How to unlock the Tortoise achievement in Metro Last Light - Definitive Guide

This achievement is done on the chapter 'Torchlight', following the commands of Pavel, shine your flashlight on the spiders and they will flip up/belly-up.

Best spot is, part way through, you will reach a train car, where you will be boosted up and have to pull pavel up, he will say to "Faster, faster move it!" and run to the end to grab the rope. Don't run to close to him or you will grab it, and miss your chance.

Instead stay up top, and the spiders will spawn infinitely, don't worry about the ones that run back and over the edge, they will come until they are dead. Simply do your light shine and cheevo POP. The tenth spider I got was really tough took about 20-30 seconds, as opposed 5-10 for the others, of solid light to bring him down, so watch out for him ;)

No point in boosting this. You will kill about 50 of them across your play through, and making them flip upside down is the only way to kill them.

Is it possible that you just needed to charge your flashlight after long use and that"s why last one took longer?

That last one was this but ugly brown color, and the rest are black and with glowing spots, so I'm guessing the brown one is the alpha spider predator thing

There are sections in the chapter "Regina" where you have several side rooms and can turn on power restoring the lights, this flips the spiders in the area and I got this achievement without even seeing a spider on my screen when it popped.

I never had them constantly spawn, I tried three times and the maximum I fought was four. I am sure when I get to the tunnels I will finish this up.

Hey guys this achievement can be a bit annoying and really difficult if...like me...the spiders freak you the hell out. However there's a section in the Torchlight chapter, the chapter after you save Pavel from the noose, where you can get the achievement quite easily. After jumping across the bridge using the pole and being boosted up on the train stay on the train and the spiders will keep respawning. I hope the video below helps and I wish you the best of luck with this achievement.

I got this after complete the game.
I load up chapter "regina" to get the other achievement "Kill all Watchmen before they reach the Railcar"

But when you need to go into a room to power up the first gate.
The room is full of spider. Keep walking around so the spider follow you and then hit them with the light. Don't stay close to the holes or the spider will hidden, instead of following you.

During the story you will run into spiders that attack you. In order to make them flip belly up, you have to hold your flashlight on them for several seconds. You will know the flashlight is working by the black trail that appears on them as you hold the beam on them.

Don't forget to keep your battery charged with the generator you carry, and use your lighter as well to burn up the webs that tend to be all over the spider areas.

Very much like Alan Wake combat tactics :)

The Spiderbugs are the spider-like mutants that most frequent the Metro. To cause them to belly-up, hit them with a full powered light. Keep the light on them, and after a few seconds, they will flip over and show their belly. The kill doesn't matter, as long as the spider flips, it will count.

We simply shine a flashlight on them until they turn over and begin to squawk in agony, and as soon as they turn over, quickly we finish them off with a knife in the belly - a direct saving of ammunition. If you didn’t get the achievement at the beginning, with Pavel, then be sure to get it at the “Regina” level, there are more than enough spiders there (at the same time, more than enough).
