Microsoft Solitaire Collection

There are several collections you can choose, but the most efficient route is the Classic collection. You can finish Classic without touching any other collection. Other collections require at least 340 stars to unlock all content, so you would need to partially play multiple collections.

If you get stuck, consult Zeming Jin's Classic YouTube playlist. It contains every Hard and Expert challenges, along with a few Mediums. All credit goes to Zeming Jin for these excellent videos.

Timed Challenge Trick
You can pause the clock by doing the following.
1. Swipe up on a touch screen or hit ESC.
2. Select Overview at the bottom of the screen.
The clock is now paused. Do not select Continue as you will lose all progress.
3. When you're ready to go again, select Cancel.

All of Zeming Jin's videos finish with plenty of time, so now the timed challenges should be no problem.

Free Cell Solver
Thanks to geodile42 for reminding me of this Free Cell Solver. It should solve any Easy or Medium challenge causing you trouble. It did not work for some of the Hard or Expert challenges which required a solution in a low number of moves, since the default solver isn't that efficient. (Choosing the Short Solutions option always timed out for me.) I still had to use the videos for some Hard and Expert Free Cell.

Here's example input (from March 25). Note that T = 10. Each row corresponds to a column on the board. So in this example, the most buried card of the first column is the Jack of Spades and the top card is the Ace of Diamonds.

I don't know if there is a way to enter the partially solved challenges, but those tend to be marked Easy. I don't remember any of those giving me trouble.

Edit: As of some time yesterday (26th of June) the playlist made by Zemin Jin is set to private, I'll check the comming days if they will be public again. thanks to Nuckinn for making me aware of this in the comment section.

As of 22 of June 2015 there is a new Star Club called 25 Anniversary. There are only 10 challenges in this club. Beware they're all hard (4*) challenges! But there's also good news, there is a guy on youtube named Zeming Jin. He has a playlist where he completes every challenge of this star club, so just have a second screen next to your computer to play the video. In my opinion the first three challanges are the hardest because they are timed.
One last thing, the stars needed to unlock the semi finals and finales are gained by completing the qualifier challanges, so you don't need to play other clubs to earn stars!

I suggest you a new collection: Easy collection.

80 easy levels of Spider, Klondike, Freecell, Pyramid, TriPeaks, some of this need less than 1 minute to complete.
For me it's the fastest solution.

The top solution is still valid but a little bit outdated.
In the meantime there are new challenges, especially:
The 25th Anniversary Tournament

These are just 10(!) challenges to complete, but expert ones.
The other solution here on TA got only 5/10 challenges covered.

If you worry about time limits you can just pause your game by pressing the left arrow in the top left corner. The timer will stop. To continue press 'Cancel' in the showing dialogue box.

This should be the fastest way to get the achievement by now.
And if you follow Zeming's path by the book it should be an easy completion as well.
