How to unlock the Marathon achievement in Microsoft Solitaire - Definitive Guide
This achievement has changed as of 11/2015. You have to log in once a day and do a daily challenge for it to work. You no longer can get this achievement by trying to do this on certain days of the month.

I can confirm that after an entire month of challenges, this achievement did not pop since I didn't not do them daily.

Initially it seems by looking at the description that you have to come back every day of the month, but this is simply not true.
With this new windows 10 version, there is a calendar that you can click on to select the challenges for each day, if you do one for each day you will get the achievement.
I installed Windows 10 on my computer on July 30th, I had not played the Windows 8 version since there were only 3 achievements. Some of the achievements for the Windows 10 version popped from my Windows 8 cloud save, this was not one of them.
I played the challenge for the 30th on the 30th, then on the 31st i did the 31st and 1st-29th. Took a couple of hours, but I wanted to see if it would work and it did.
I also got the bronze badge for the month doing it this way.
So if you miss a day all is not lost, you can go back and get the day you missed, just make sure to do the last day on the last day of the month, as the calendar is only monthly, not yearly.

This was good to know. I only installed windows10 on the 29 of August so I quickly played (and won)the easiest daily challenge for each day of the month for August. Just past mid-night (local time by the way), I won a daily challenge for Aug 31 and I had the achievement.

Since the last update, this achievement has become more difficult because of the dedication required to get it, as the description suggests.
Here's what to do if you choose the legit, but longer way :
- You have to do this in the Daily Challenge section of the game (with the calendar on it), not the Star Club ;
- There is a counter, in the Prizes and Achievements section, that tracks your progression for this achievement. Be sure to check every day that your progress has been saved successfully. The counter is month dependent, so if the month has 31 days, it requires you complete 31 daily challenges. So obviously the shortest month to start this achievement is February.
- You must start this on a month that you will have access to your PC and Internet every day, because you need to be online to do the Daily Challenge. Also, it must be done in the same month and cannot overlap another one even if the achievement counter seems to record your progress ;
- Every day, you have five (5) challenges to complete, one for each type of solitaire card game (Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, TriPeaks. The difficulty ranges from easy to expert among the different type of game. But there is at least one (1) easy challenge in the lot ;
- You have to win at least one (1) challenge per day between midnight and 11h59 PM, local time, that specific day of the month, starting the 1st of the month. I suggest you go for the easy ones to save you time, because it takes about five (5) minutes per challenge to do them. Also, I personnaly prefer the Pyramid and the TriPeaks challenges because it is easier to recover from a bad move. If you have trouble resolving a challenge, you can always find the solution on YouTube (by typing "Microsoft Solitaire" + date + type of card game).
- Then, you must come back every day, continuously, to complete a challenge. You cannot miss a day and, as I said before, you cannot overlap two months, because in both cases the counter resets. To resume you must start on the 1st and finish on the last day of the month (28th, 29th, 30th or 31st) by winning a daily challenge every day in a row.
- If you done this correctly, you will get these achievements along the way :

Currently sitting on 35 "days completed" and still no achievement...

Is the Marathon achievement counter, in the Prizes and Achievements section, showing 35/31? If this is the case, it is a synchronization problem.
In general, you can resolve this by :
- Connecting on another device to synchronize your progression ;
- Doing another challenge or card game session when you are connected to Xbox Live and have an active internet connection ;
- Going on the Xbox.com website to track your achievements for this game.
Hope it can help you

While it is true that challenges must be completed in sequence and on the corresponding day, you do not have to wait and remember to do so for each day.
Simply change the date on your PC to the 1st of a month in which you have no completed challenges (preferably a month with 31 days, to keep it simple); go to Time and Date Settings, uncheck automatic time and date. Note that challenges are not designed very far in advance, so the furthest you can set the clock ahead is about a week.
Complete at least one challenge for the 1st. A great achievement to combine this method with is:
Which will automatically net you
I did buy premium for a month, both to grab the medals faster, and because the game is well-designed and pretty and content should be paid for etc. /sermon

As of when i post this.
You can do 1 challenge of each day of the previous month
in the daily challenges via the calendar and going to the previous month
This can also be done with the gimme 5 achievement.
