This achievement has been updated. It is now for completing 10 of the weekly challenges that have been in the game. The previous challenges have now been added back into the game through an update. Completing 10 of these will unlock the achievement.
From VOODOO85, you can access the challenges from this location:
Previously, this achievement would have taken years to complete and may have become impossible for some users. Nevertheless, it doesn't even take ten weeks now, and can be done in a matter of minutes.
Congrats to all who have waited years for this update!

You can find these under 'Activities > Landing Challenges > Famous/Epic etc' and are labelled as Spotlight Events. I've had another gamer confirm that their progress went from 40% to 70% so if they complete another 3 events from the pack, they'll pop the achievement too
It's also worth noting that this update is only available through the Xbox Insider program at this point in time.Previously, this achievement would have taken years to complete and may have become impossible for some users. Nevertheless, it doesn't even take ten weeks now, and can be done in a matter of minutes.

No, unfortunately, what you said is not the right controls.
Putting the wheels "landing gear" down, is whatever button you have under the control setting "Toggle Landing Gear".
For me, on PC, it's G. I have no idea what it is on console.
You're actually not supposed to turn the engine off while landing. Turning it all the way down to 0 like you said is right. You just need to do it far enough before so that you're going slow enough once you hit the runway. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but you'll get it quickly!

I had been stuck at 6/10 for years and didn't realize I would need to complete 7 now/again (more like 700 at this point) before it started registering, I was going bonkers as I did landing after landing and it was still not going up after the long awaited SU15 fixes; then every subsequent landing after reaching the point I had already gotten to (6/10), on the 7th it continued to count until it completed! Finally!!! Happy flying and achievement completing to all :D

This game is a pain in the ass. Part of the problem in my opinion is 99% of these guides are written for PC and they’re outdated. Also, who wants to spend 1000 hrs flying these planes in dark rainy weather, not me.

I'm sure as the game goes on, people will write more guides for the Xbox edition. It's still pretty new for Xbox. I think it's important to include the PC guides, because it saves a lot of time for people who do have one (1000 hours)

I wonder if changing the date on PC to when the landing challenges were spotlight events would make it pop? Not cheating as outlined in TA policy before anyone jumps on that. Maybe try that later because I only started with Transylvania so I could possibly get Nice and Courchevel.

You're welcome to try it, but I don't think that's how it works... The spotlight events are removed from the game entirely when they have an update. It's not like on Microsoft Solitaire or Sudoku where the daily challenges are tied to the server and just show up based on what your clock is.

Looks like the new update has a new spotlight event that will progress the achievement. From the release notes its a landing challenge at MCAS Miramar. Also says "4 hours of existing flight time in a non-discovery flight are required to display the event on the homepage, which replaces the discovery flight shortcut." If anyone isn't seeing it that may be why.

My achievement tracker is still at 0%, even after getting the '1 weekly activity' cheevo, but TA just scanned my profile and it says I'm at 10% progress here while my console says 0%. Weird.

New update released today that includes an update to Australia. Downloaded on both PC and Xbox, and the previous Activity (Miramar Landing Challenge) is removed. I do not see any new Activities. Anyone seeing anything different?

I had to restart the console. On PC the update showed up today. It takes a bit to register I guess. I hear the PC version of preview counts the showcase event counts towards the achievement, but the console does not.

Great guide! My progress unfortunately doesn't go up 2x. I got the newest challenge on the beta playing on pc. When I play on the Xbox I get nothing.

You had to finish once when the preview first came out, (~February 12th) (10% advancement) and then finish it again after the following update. (~February 16th) (another 10% advancement)

If you completed it on February 10th on PC, you should be able to complete it again on PC now, (as long as you have the most recent version of the game) and you will get another 10%. Nothing counts on Xbox as of right now.

Unfortunately I am also falling in the camp of those that this doesn't show up (neither this one nor Miramar one). I'm on PC, latest update... I only see discovery flights. Any thoughts as to what is the trigger for these to show up? This is my last achievement required, been stuck for about a year.

DLC ownership is not required. Just the update preview. Seems several others are having this issue. If I remember correctly, there is actually no discovery flights supposed to be in the game at the moment. But I could be wrong.

xCloud runs off of Series X hardware, and the challenge currently does not count on Xbox.

Can confirm, was able to do this via PC with Beta Test privileges. Since I don't have a Series console, I can't test the Xbox, but I tried doing this on Cloud Gaming and the Kingston Event wasn't there.

I don't see the Spotlight Challenge tile on the home screen. I did as suggested and loaded up the Naples Discovery Flight, paused the game for well over 4 hours, quit, and restarted, but still do not see the Spotlight Challenge tile. I uninstalled the Top Gun DLC. The TG-Challenge stay where it is. Closed and restartet FS, TG-Challenge still there. If i click on the challenge, the content manager opens and show TG ready for installation.

In the forums there’s a wishlist item to “bring back old events” that has an “in progress” status so hopefully they bring back old events and have them count toward progression. Asobo just couldn’t care less. Too busy eating cheese and drinking that Bordeaux wine to do their jobs.

From what I remember, some people were having trouble getting that to work on this particular challenge, though it worked for me.
Theoretically, you can finish the challenge on Xbox and gain 10%, and finish that same event on PC and get another 10%.
Unfortunately, that seems to not always work 100% of the time, as with lots of things in this game.

As always, this won't get fixed unless people submit feedback to the devs politely asking that they support this feature and make the achievement obtainable for xbox users. Link below - I submitted one a couple of weeks ago asking them to start the weekly activities again and suggesting that if they don't have the resources to regularly update this feature, that they just set the game to automatically rotate every week through a preset series of 10 activities.

@Playah360: The PC version released a year before Xbox. During that time, Asobo was actually putting out weekly events (approximately 5 or 6 events). Obviously Xbox players did not have access to those events at the time since it had not yet launched on Xbox.
By the time Xbox released, Asobo had basically stopped putting out more than one or two events per year. Fast forward to the Anniversary edition update, and they put the “old” spotlight events — the ones Xbox players NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE — in the game, but specifically state that they won’t count toward achievement progression.

The Red Bull Bullseye challenge didn't count for me either. It might not even be a spotlight challenge. Spotlight challenges release alongside every sim update, while this newest landing challenge released without a sim update and needed to be specifically downloaded from the marketplace like the Maverick challenges. Move along, people. We won't get another spotlight challenge until the next sim update as per usual.

There's a Bullseye landing on the main page. I finally manage to achieve it on Xbox SX (wasn't an easy one for me). Unfortunately, it doesn't add any progress to my achievement (remain stucked at 90%).

Asobo is still drunk from their holiday. I don’t know what anyone at that company actually does all day because they’re not working on the game. All the tech comes from Blackshark, Azure, and other third parties.

I’ve seen comments to the effect of “well you should have completed it while it was possible to complete.”
It has NEVER been possible to complete this Achievement on Xbox alone. I cannot stress this enough. Xbox users cannot complete events that do not exist and therefore cannot obtain the Achievement.
There simply have not been enough events. I’ve been flying since day one on Xbox and have only seen 5 events. The most recent one was glitched for me and did not count toward Achievement progress after a dozen+ completions.

It has NEVER been possible to complete this Achievement on Xbox alone. I cannot stress this enough. Xbox users cannot complete events that do not exist and therefore cannot obtain the Achievement.
There simply have not been enough events. I’ve been flying since day one on Xbox and have only seen 5 events. The most recent one was glitched for me and did not count toward Achievement progress after a dozen+ completions.

Can confirm. I was on 40%. Pressed LS on main menu to check my version and the achievement popped. Im also on version 1.37.4.0

there is a way, but you need to have a Series and enroll into the Beta version in the Insider Hub. the Series owning requirement comes from the fact you can't play Insider versions on xCloud.

@HKTR2 you need to install the landing challenges pack first. This will add extra landing challenges to the list containing the phrase that they were part of weekly activities

It should unlock but i'd grab it whilst it's definitely working. Events in the past (when they were releasing them very very slowly) would sometimes count progress in the beta release but then not in full public release. Personally for me, i wouldn't wait around

Wait until the regular release is updated. Or just join the insider. Download the insider app on Xbox, enroll in the MSFS one, restart Xbox, update the game.

Was confused as to why I none of the event landing were selectable from the menu. Turns out you have to first manually install the pack(s) from the in-game marketplace. Look for "Spotlight pack" under the challenges tab.
FINALLY I can delete this 100+ Gig son of a gun from my devices.
It was a looong time coming.

Also finally got it. Thanks to the above comment saying the spotlight pack needed to be installed (this should be mentioned in the main part of the guide!). Took me nearly 2 years to finish this son of a bitch.

Same as above, I have installed the pack, done a few, tried different devices etc and no progress. I've tried checking through achievement progress etc to get it to update and no luck.

Finally unlocked it!
Using 1.37.17.0 on Windows with the Spotlight pack installed.
Achievement tracker was showing 60% from a couple of years ago. Worked my way though the landing challenges and after a half dozen or so landings it started to increase until Achievement Unlocked.

So, good to know this game is just broken garbage. Pretty new and far from an “aviation enthusiast”, but setting the landing down should bring the wheels out for landing, right? And bringing the throttle all the way to 0 should turn off the engines? Nah. Tried both manually in the cockpit and in 3rd person view, unreliable results at best. Also, are there no guides for the actual challenges? All I could find on YT was silent let’s plays.

Have this game now 2,5 month. Only gave 1 time a Spotlight, but saw several world updates. Spain, Italy, and now USA.

Just completed the Uganda challenge 3 times in Beta on Xbox. No progress. This will be the second “wEaKlY cHaLlEnGe” in a row that doesn’t count.
As an Xbox user that has been playing since launch and hasn’t missed a single event/challenge, I’ve only made 20% progress. It will be 5 years to complete this Achievement at the rate they are putting out working spotlight Events. What an absolute joke.
Asobo is so bad at their jobs. Embarrassing.

I didn't play for a few weeks and got an update prompt when I started the game. So I figured I would give it a try to do the Uganda challenge again since I didn't receive any upticks when the Canada update? launched publicly. I did get progression in the insider program a few months ago. The tile for the Uganda challenge wasn't available so I got into my logbook and redid the last flight.
After months of keeping up with the news and checking out insider updates I have unlocked the achievement today, which was a very nice and unexpected surprise. I achieved this on PC if anyone wants to replicate it. Thank you very much SincereSeeker6 for all the updates and this magnificent guide!!

Asobo placed the spotlight events that Xbox players didn’t have access to in the game, but went out of their way to make sure they DO NOT COUNT towards the achievement. Absolutely disgusting behavior by Asobo.

Two of the “events” completely failed to register after completing them multiple times. Now SU’s are only scheduled to be released twice per year. At this rate, it will be another 3 years, until 2026 before I have this Achievement. Galling.

I just found out that Sim update 13, which was initially scheduled for today (Sept, 21st) has been posponed to next week (Sept, 28th).

Looks like the latest beta version (1.37.4.0) is unlocking this now. I was on 40% progress but the achievement unlocked upon loading into the game - before even getting to main menu. This is due to me already have 40% plus i'd done all the landing challenges from the pack that was recently added into the game containing old events
You can find these under 'Activities > Landing Challenges > Famous/Epic etc' and are labelled as Spotlight Events. I've had another gamer confirm that their progress went from 40% to 70% so if they complete another 3 events from the pack, they'll pop the achievement too

I've done this on PC with just the standard version and it's working there.
Just make sure to get and download the Spotlight Event Pack from the Marketplace and then the old events will show up in Landing Challenges.
I also booted up the xbox version quickly and it looks like it's available there as well.
