You get this for finding a grid block in the regular game mode that is surrounded by at least 6 mines. Adventure mode or Daily Challenges don't seem to count. However, replays of the same board do not count, so you have to get really, really lucky. I tried spamming the board with clicks on Expert mode for a few minutes (the solutions for this achievement on the Win8 version of Minesweeper suggest this) but didn't have any luck.
What worked for me was playing normally, on Medium difficulty, and going for the 1-2-2-1 achievement in the mean time:
I uncovered a square with '6' on it, but nothing popped. Only when I hit a mine and died, did it unlock.
Here's what my board looked like, for what it's worth:

The 1-2-2-1 achievement in Microsoft Minesweeper (Windows) worth 94 pointsWhen the pattern 1-2-2-1 is revealed, uncover the 2 safe tiles within 3 seconds... 20 times.

Is it luck to get 6 or more mines? I haven't had any yet on medium.

Yeah it's pretty rare. But it's easier than doing it on hard.

There is probably an error in the description, since the easiest way is to enter your own map and create the dimensions, leave them as they are, but set the number of mines to the maximum. We play and get blown up, the achievement will pop out.

Perhaps this was an achievement bug and was not fixed, so the method of creating your own version, or repeating the previous game, worked.
This achievement now works as it should. It is best to do this on an expert difficulty board, since it is easier to get a square with the number 6-8 there. We just play, mark with flags where the mines are, so as not to accidentally click. We find the number 6 or higher, remove the mines near the number if they are checked, and then click on the mine. The field explodes, we get the achievement.
