How to unlock the King Of The Hill achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection - Definitive Guide

If you've already done this on WP8, play one game of Solitaire and this will pop.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (WP)King of the HillThe King of the Hill achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection (WP) worth 11 pointsWin 100 Solitaire games.

This is for completing 100 of one of those games, not cumulative. 100 games of Klondike counts, 40/30/30 doesn't. Also, daily challenges do not count as games. Thanks ShadyShall for the clarification.

In terms of consistently fast games, I would rate Klondike on Deal 1 as the fastest, followed by Freecell and Spider on One Suit being equally slow. Spider on One Suit can be done quickly, but this is the consistently longest game, so unless you've been playing Spider for a while, it's not a good option. Similarly, Freecell can be confusing, and games can last anywhere from 3-8 minutes.

Previously the fastest way to do this was Freecell, but with an update, choosing a specific deal no longer works. I've left the old solution intact in the spoiler tag below in case anyone's interested.

Daily challenges do not count toward this then?

Daily Challenges do NOT count. It is also worth noting the clarification that you must have 100 games won in ONE of the game modes, not across all 3.

Good to note. I'll update the solution accordingly.

I guess I have no real reason to not play the WP version now.

Thanks for this solution and the others you put up for this game! I despise Freecell, but with this guide, it was super easy. I saw in your other solution that you finished it in 8 seconds, the best I could do was 9 seconds. I guess I'm just not as fast as you. Thanks again! toast

Thank you for this. My fastest time right now is 9 seconds. If anyone wants a small tip to move the cards faster, right click any card you plan to move up to Foundation or Free Cell. It does it for you. Forget the double click or dragging.

7 seconds now. If anyone gets 6 seconds, I would be amazed. Hah.

Oh damn. Nice one. I could just not pull off 6 seconds. 7 was hard enough.

Does star club count towards this?

I freely admit to guessing, but the likely answer is no. Star Club is in the same vein as Daily Challenges.

Great solution, you can finish a game in as little as 8 seconds once you memorize what to move.

This no longer works. I think they changed it in the recent update. It says game "this game will not count toward your statistics" I even played a few games and my games played is still at 10.

Hello, If you backup the file of any game (for example, the klondike.bin.ark) you can boost any of the 5 games just leaving 1 card in the board, copying the file, solve the game, exit, paste the old file, open the game, solve, exit and repeat.

If you just search for Klondike, you should be able to click open file location in the search results.

To find the file, open your file folder and click on "My PC." Then, in the search box, type "klondike.bin.ark" - The search may take a while if you have a ton of files, but eventually it will show up. Right click "klondike.bin.ark" and "Open File Location." Congrats! You can now do Sioul's method. Thank you so much for that Sioul, I never thought I would have 25 wins in 60 games of single card Solitaire. WTF is with the algorithm in Win8? More than half these games are unwinnable; this was no where near as difficult in Win 10.

You can still do a specific game on freecell on WP8
Also having two WIN8 devices allows really fast cloud syncing of regular Klondike:

[Device] Action
[1] Stop on last card of Klondike

***
[1]Win+Tab to upload to cloud
[2]Open game from cloud
[1]Win+Tab back into game
[2]Finish game
***

Then just loop between the ***
The cloud upload/download was almost instantaneous for me, it meant each game took about 10 seconds

If you have a Windows Phone you can quickly get a lot of wins.

1) Get close to completing a game on the first device and then exit to the menu.
2) Then load up the cloud save on the second device and beat the game.
3) Then on the first device go back to the game, pick "Local" over the cloud save, and then exit to the menu again.
4) Repeat.

did this get patched? It seems that it is taking my cloud save from W10 not W8

I'm not sure if it got patched or not. I think Win10 is the "default" over Win8 at this point for cloud saves. Can't you do the same thing with Win8 and Win10?
1) Get close to beating a game on Win10.
2) Loading up the cloud save on Win8.
3) Beating on Win8.
4) Go back to Win10 and pick "Local".
5) Repeat.

See All Hands on Deck

This achievement is for winning 100 games of Klondike, Spider, OR FreeCell. Mixing and matching will not work. It has to be one hundred wins in a single category. You can keep track of your wins in each play type on the "Statistics" screen.

Daily challenges do not count towards this total.

There are two easy ways to go about this.
1. Play Klondike. I think it's the easiest of the three game types and you'll almost certainly unlock "Flipping Out" along the way.

2. Find a particular FreeCell game that you can complete quickly and then replay it over and over again. Each win will count towards your total even though it's the same game multiple times. You can set your game number (appears in the top right corner of the game) by starting up FreeCell, bringing up "Settings," and clicking "Game Options." At the very top is a field where you can enter a specific game number.

Note that wins in the Star Club and Daily Challenge modes (when you get the "Solve the deck" requirement) don't count towards this achievement unfortunately.

This achievement will come naturally while working on the "Blizzard of Bliss," "Web Surfing," and "Alcatraz Escape" achievements, since you'll need to win 100 games of each. This achievement requires a combined win total of 100 across all three games, so you'll unlock this achievement at the one-third point. Refer to each individual achievement listed above for more details about winning each game mode. As with all achievements, difficulty does not affect this achievement.
