How to unlock the Go for the Gold achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection - Definitive Guide
Hey all,
This achievement will take you at least 8 months to complete and will require you to complete most, if not all, challenges found on a single day. I figured I'd post all solutions I could find for all challenges starting March 1st, 2015. These will mostly only consist out of the harder ones I can find on YouTube, but they should help you nevertheless. If you find another solution, feel free to add them into the comments or send me a PM and I'll gladly paste it in.
Sashamorning mentioned that you are able to rewind the clock to December to complete those challenges as well. As such, I thought it would be useful to add video guides for those as well. Instead of the spoiler as I did with the current month, I've created a playlist. These will be updated once YouTube is up and running again since it seems those servers are down at the time of writing
December 2014 solutions (not created yet)
January 2015 solutions (under construction)
Note: No solutions found for the following days: 1,
February 2015 solutions
Note: No solutions found for the following days: 5, 6, 24, 27 and 28
Note: The video for 15/02/2015 says FreeCell but is actually Spider
March 2015 solutions
April 2015 solutions
May 2015 Solutions
Edit: Instead of linking actual videos, I'll be linking a playlist with all solutions. In case one of them doesn't get recorded, let me know and I'll search for a link or create it myself.
Thanks

I'm no cardgame-wizzard, but I have had some trouble with the Pyramid one from 2nd of March. Not sure if there is some sort of website somewhere were they have all solutions for all the cardgames. The first pyramid almost seems unsolvabale

The key to Pyramids is to use as much cards as possible already on the table to get the "13". It takes a bit of puzzling, but it's manageable. Once you got that figured out, future games will be really easy.

If you want to save money and get 2 gold badges for the price of 1 using premium, simply buy a premium one month pass around the middle of the month, it will last 30 days straight, and you can get the best of premium for two months instead of one because doing 15 or so days of challenges will get you gold even if you dont complete all challenges each day.

These are the long achievements. As you complete daily challenges, you'll earn points towards medals. The exact number of points needed for each medal varies by month, but you'll need to complete around 60% of the challenges to get a gold medal. You can only get one of each type of medal per month, so it'll take eight months to unlock "Go for the Gold," ten months for "Go for the Silver," and a full year to get "Go for the Bronze."
You can track your unlocked medals by clicking on 'Prize History.'
Each month allows you to unlock one of each type of daily challenge badge, meaning you'll have to earn the 8 gold badges over 8 months, 10 silver badges over 10 months, and 12 bronze over 12 months. So it will take a total of 12 calendar months to earn the required badges for these achievements. You could earn a badge as each month comes up, or to speed things up, change the date on your Windows 10 device to the last day of the months to have access to all daily challenges for that month, then complete whichever ones you prefer.
Here are the requirements for each of the badges:
One way to speed this up is to upgrade to Premium. For $2.00, you get double the coins in Daily Challenge mode and all ads removed. I highly recommend upgrading, as it will save you at least 20 hours of grinding daily challenges to unlock all the required badges, but it comes to how much you value your time versus your money, and whether or not you think you'll actually enjoy doing all the daily challenges or not. One other important aspect of the Premium upgrade is that your Windows 10 device only stores the expiration date of your upgrade, not the date you bought it. Because of this, if you upgrade to Premium on September 1st, 2017, and your Premium expires on October 1st, 2017, all your device looks at is if it's before or after October 1st, 2017. This means when you change your date to past months to earn daily challenge badges, you will still get double coins for the Premium upgrade. This means a one month Premium upgrade gives you essentially an unending Premium bonus, making it even more worth it.
With the Premium upgrade, it will still take around a third of the challenges to reach gold (so at least 50 challenges) and double that without Premium, so you're looking at a ton of challenges each month to earn the required badges.
As far as the challenges themselves, refer to the "Strive for Perfection" achievement solution for more information.
Here are the requirements for each of the badges:
- Bronze - 3000
- Silver - 9000
- Gold - 17000
- Diamond - 25000
