How to unlock the First blood achievement in Metro 2033 - Definitive Guide

Unless you decided to quit the game before any action starts then you will 100% definitely get this achievement. Just before you leave the Metro you will encounter your first glimpse of what creatures await you. These "rat/mole like" creatures are called Nosalises and are pretty easy to deal with. Three of these will attack you. Simply kill one and the "First Blood" achievement will pop up giving you a boost of 5 on your gamerscore.

This description is actually wrong, the achievement isn't for killing one of the Nosalises. I got through this area without the achievement unlocking originally. I reverted checkpoint, and went through it again, but it was only after I was hit by one of the Nosalises and took damage myself, that the achievement unlocked. Given the name of the achievement, it makes sense that this is for taking damage, not doing damage to enemies.

Yup. I killed 2 guys, nothing. Reloaded, killed 2, nothing. Reloaded let myself get hit and then killed him, popped. Definitely a combo of being hit + killing the enemy. Description says it all.

This is a story related achievement.

This will unlock once you complete the Prologue and first encounter the Nosalises.

You will get the story achievement by going through the campaign. Unlocks after completing the "Prologue" and meeting the mutants for the first time.

As I understand it, this achievement is given for the first use of the first aid kit.
