How to unlock the Righteous vengeance achievement in Metro Exodus - Definitive Guide

Close to the end of the mission Yamantau, you'll face an armored enemy with a heavy machine gun.

Make sure to pick this up after defeating the enemy (who is easily killed with one or two molotovs). Just at the end of the level, you'll be leaving with your team, and you'll have infinite cannibals running towards the Aurora. Charge up your machine gun with cn_LT and fire with cn_RT at anything that moves.

You should have accumulated quite a few kills from this level, so you will probably unlock this achievement after killing roughly 20 of these. If not, reload your checkpoint and do it again, until the achievement unlocks.

achievement counter got stuck at 87%. can't get the achievement...

Update: still can't unlock it. Finished the game 4 times now on 2 save slots. Made sure to have way more than 90 kills each time. I also reinstalled the game, as well as my profile. Checked Xbox as well as game updates.

Got this at the beginning of the mission, just kill a few and reload, it will only take a few minutes

In this video guide I will show you a quick and easy way to kill 90 cannibals. Close to the end of the YAMANTAU level you will fight a heavy with a light machine gun. Make sure you take it with you and save the ammo for the end of the level. Once you are leaving on the train a whole bunch of cannibal will pour out the door your facing. Just simply mow them down and get the achievement. If you don't just simply reload the check point.Or make a quick save before you get on the train.

If the gun doesn't have enough ammo in it do what I did and use a couple of molotovs at the end it kills a lot more.

Anyone else think this might be bugged, 'cause I'm stuck on 94% I got from first playthrough? I've since tried this on chapter select many times and I'm sure I killed over one hundred in the first room alone. Awesome level, though

This is obtainable as soon as you regain control of Artyom when the squad rescues you, Anna, and Miller. If you throw molotovs at the two areas above where the cannibals descend from they will run into the fire and die instantly. If the fire dies down just throw another molotov at each spot. Your squad provides cover fire but you can also take out some cannibals with your guns.

This achievement can be unlocked during the Yamantau level. After getting free of the cannibals, you will be tasked with finding and rescuing Anna and killing dozens of cannibals in the process. You will kill the majority of the 90 cannibals while rescuing Anna but after you rescue her and are in the Comm. room with the rest of the team, make a quick save just to be safe, then as you get back on the trolley to exit the level, a massive mob of cannibals will be chasing after you. Here is where you will need to get the final kills you need to get to 90, so have grenades and molotovs on hand and as you're leaving on the trolley, throw all that you have into the chasing mob. If you don't get the achievement here, reload your save and try again, or else you will need to start the entire level again.

Don't skip any enemies on your way to Anna either. You have as much time as you want to complete the level so be methodical and kill everyone you see.

Chapter 5: YAMANTAU, is where you encounter the cannibals. There is plenty during the level and at the start when you get your bag back there is an endless wave of them. This is whist your team wait for you to jump onto the elevator. Just ignore them and kill the cannibals until the trophy pops.

This can also be farmed by reloading, Chapter Select and during NG+.

During the first commotion in the bunker, at the Yamantau level, do not rush to run into the elevator. Spend all your ammo on enemies (they will respawn endlessly). When you run out of cartridges/grenades/knives, return to the checkpoint.

The trophy is cumulative, you can finish off the remaining ones after completing it.

On hardcore you can beat it in one playthrough; according to the plot, there are plenty of them in the bunker

It’s easier to complete this prize right away in the first batch. Stock up on grenades or Molotov cocktails. Squat down next to the box where Melnik throws the corpse and throw grenades/Molotov cocktails opposite the window.

There is another nuance. I got the achievement after riding the elevator to the train, but I didn’t fire a single shot at the cannibals at that moment. From which I conclude that the trophy count also includes the murders committed by your fellow travelers. To be precise, the trophy was given at the moment when Sam was massively destroying the adversaries.
