How to unlock the Bloodlust achievement in Metro Last Light - Definitive Guide

Some tips - this achievement somehow took longer than expected.
- the hardest are the 4 carts with 2 men each - kill both in every cart. And yes, they must be shot (letting them crush doesn't count).
- if you think that you have missed one of the carts (usually the driver), reload checkpoint - should put you right before the carts (part 1 and 2 respectfully).
- if stuck with a silenced smg - fire about 5 cm in front of the target! Bullets travel slower, so adjust for speed and distance (hence the 5 cm).
- achievement pops just as you shoot the last heavy on board. If you followed my tips and no achievement, finish the stage, reload chapter. Use military rounds for carts - so that you can kill first 2 carts with 1 clip.

Shooting "5cm" in front of the enemy also applies to the un-silenced Kalash 2012.

When I tried to do this I was stuck with some awful guns at the beginning of the level. As a last resort I used chapter select and went back to Quarantine to pick up some decent weapons and then ran through Khan level to get to the Chase again.

Thanks for the tips.I used a Kalash with scope and MG ammo for guys in the carts and the guy on the turret on the back of the train in front of you .The Valve with red dot for guys on train to the left.Then on the train where I can move I went back to the Kalash.

Thanks for the tip about shooting ahead. Also had trouble until I realized I needed to start shooting at soldiers at the rear of the train flat bed first to get a good angle on them. Also the first soldier on the far left was occasionally INVINCIBLE...no matter what I hit him with...weird. But all's well that ends well. TX

PERFECT!! This was driving me CRAZY. Lead the soldiers and they go right down. It works even with an unsilenced Kalash. I was using MGBs, snipers, everything. Leading them with a Kalash loaded with the MGBs worked the first time. In fact, when I got to the train, I had to keep checking if they were really down because it happened so fast. Thanks!!

During the chase you will need to kill all the Reds on the train and rail cars. At first you will need to kill the enemies on the small rail cars which appear to your right, then you will have to board the train. Don't forget the heavy on the back of the train, and the few Reds shooting at you before board. If you kill all these enemies before you board the train, all that's left is the group of enemies that are ahead of you.

I believe you are wrong about Shadow Ranger...I just went through the whole game and only killed 2 people in this sequence, then the flamethrower guy at the end(which you have to kill) and that achievement didnt unlock still.

It's possible there's issue with Shadow Ranger as I've killed all the people on this level, Red Square and the final level and it unlocked just fine for me. This was also recorded during that playthrough, so I have no real answer for the issues people are running into.

since people are having issues you should note that in the solution, i killed these guys because this solution said i could and didnt unlock shadow ranger. i mightve also killed others but im 99% these are the only guys i tried to kill.

I'm thinking about doing a live steam of what I did for shadow ranger to see if I do anything different. I remember all the choices I made, so hopefully it will be easy to replicate.

I need some time to set this up though as I'm currently having issues with my computer which I'm trying to resolve so that I can do the stream.

You definitely can get through this level without killing anyone. I did it, although I must have killed someone else somewhere. On Easy, with enough medkits, the train is survivable. Just keep your head down. So I don't know how it worked for you (did you reload the chapter?), but it's definitely erroneous to say that you must kill anyone in this level.

I was gonna say, lol, I'm just gonna try this achievement, soon as it pops, restart the level and not kill anyone just to be safe

Chapter 20 - The Chase
I highly recommend picking up the Valve in the previous level - 19 Khan - its located at the end of the level on a table before getting on the cart to finish the level.

The upside to using the Valve is that it will be a 1 shot kill and you will not have to lead the targets very far. I found myself burning through ammo and reloading a lot trying to pick off the guys on carts with automatic weapons.

If you take to long Khan will blow up the carts and you will have to restart. This is easy once you get the two groups of carts taken down.

There are a total of 25 enemies to kill on the level total. The groups of enemies can be split into 3 groups:

  • The Traincar enemies (8 total)
  • The group of Enemies on the train from your car with Khan (5 total)
  • The group of enemies while you are on the train. (12 total)

The first group- The first group is the hardest group. The first two cars have 4 enemies on them. Aim offset to ensure your bullets make contact. If you do not kill these enemies fast enough, Khan will destroy the cars himself. If this happens, restart the checkpoint. After killing the first 4, there will be a small cutscene of a Khan destroying a car in front of you. 2 more cars will arrive with 4 more enemies. Aim offset to ensure your bullets make contact.

The second group- The second group is a bit easier to kill, but will still need to act quick before Khan tells you to jump onto the train. As you come right behind the train, kill the Machine gunner. When Khan brings you parallel to the train, kill all 4 of the enemies shooting you. Again, aim offset so your bullets make contact.

The third group- The third and final group is the easiest group to kill, as they are all in the narrow train cars. There are 12 enemies here, and you can kill these guys however your wish. The achievement should unlock as you kill the final enemy.

The whole problem is that at first there are 2 trolleys, you need to kill 2 people on them until 2 more arrive, these are different trolleys and there are 8 people in total.

You need to kill everyone not only on the train with the black one, but also on the trolleys from which they shoot at you along the way.

There is an assumption that this achievement is buggy. I kill everyone and complete the level, but they don’t give me the achievement.

It's not easy to hit the red ones riding on railcars along a parallel path, but there is a secret - shoot a little to the left of the target, then the bullets will hit the target exactly.
