How to unlock the Wins At Your Back achievement in Microsoft Minesweeper - Definitive Guide
At the present time, the game allows you to play the current month AND also the previous month for free
To unlock this achievement, simply play a daily challenge for each day of the previous month
(no need to change dates!)
I tested it with two different accounts and it works even with the month of February (which some people reported to have problems in the past) :)
EDIT: Maybe due to Microsoft updating the game, as of today (May 1st, 2023) this solution, unfortunately, isn't unlocking the achievement as it previously was
If it is patched in a new update I'll (re)edit this solution

Just select the previous month, then the 1st day, play one challenge, go to day 2 and keep doing that
Should pop right after you finish playing the last challenge!

This works perfectly. Achievement popped right after finishing the last day of February 2023

For this achievement you'll need to log in on each seperate day, you can't just do them all on the final day of the month. You can cheese it by changing your calendar on your computer, but you'll have to do it incrementally, like with the 5 days in a row achievement. :)
EDIT: some people have issues with this unlocking, please try the solution mentioned by ZnioX below:

I had the same issue, did all of February by the book, but the achievement did not pop yesterday. However it did pop today after I followed the instructions from this post:
Basically, set your computer date to January 31st, complete one challenge on that day, close, set date to January 30th, complete one challenge on that day, close, set date to January 29th, complete one challenge on that day, close, set date to February 28th, (re)complete one challenge on that day (even if you did all 3, just do one again) then the achievement pops :) It seems the game is tracking the past 31 days instead of tracking the actual month?

Building on everyone's work here, I think my experience just getting this will be useful to someone. I actually used the date change trick earlier this month. I picked a month last year and went through days 1-31 in order playing one challenge for each day. Achievement popped in the game at 31 but then when I changed the time back to the present it didn't pop in the system and all my progress was deleted when it synced to the system.
Today being the end of the month, I decided to do it all over again for the present month. In this case, when I got to the last day of the month I just change the date back to "set time automatically" and the system will be synced as well. It worked perfectly.
Some notes:
1. I did NOT disconnect my internet connection for any of this. I only changed the date manually by right-clicking bottom right time/calendar and selecting "adjust date and time."
2. I only started Minesweeper once and never closed it, although I returned to the main screen from the Daily Challenges before changing the date each time. (I don't know if this was necessary but that's how I did it.)
3. After completing a daily challenge and backing to the main screen and then changing the system date, the prior day would still show on the Daily Challenges. Ignore it, but after selecting Daily Challenges make sure to press the right arrow to the next day (which won't be greyed out because you already changed the system date). After pressing right to the "present" date, play one challenge and then back to the main screen and change to the next date and so on.
4. As I mentioned above, once I got to the actual last day of the month (which was the real date), I just reset the system back to "set time automatically" and then just played one challenge for the true present day as normal. All the credit for the prior days of the month was properly given as though they had been played on their respective days and the achievement popped normally as I completed this last daily challenge, which was the only one done on the actual true date.
5. This didn't take very long at all just playing an easy challenge from each day after changing the date. The most annoying part was the 30 second ads for each play.

For those for whom this achievement is not unlocking. The easiest and best way is to download an older version. Much like the Jigsaw Achievements that aren't unlocking. The older version did reset my progress on the monthly medals so it would pay to either do this first or leave it until you have all the monthly Bronze Silver and Gold ones.
An older and safe version can be found here. This is the same archival site which the older Jigsaw version can be downloaded from.
https://www.appx4fun.com/xap/55441/
You can then do the date change and play one daily challenge thing. The achievement unlocked on the last day of the month even though I failed it.
Update: after updating to the newer version after unlocking the achievement my monthly medals progress was restored.
Good luck!

Would not let me download, said it is not secure. Is there a way to get around this?
Update: Was able to download and was able to pop the achievement.

This has been the last achievement for me for so long, and this finally got it to unlock for me. Thank you so much! I can finally uninstall this mess and move on with my life. It does list the file as unsecure, but you can click on 'Keep Anyway' or something like that to install it.

The trophy means that you need to start completing tasks on the first day of the month, and complete one of the tasks of the current day every day. The trophy will drop on the last day of the month, after completing the next task.
