I did some exploring and apparently I missed the first spot where the Bukhanka was; will this appear again later in the zone?

The Bukhanka can be found during the Caspian level. The first objective you receive is to find out about the bandits that are driving around in this vehicle when you first arrive in the area and you will acquire the key for it there. This vehicle can be destroyed and you only get the one and only on this level. This achievement is difficult to miss but it is technically possible to avoid driving the Bukhanka so be sure to get in it when the opportunity presents itself.

Story related and can't be missed

At the start of Chapter 6: Caspian, you will acquire the keys for the car from a bandit and you will have to deal with a couple of mutants. The trophy will pop once you unlock the door.

Note: You can only get the Carmahedden trophy during this Chapter, by driving the Bukhanka.

There is an unpleasant bug in the game - if at the beginning of the mission, when a sandstorm begins, you turn back to the train, then Loaf will no longer be seen - the driver with the keys will no longer be there. It can only be cured by starting the chapter again. Or walk the entire chapter.
