How to unlock the Back-Up Plan achievement in Microsoft Flight Simulator - Definitive Guide
Just thought I'd add a guide for those on Xbox, it's essentially what meochan did.
Go to World Map, choose the airport and ramp that meochan recommends (Ramp 154 at CYYZ).
Before turning on the engine, I went into the assistance options, then under piloting, I turned off AI Radio Communications (as I'm terrible at this and need all the assistance options on most of the time).
After that, start the engine (instruction on screen), then press the left stick in and go to the ATC icon in the top ribbon (far left, the tower looking icon). That menu will open, scroll down to "Ground Services" then you'll find one called Request Pushback. Do so, then just get pushed (go to third-person view to watch where you go).
I just let my plane be pushed right out of the airport and onto the grass, through the trees and towards the houses. took maybe 5-10 mins to push me back a mile, then the achievement popped 10-20 seconds after requesting for the pushback to end.

don't forget to disable your parking brakes!

Start your flight on any gate/parking spot that has a tug service.
I used Ramp 154 on CYYZ for this achievement cuz there is no objects stopping a straight pushback behind the plane along the way.
Fire up your plane and request the pushback service. Turn up your sim rate which you need to assign individual keys to increase and decrease the sim rate.
Wait for the achievement to pops up within 60s depending on your sim rate.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. I didn't see any progress on the tracker from the 2% I already had. Another solution, for Deadstick Landing, also didn't work for me so I wonder if Microsoft has already pushed out a patch. For those wondering about increasing sim rate, see https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/flight-simulator-speed-up....
[Note: I didn't downvote this solution; that was someone else.]

Hi jrod39, I don't believe MS have the time to do something like this... But I do think there are multiple achievements could be bugged since I'm also stuck at other achievements. What I can give you is only the method that I used to get this achievement. BTW you do need to call radio for the push back instead of the shift+p option.

Not sure if I got this via glitch or not. But here's what I did to unlock it in under 2 minutes. I was working on another achievement for ground services at LPMA airport at one of the large ramps using an A320neo. Last thing I did was request pushback service. I let the plane be pushed all the way back to the fence and then requested the pushback service end. Right after that I spooled up the engines and took off without clearance. As I was accelerating down the runway, this achievement unlocked. Autopilot was off, of course, as was the auto-ATC comms.
If someone can try and duplicate this and let me know if it works, that would be great. If not, I'll chalk it up to a lucky glitch and delete this solution.

Something similar happened to me. I crashed my plane and landed on terrain and drove for about 10 seconds through trees etc and it counted as 40% towards the achievement. Not sure exactly what the criteria is but there's definitely a weird glitch.

This achievement is so buggy, I was having problems getting anything else to work without letting it go at it's normal speed so I loaded up the airport you said, LPMA, and didn't have an option for a pushback service, I did the first ramp in the list, so I just decided to drive around and all the driving started counting towards the achievement, I had it being tracked, and by the time I got to the end of the runway it popped.
