In this video guide I will show you how to get 30 kills with the Tikhar. You can first get the Tikhar once you reach VOLGA level. It is above the workbench inside the train just pick it up and it will be your third weapon. At any point where you find a nice group of enemies just back up so you don't get spotted and make a quick save. Then go kill them all and reload the quick save. Just rinse and repeat till the achievement pops.

The Tikhar is the classic Metro air powered rifle. To get this achievement you need to get 30 kills with the Tikhar. I had this at the mid point of the VOLGA level (the second level). You will get the rifle at the start of this level.
The Tikhar has some advantages (silent, cheap ammo) and disadvantages (short range, low damage). Remember that you can overpressurize to get higher damage but you need to be quick, the extra pressure dissappears quickly. It stabilizes in the green range. Pump by holding the X button down and then pumping with the RT.
To make the most of the Tikhar you need to go for headshots and be careful around enemies with armour on their heads. It's a wonderfully silent weapon and my go to gun in every Metro game. Make sure you have a backup weapon with higher damage though for when you miss your first shot!
