How to unlock the First Rung of the Ladder achievement in Microsoft Minesweeper - Definitive Guide

The easiest way to get this is to just click the exit. Your character will automatically dig to it, mostly avoiding traps. If it does run into a trap, just click on the exit again, and it'll continue.

Very easy, thanks! If your character gets stopped by a trap then just click the exit again until he reaches it.

I got this by just opening Adventure mode for the first time

We go into adventure mode and go through the first level, it’s better not to rush and collect everything on your way, opening doors and killing monsters. Once you complete the first level you will receive an achievement.
