How to unlock the Saddle Sore achievement in Microsoft Flight Simulator - Definitive Guide
DO NOT use sim time at all for this achievement!! It will void your progress.
Update: The game seems to crash more often than before. If this is an issue, go to General Options then Data Menu. In that menu turn off Online Functionality.
This seems to no longer work with the CJ4. I'm sure it did on PC before the recent updates, but now that the game is running on Xbox this no long works on Xbox or PC. It must be a propeller or turbo-prop aircraft. I tried multiple times to get the Frequent Flyer Miles achievement and it took about 15 hours with the CJ4. You can use sim time on that flight and get it over with, but DO NOT use sim time at all for this achievement!! "Frequent Flyer Miles" can be sped up, but not this one.
I flew CYHZ to LFPG with the Daher TBM 930 and it took about 8.5 hours. The AI landed the plane in a small pond and continued to the edge of the runway, but it still counted. I chose a gate for both airports just in case that is needed. (Image #1 below)
I used the AI pilot the whole time. On Xbox, click the left stick to bring up a cursor or use a mouse. In the toolbar at the top of the screen is a pilot head icon that says "Flight Assistant". Turn on AI Piloting and use all assists in the options menu. (Image #2 below)
When you start the flight, the plane will be off. Even with assists, I had to turn it on. Click on the Checklist in the toolbar and the categories for "Before Engine Start" and "Engine Start" will need to gone through. The bottom of those checklists will have an autocomplete option. (Image #3 below)
Once the plane is started, the AI will start to taxi the plane and the flight will start. Check back in 8.5 hours for your achievement!
You can go with just about any two destinations that show the flight time of 8+ hours, but I want all the star airports and needed LFPG. The TBM 930 is the fastest plane you can use, but 8 hours is 8 hours. The plane does not matter. This plane will take 8 hours for the flight path I used. A slow plane will take a lot longer, so pick two that show a total time of 8 hours.

Thank you so much for this guide. I did it the other guide's way and wasted many hours, but this worked perfectly first try! Got it while I was working.

Achievement is bugged but this is how to unlock it until they fixed it:
Fly LFBD to KSEA in a Cessna Citation CJ4 (over 8 hours).
Backstory:
So I first tried it with the TBM 930 but didn't unlock the achievement. I then tried with the king air but that also wouldn't work.
I messaged one of the guys on this website who unlocked the achievement (cmlj 7) and he told me the achievement popped when completing a flight from LFBD to KSEA in a Cessna Citation CJ4(Frequent Flyer Miles achievement). I just tried it and it worked! it gave me both achievements.
So fly LFBD to KSEA in a Cessna Citation CJ4 (over 8 hours) and the achievement should pop!

Just to advise, using the CJ4 advised above, it doesn't appear to work if you increase the sim rate to get 8 hours of flight time in less than 8 real world hours (8 hours of in game flight time passed, but only 3-4 real world hours).
This doesn't really surprise me, as despite the in game clock, on the completion screen it shows the real world amount of time taken which I'm guessing is what it uses. So it needs be at least 8 *actual* hours. I'm guessing you probably can use the sim rate, but still need to fly for at least 8 real world hours.
And regarding PilotDude comment above, it doesn't surprise me that method worked, and it's not really bugged, it's just the nature of this achievement and the way the game engine runs, pressing ESC doesn't truly pause the game so spending 8 hours in the escape screen and then landing will show 8 hours on the completion screen which is all it needs.

Someone else try this and let me know, because I just had this pop for me.
1. using a prop plane (I used the diamond da40ng) take off on a flight.
2. hit the ESC key to bring up the menu
3. walk away for 8+ hours and do housework, visit with friends (socially distanced, of course) etc.
4. come back, hit ESC to resume playing, then turn around and land at the same airport you just left.
5. Achievement unlocked.
No kidding. That's what I just did, although I did land at a different airport instead of the same one, and I had already flown about an hour before I hit pause. And I came back after about 7 hours to finish the flight (another 40 minutes.)
I suspect this is bugged, but in a good way for us, I guess. :-)
This worked for me. I used a different plane, but it was the twin engine turboprop. I took off from Cape Canaveral Test Skid and landed a few miles away at the NASA Shuttle Landing strip with a very long pause game in the middle. Popped when I was on the ground. Used co-pilot to fly the entire thing.1. using a prop plane (I used the diamond da40ng) take off on a flight.
