1st attempt and missed out on the "Explorer" and "Ranger" achievements but got both of them using this guide, thanks, +1

Sorry to hear that. I think whether this achievement works for people or not in a partial playthrough is dependent on how thorough they explored prior to whatever level the "restart" the game from.

If this is your first playthrough, I would finish the game first. You might trigger the achievement this way. If not, then I would reload the game to Black Station. The achievement is highly contingent upon how thoroughly you've investigated the various levels up to that point, however.

Followed the TA walkthrough basically line by line, unlocking everything except this.
Went back and started at Black Station, killed everyone and took casual strolls through the whole map ... eventually got through library, no achievement. Took about an hour so definitely worth the attempt if you also missed this upon campaign completion.

Continued playing to "Cave" like Law Violation. This took an extra half hour on top of playing to the library.
Unlocked as soon as I picked up the ammo in the ammo box in the caged area to the right of spawning.

Dude, I gamelove you. Worked! I did the same thing with Black Station, Alley (didnt even know you could go to the other side), and Library. I got it just after the demon attack once I looted a dead body. As a note, I had not gotten Sherlock when I got this, so clearly that it is not necessary. It must be a counter of a certain amount of pickups.

I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yes this game does track exploration progress. I finished outpost, but wanting to be extra sure, I reloaded outpost was more dilligent than before but got nothing. Reading people saying its popped later had me hoping. I continuted on to black station. Killing and searching as usual. I was on the upper part of the station, went into a dead end room. Looked at a health pack that I could not pick up and POP!!

My previous comment hold true. You can reload if you have not finished the story. But as everyone has noted, it had to be on the same save file. Thank you Cellar. 100 positives for you!dancetoast

Popped mine at the beginning of 'Cave'. Just at the start there's a caged room on the left. I feel as if this Achievement is tracked by Explored %. Certain areas increase this % significantly where as other areas not as much.

I know that i have likely missed some places and areas just by reading through these guides and suggestions.

Its odd how some have popped this in Outpost compared ro where I am in the game now which brings my conclusion to explored %.

Definitley take your time and search in all areas possible, i even restarted a checkpoint if I thought i missed an area.

There are plenty of great solutions already posted, since this achievement so strange I thought I would just post the way I unlocked it. I completed the game on my 1st play through and didn't unlock Explorer. I then did the Frontlines achievement but still nothing. Afterward I jumped through various levels in the game. This also didn't work. I didn't delete the save but I started playing again from Chapter 2: Lost Tunnel. I was extra careful with finding bodies and lamps that could be turned off. I did NOT do Sherlock items or the "white flashes" in the game this 2nd time. Achievement finally popped in Outpost, it came up as I found a new body on the second level of the house, all the way in the back of the collapsed stairs.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention how on the 2nd playthrough I noticed that there are plenty of Red Metal Boxes full of ammo or filters which I didn't pick up on my 1st playthrough. Not sure if it counts for this achievement though.

I realize this is old. I did almost three entire playthroughs just trying to get this achievement. I have completed the Redux version twice so I already have a good idea of where to look. My achievement unlocked in one of the last possible places I believe it could. That is, after you get separated from your team and are locked in with a really tough mutant. I got my achievement on the body in the bathroom just as you enter. This is one of the last bodies you come to I believe. There is one other body after this in the same little section and that may be the last.

Just wanted to let you know that this method worked for me too. I followed the TA walkthrough and got all but Explorer and the mop-up achievements. Played through Front Line a couple of times to get those, but still didn't have Explorer. Replayed and explored Black Station based on another guide, still no luck.

Decided to give your method a try as I was confident the game was reloading the chapters and keeping the stats from my original playthrough. Played from Riga in Ch. 2, closely following the Gamefaqs guide from HWNDarkside's solution above. Achievement unlocked as I picked up ammo in a back room on the second floor of the main building in Outpost. Will give you a positive vote when I'm next online and TA picks up the game, thanks!

Hello, this is the complete Playlist of the Explorer run Achievement from qdraw001 and QuickdrawGaming, make sure you do every same move as they do:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6Hp61sXFveX1Hj5TNsD0...

I got it on the End of Outpost while i discovered the cracks on the ground or something like that.

And this is the Video for almost every single good thing for the Enlightened Achievement:(Redux Version, but works on Normal Version too.)

Make sure you do both at the same time so you won't have to do a lot more of playthroughs.

Got the Video from N18p73pwn3r Shoutout to him.

Hope this helps.

For this you need to explore every single room and area you can find. The achievement unlocks at different times depending on where you go. If you look in every single room when you enter each new area, you shouldn't have any issues with this achievement. You may notice when you find new areas, bodies or items the screen will flash either white or a warming red.

There is reason to believe locating a certain amount of dead soldiers unlocks this achievement. If you look in every location and find as many bodies as possible you should unlock this no later than the "Caves".

0

To achieve this, you need to explore every room and nook in all stations and tunnels. You may notice small flashes when objects and rooms are located. If you explore in detail, the achievement will unlock up to the "Cave" level.

You need to not only crawl through all the rooms, but also loot as many corpses and boxes as possible. Personally, I received this achievement in the Outpost mission.
