How to unlock the Dressed for Success achievement in Metro Exodus - Definitive Guide
There are 12 (maybe 13 see below) upgrades in the game for Artyom's suit.
I will show you in my video the upgrades at the first available place in the game. You can get some upgrades later in the game as well. Atm is unclear which upgrades exactly appears again in the later levels.
The first available places for the upgrades are in levels "The Volga" and "The Caspian".
00:06 - 01 - Compass
00:34 - 02 - Extended Filter
01:09 - 03 - Ammo Pouches
01:51 - ## - Key for the Night Vision goggle door
02:20 - 04 - Throwing Weapons Harness
03:01 - 05 - Reinforcement Helmet
03:25 - 06 - Battery Charge Controller
04:50 - 07 - Metal Detector
05:22 - 08 - Night Vision goggle
The Caspian
06:06 - 09 - Motion Scanner
07:05 - 10 - Extra Bright Flashlight
07:33 - 11 - Armored Glass
08:09 - 12 - NVD Amplifier
09:04 - 13 - Consumables Carrier
There are currently 12 3 unclear points for this achievement:
1) Count the Night Vision googles as upgrade
At the time I recording the Night Vision google there was no achievements available and no tracker working. After the release both is working, so somebody please check it if Night Vision google counts.
Personally, I don't think it counts because on the workbench there are 4 categories with (at the end) 3 upgrades.
2) Collecting via chapter select
The game has a chapter select and for the Diaries and Postcard collectibles it will works when you load a previous chapter and collect your missing stuff.
For the upgrades I can't check this anymore but at the moment I will say no because if you reload a chapter all upgrades are back again (unlike the collectibles)
So somebody who miss a upgrade in chapter 3 please go back, collect the upgrade and look if this upgrade available on your later save game / story progress chapter.
3) Multiple upgrade locations
A user tell me he found the Reinforced Helmet upgrade also in chapter 5. I go to the location but there was nothing for me because I collect the Reinforced Helmet on the first location in chapter 3.
At the moment is unclear which upgrades are available later again and where exactly it is. I also have no idea how to list it at the end. Should this guide only show the first available locations or really all (double / triple?) locations? And how do you figure that out?
There are 3 open world levels and maybe some upgrades are available in all 3 levels? (if you miss it in the first 2 levels?)

The night vision goggles do not count. The percentage of completion for the achievement did not go up when i collected them.

In this video guide I will be showing you all 104 collectibles. Yes that's is correct there is a miscount on the diary achievement. So there are 71 diaries, 21 postcards, and 12 suit upgrades. These achievements will pop once the last one for the achievement is collected.

The compass is not there on my game.

That is weird. Try another new game is not a previous save.

Something important to point out- if you're playing on "Reader" difficulty, you already have the Compass upgrade from the very start and as such it will not be in the location in the video, just putting this here so people don't get confused and think it's a glitch(which I briefly did until I looked elsewhere on the net).
There are 14 upgrades to find but all of them are only found in Chapters 3 and 6. If any are missed, then you can always use Chapter Select to pick them up.
See Libarian for a locations Guide to all the collectibles.

There is a glitch for this achievement where if you complete the game on Ranger Hardcore it becomes impossible to unlock on your next playthrough.
The issue is that Ranger Hardcore difficulty gifts you all of the suit upgrades from the get-go, and the game is designed so that if you pick up a collectible it's removed from the game entirely (same as postcards and notes).
The act of picking up a suit upgrade is what gives you credit towards your achievement progress, and since the physical upgrades are removed from the game environment, you're stuck.
So basically this is a warning, make sure you get this BEFORE you attempt Ranger Hardcore difficulty.

There are 13 suit upgrades and they are all found on the Volga and Caspian levels. See "Old World Pictures" for a video guide.

You don't have to collect everything in one playthrough. Yes, in gameplay you will need to collect all the improvements again, but collecting the previously uncollected improvements will give you a trophy.

Improvements collected in separate passages (for example, first completed on normal difficulty, and then started NG on hardcore) are not cumulative. I collected some of the improvements in the 1st playthrough, in the 2nd playthrough I collected what I didn’t manage to do in the 1st playthrough, but I forgot 1 improvement. In the 3rd playthrough on NG+ I collected the last improvement, but they didn’t give me the trophy.
Apparently, you need to correctly collect improvements by replaying the chapters
