How to unlock the Go for the Gold achievement in Microsoft Solitaire - Definitive Guide

*** This solution is intended for the PC version of the game. ***

This achievement can be attained while working towards the "Go for the Silver" and "Go for the Bronze" achievements.

With Microsoft Solitaire Collection closed, change your computer's date to one year prior (So the same month you're currently in but last year. I usually chose the 25th of the month to have enough days available). Next start up Microsoft Solitaire Collection. ** If you want to get the achievements quicker I recommend buying the Premium Edition. ** Now start doing the Daily Challenges starting from the first date of the month. Try to do all five challenges for each day. If you are stuck on a challenge, skip it to save yourself the time. Assuming you've purchased the Premium Edition it will take you about 10-12 days of challenges to get the Gold Badge. Now close Microsoft Solitaire Collection and change the date to the following month. Reopen Microsoft Solitaire Collection and repeat the process until you have received the Gold Badge for eight months.

Once you've done 8 months of Gold Badges you can start working towards Silver Badges. You will only need to do so for 2 months since you've already received 8 Silver Badges while working towards Gold. Silver Badges take you about 5-7 days of challenges, assuming you've purchased the Premium Edition. Once you've done the Silver Badges you can do 2 more months of Bronze Badges only. This should take you 2-3 days of daily challenges.

If for some reason the achievement doesn't pop, close Microsoft Solitaire Collection and change the date back to today's date. Reopen Microsoft Solitaire Collection and the achievement should pop right away.

** Some people have reported glitches on getting the achievement to pop. I have never had this issue on any Microsoft Collection I played, so I cannot confirm whether it is "glitchy." **

** I don't know if this method would work on a mobile device. I cannot confirm whether it does or not. **

** 2019 Update - A user has stated that they cannot use Premiums services on the prior months. I no longer have Premium, so I cannot confirm this. Either way the solution works but it will take longer. **

At iOS, i need to follow below step to ensure it works.

1) Use current date, open Solitaire
2) Wait until it sync data
3) Once synced, switch to setting and change the month you need to work with
4) Double click home button to switch back to Solitaire
5) Keep playing until you grab the badges needed
6) Once done, switch back to current date and check the Awards to ensure it register

As i'm still working towards 8 bronze/10 silver/12 gold badges, i'll left 1 badges for each type until the current month to have the correct time.

For reference
Bronze: 3000 coins
Silver: 9000 coins
Gold: 17000 coins

Challenge award
(1 star) Easy: 100 coins
(2 stars) Medium: 150 coins
(3 stars) Hard: 200 coins
(4 stars) Expert: 300 coins

Clearing all challenges in 1 day with 250 coins bonus. In average you can grab around 1000 coins per day with completing all challenges.

As a result, for free version with AD, you can get
3 days for bronze, 9 days for silver, 17 days for gold

If you pay for premium you get double rewards. i.e.
1.5 days for bronze, 4.5 days for silver and 8.5 days for gold which make it much faster, with time changing method, you can definitely finish that while pay for 1 month premium if you need to get it done asap (if you need correct time stamp then buy the premium around the start of current month then work all the way back until you got 1 badges left for each category)

My progress bars appear to be stuck for each of the medal achievements. I started going for these in Dec 2016. I currently have 4 bronze, 3 silver and 3 gold but the progress bars are currently showing 3 bronze, 2 silver and 1 gold. I didn't get silver or gold medals in Jan 2017 during that timeline. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I play this on iOS too but don't do the challenges on it as I've paid for the Premier Edition on Win 10 and do them on that.

Im not sure. If you're not following the solution unfortunately I'm not going to be familiar with your situation.

I suggest you follow my solution and go back to January 2016 on your computer. This way you can do all the months from January to November 2016. After you do January 2016, fix your date to today and see if the progress tracker adjusts and includes March 2017.

I don't know if it works for iOS. When I wrote the solution daily challenges weren't available on iOS.

Yea that's how I did it. For this achievement you only need 8 months though. If I was you I would do it like this: Close Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Change computer's date to 4/1/16, open Microsoft Solitaire Collection, get the gold star for April 2016. Next close Microsoft Solitaire Collection, change the date to today's date, open Solitaire Collection, check "Awards and Achievements." You should now have two Gold stars (one for 2016 and one for 2017). Now repeat that process for May - November 2016. Once you get back to today's date the achievement should pop once you open Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

I'm aware I only need 8 months for this Achievement, lol. Going for Silver and Bronze too, that's all. Will try it when I can be bothered. Thanks for quick responses anyway. :)

When I purchase the premium for 1 month nothing happen. I needed just 1 more to complete this achievement. I did some research and found out in Windows 10 a service is turned off preventing from getting any achievements from the Microsoft Solitaire Collection, and Mahjong. Type in services.msc scroll down to Connected user experience Telemetry
change it to automatic. My achievements started popping after I did this.

I just completed March challenges for 2017. I'm assuming I need to do the 12 Bronze / 10 Silver / 8 Gold in 1 calendar year (Jan-Dec) but not 100% sure? Was wondering if I could switch my PC calendar back to Jan / Feb to knock those out and then continue from April with the aim of finishing in December. Will switching my clock/calendar settings back to Jan/Feb 2017 work?

Yea it should work. That's how I did the achievement. Matter fact if I was you I would go back to January 2016. This way you can do 11 months by going all the way to November 2016. After you're done with November and you change your pc date to the current date the achievement should pop.

So the month I just did (March 2017) would add on to the 11 months of 2016 I go back and finish?

Anybody else's golds not registering? I got the perfection and diamond achievements last month, which means I got gold, too. The totals say I have 1 gold currently, but the achievement tally says I have 0. Did the free month of premium screw that up or something?

Do the medal totals sync up after you get the last ones in the current month?

They do/did for me. I know some people say they got problems with it but I'm currently playing Microsoft Jigsaw and I'm using this same method and it works.

After you get your medal, close out the Microsoft Solitaire program, change the date back to the current one, reopen Microsoft Solitaire and it should sync up. That's how I did/do it and it always works. I've never had a problem yet.

Sorry I wouldn't know why. I didn't write that but it is true that it worked for me that way. After I purchased premium I changed my PC's date to a year back and premium worked just fine for me. Not sure if a recent update changed this. I no longer have premium so I can't check for you either. Sorry.

If anybody else confirms that it is not working for prior months I'll add it as a note to the solution.

any idea why the premium isn't showing as usable for the 'earlier' months? i'm sure i read somewhere it only checked if it was purchased and not if it was within the current month.

I have issues with some medals not registering, according to my awards page I have 7 golds and silvers and an extra bronze on a previous month so 8 in total. However in the Xbox app I only have 6 gold and silver but the bronze is correct at 8. I've gone back to each gold month and done a few more events just in case something's not registering but it's not fixed it.

It's not possible to tell which gold/silver medals it's not counting. This month I have won the medals on Android so I've played a few games from the end of this month but I saw the totals increment when I won them.

Not the end of the world but a bit annoying considering you need about 90 events to get a gold.

For those that can't get this to pop or progress to register, try setting the date back to today and play until you unlock any medal. I went back to get gold on some past months (October 2018 was the latest one) and the tracker didn't update. When I got a bronze medal this morning for the current month, Go For The Gold suddenly unlocked. The tracker may only update with MS when your clock is in sync.

I have 6/8 in tracker but 8 in total. Probably will have to wait until October to get at least the bronze medal to sync gold medals properly. Fingers crossed it will work. Don't want to keep 98% completion after wasting 100+ hours and 6 month of premium into this grinding machine.

Am having the same issue as Taras. sadly, just now I got diamond for this month, an it still didn't update properly. So hopefully it will sync up again once I hit gold, or bronze next month.

Got another bronze medal naturally. Still 6/8 in tracker. F me and F this game. I will try to get gold this month. If it won’t move, I will move along with this BS.

Taras Buria I got bronze this morning, an only my bronze medal status updated correctly somewhat. Am now sitting at 8/12 although its post to be 9/12 but it did count this months bronze medal. If gold is the last one you need then you may need to earn the last 2 medals naturally. My silver, an gold didn't update when i got bronze. Only bronze did kinda

Just got my last Bronze medal. In the end, only the ones I unlocked naturally counted, and none of the ones I did on PC with the clock set back. My stats say 13 bronze medals unlocked.

I noticed my bronze medal randomly went up 1 today. So, i completed jan. 2019 an popped a silver medal an then the silver achivevment popped. did the same for dec. 2018 am then my bronze achievement popped. It appears previous months medals are now working again for these achievements

This solution is also good for the following achievements:
Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP)Go for the BronzeThe Go for the Bronze achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) worth 82 pointsWin 12 bronze Daily Challenge badges

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP)Go for the SilverThe Go for the Silver achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) worth 129 pointsWin 10 silver Daily Challenge badges

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP)Diamonds are ForeverThe Diamonds are Forever achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) worth 96 pointsWin a diamond Daily Challenge badge

All the solutions above have mostly only explained how to get to the previous months, but not how to get the medals the fastest way possible.

1. I just got the monthly subscription to get more points. You should do the same if you want to take the FASTEST way!

2. In the meantime, it is also possible to go to the previous months and years without any problems.
--

But what is now the fastest way to level?

I guess...

1. Go to January 2019

2. Now start playing Klondike one day at a time. (Klondike is BY FAR the easiest mode you can play.)

Now you have two different options.

I do it so that I get all the BRONZE medals first. When I'm done with it, I'll go back to January 2019 and keep playing Klondike until I have SILVER and go to next month. I do the same with GOLD but from then on you probably have to switch to the other modes as well.
Of course, you can also just get gold directly every month. Just play Klondike every day for the month and once there's no Klondike left you play another variation where you're good with.
Why Klondike?

If you have any questions, suggestions, or critic, the best way to tell me is the comment-section :)

Don't want to wait 8-12 months for these monthly badges?

Changing the month on your PC; go to Time and Date Settings, uncheck automatic time and date, and pick a date around the 28th of each month; complete enough challenges in each month to get the achievements. Note that challenges are not designed far in advance, so the furthest you can set the clock ahead is about a week.

I did buy premium for month, both to grab the medals faster, and the game is well-designed and pretty and content should be paid for etc. /sermon

You can use this method to get
Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP)MarathonThe Marathon achievement in Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) worth 131 pointsCome back each day of an entire month and complete at least one Daily Challenge
You must start on the 1st and shift the day forward one day after completing at least one challenge. Remember to CLOSE the app before shifting the day.

New solution following KillaQueens515 PC method as of 2019

KillaQueens515 gave a good method however since about a year or two ago your premium cannot follow to previous months. But I have found a workaround to help speed this grind up.

1.) Make sure you are premium. It is 1.99 membership that blocks ads and give extra coins.

2.) Change date to any prior month.

3.) Open Daily Challenges under your non premium month you chose (ex. Im doing June 2019). DO NOT START ANY GAME YET OR BACK OUT TO MAIN MENU!

4.) Switch the date back to the current date and voila!!!!!!! You have premium for the previous months. Downside is that every game(day) you finish, it takes you back to the current month dates but you just use this method every time as long as you are a premium member.

ALSO from what I heard if achievement don't unlock, just get a medal in current time to sync up with servers.toast

This guide applies to all four of the medal achievements.
I think you now need to buy a month of premium to access the later challenges. I tried the date change method and the medals did not add to the counter. (Plus, premium lets you get the medals twice as fast, so much more efficient)

Go to this website for the solutions to the challenges:
https://solutions-microsoft-solitaire-collection.com/daily-c...

And start back at January 2020. As the year progresses, the guy seemingly gets quicker at solving the challenges. (He gets better at Solitaire) so I'd do January and February with Bronze medals, March and April with Silver medals, May through November with gold medals, and December with a Diamond. A gold medal CAN be achieved by doing them all in order, but that is simply not the fastest way.

In this section I'm referring to the length of the video solutions that you'll be following for the challenges. Spider and Pyramid tend to be the longest ones. Some spider ones are upwards of 5 and a half minutes, with the longest one being 11 minutes! Pyramid is generally around 2 and a half minutes, but what makes it as bad as Spider is because there's never rarely an "Easy" (Short) one that is less than a minute and a half, and they can reach up to four minutes. So, logically start at day one of a month and before doing a challenge, check Spider and Pyramid. If they're longer than you wish, say 2 minutes and 50 seconds or above, you can just move onto the next day, and forget about the other challenges, even if they're short. However, if you see a short expert challenge around that you want to snag you can do that since they give a lot of points, or also if there's a longer one that's about 3 minutes and is an expert challenge, just go ahead and do the whole day. You can skip several days in the month and still get gold, so try to avoid the long ones. Like I said earlier, Spider is the crucial one because it can be as low as 40 or 50 seconds, but can range up to 11 minutes. So that's the one you'll most likely be checking to decide whether you want to start a day.

One more tip for this, it is extremely helpful to play the videos on 0.5 speed, so you can just follow what the guy does and never have to pause the video. This makes it progress twice as slow, but ultimately is faster since you're never pausing. Once you get better, and you will, you will be able to almost predict what the guy will do since you know what the logical best move is. Once you get to this point, you can play the videos on 0.75 or even normal speed.

ALL of the medals took me about 60 hours. (12 bronze, 10 silver, 8 gold, 1 diamond)
