How to unlock the Scram achievement in Metro Last Light - Definitive Guide
Just past the gate that you have to power up to pass, the rail switch is set to steer you down the left path. However, if you get out and flip the switch to go right (through the wooden barricade), you'll find an abandoned car (and a karma point). On the right side of the car is a Kalash with a high-powered scope. There are some more military-grade rounds on both the right and left. Better, if you need to reload, you'll start back here.
The Kalash has a faster reload than a shotgun and the bastard, and you don't have to pump it. I got this the first time I tried with the gun.
Get back on Regina and go down the left track. There are roughly 4 waves of Watchmen, between 3-5 each.
If you like, you can stop after the second wave when you see the bodies on the right (as you face toward the rear) and go into the door for a karma point and some creepiness. The Watchmen will not attack the vehicle, and the game gives you a new save point here as well.
In all, I spent 113 rounds on this, mostly because I'm a poor shot. On the other hand (and please note that I didn't stop halfway through at the save point when I did my run), if you pop the achievement you can go back to where you found the Kalash and use regular rounds without having to worry about the Watchmen catching you.
When you get all the way to the end and Regina stops, your achievement will pop. If it doesn't, you can reload your checkpoint and try again.
For the following video I used military grade ammo as it takes the Watchmen out quickly and effectively without giving them time to slip by and attack you. I've tried this with the revolver and shotgun, but the bastard gun seems to be the best alternative with this ammo type. If you're collecting military grade bullets then you will want to reload your previous checkpoint after earning this to reset your bullets. You can attempt this with standard ammo, just remember it will take 4-6 shots per Watchmen instead of the 2/3 shots the military grade produce.
Play through the chapter a little ways, and you will stumble upon an old bashed up rail car. You must push this along with you for a little bit.
Now, while pushing you will get a warning the watchmen are coming simply by listening for their horrible moans, turn around to you rear, (every one of them will come from behind you).
What you must do is not let them 'reach' the railcar, which is don't let them jump on top, (once they are standing on the car swiping at you, you've lost the cheevo, just simply re-load last checkpoint),
Not to hard of an achievement, revolver will get them most of the time in one shot.
Achievement will pop when you push the bashed up rail car into the walled up shaft and the end of it's journey with you.
Keep an eye on the right side of the tunnel after boarding "Regina"; the prized rail-car the blacksmith provides you with, and look for the Watchmen that quickly ducks into a side tunnel. Stop your railcar, get out and go into this room. You will be attacked by a small pack of Watchmen so keep your gun ready. Loot the air filters for your gas mask, ammo, and the shotgun if you do not already have one and return to the rail-car (There will be another one of these tunnels on the left side with more ammo and air filters).
Now climb back on board the car and drive forward into the rusty old car. The moment you make contact with the car, turn Artyom around and make sure your pneumatic rifle is pressurized and your shotgun is loaded. Continue to push the car onward and keep looking down the rifle's sights. The watchmen tend to jump into the tunnel in groups of threes and occasionally fours so be ready for quick shots. Over-pressurized to over half-pressure are usually instant kills, but aim for their heads to be safe.
If you keep the rifle loaded and you are accurate, you should have the watchmen dead long before they even manage to get within 15 meters of the car. When you notice the car is passing dead bodies and you see an opening on the left (right if you are still facing backwards) you have hit the half-way point. There is another air filter and ammo inside as well as another Watchmen ambush. This is where the shotgun comes in handy. You will also gain the little morality flash from the Dark Ones for traversing this way as well.
Once you are done here, make sure your rifle is pumped and loaded and get back on the car. The Watchmen come just a tiny bit faster then before, but they can be dispatched just as easily and quickly.
Before you know it, you will hit the spot where the line splits and if you kept the Watchmen away you will be sitting on a shiny new achievement.
Check out the video below for a full playthrough of the game showing all collectibles, miscellaneous achievements like this one, and the Moral Points I obtained (I skipped a lot of them) in order to get the Redemption achievement. The Regina mission starts at timestamp 44:16.
In the chapter Regina, you will reach a point where you are driving your rail car along the tracks. There will be a stationary train sitting on the tracks. You will need to push the train with your car. At this point, you will need to make sure that no Watchers jump onto your railcar. If this happens, you can reload checkpoint and try again. You can switch to military rounds to deal extra damage if you wish, and reload the checkpoint to get them back. As you push the car along the track, turn around and watch for anything that moves. Be sure to reload after every 2 or 3 enemies.
You don't need to worry about anything overhead jumping down onto you, or anything in front of you jumping out. Everything will be coming from one direction.
Best done on chapter select after you've played the game as you can then use your military grade ammo to make it slightly easier.
