How to unlock the Sugar Rush achievement in Microsoft Jackpot - Definitive Guide

This requires you to unlock and play on the 3rd theme: Sweet Riches.
The multiplier raises when a match is made. The matching pieces fall and add towards your multiplier. More pieces will then be added to the slots and if more matches are made more pieces will go towards raising the multiplier. Pieces will stop falling and being added to the cannon if no match is made. To get the 3x multiplier you must have 14+ pieces* be matched on one spin (including the falling symbols). Once symbols fall and no match is made the spin ends and you get the highest multiplier you reached (max 3x).

Is there any way to make this easier, or is it just entirely luck based?

It's luck based, tried it all of level 10 and I didn't get it, so it's mostly luck based, like most of these/

I don't know if this has been altered since you posted, but it specifically requires 14+ pieces.

The unique bonus to the SWEET RICHES theme is the potential for multiple payoffs on a single bet. As payoffs are cleared from the field, more candy drops from the top with the chance to create additional winning combinations. Above the SPIN button is an indicator of the current bonus multiplier that is dependent on how many candies have been cleared from the play field. Clear enough candy to receive a x3 bonus in one spin to unlock this achievement.
