I've downloaded the kids pack and it's not showing me as having 48 pieces on expert. 49 actually

The easiest way to avoid this is to put all the edge pieces in trays so they won't attach accidentally. After all interior pieces are connected, empty the trays, and it should pop as soon as you finish.
