How to unlock the Go for the Gold achievement in Microsoft Sudoku - Definitive Guide

You can earn ONE Gold badge per month. In order to earn the Gold Badge you must earn 12000 coins during the month. You do this by completing daily challenges. New Challenges are added each day until the last day of the month. You can go back and play challenges from previous days, but only challenges marked on the calendar for the current month.

The earliest this Achievement can be legitimately earned is January 2015.

I set the clock back to June and it know shows that I have a Bronze unlocked for June, it will take a while to check to see if this works or not.

You can now set your clock to the end of any previous month and obtain the badges for that months challenges, notice going back more than 2 months will disable signing into xbox live but you can still get the badges for that month.

Edited for clarity. You can only do challenges for the current month. Also, the game just released in June and only had Daily Challenges starting for June. The sooner you start the sooner you can get the achievement.

Just wanted to add to what the two other guides have said. I have found that you can change the date on your computer to go back to previous months. Once you get a bronze medal in a previous month, change your date back to the current day, and you will see you have all of your medals plus the medal for the month you just got with the date change.

To clarify, here is an example. I have two golds for February, and March. Change the date on your computer to January 30th (or any other day relatively far into the month) and then boot up the game. Do enough dailies to get a gold medal then quit out of the game. Change your date back to the appropriate day then load the game back up. If you check which medals you have you will see that January is now among your earned medals.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can clarify the solution in the comments.

Are you sure this still works? I got "Error Code 00200" when trying to skip from 04/30 to 07/30 for example...

Make sure the year is right. If you go into the future it won't work, you have to go to previous months for it to work.

It is still in fact working for me.

Works fine on Win10. Set date to june 2016 and unlocked the bronze badge for that month. Synced fine after setting date back to today.

These achievements require that you earn 8 Gold and 12 Bronze Daily Challenge Badges. Daily Challenges consist of short puzzles that generally require you to complete a certain number of rows, columns, or shapes. Unlike standard Sudoku, Daily Challenges have symbols instead of numbers, or have irregular shaped "houses," instead of the typical 3x3 grids. There are three Daily Challenges each day. Completing a challenge will award coins based on the difficulty of the challenge. 100 coins for Easy, 150 for Medium, 200 coins for Hard, and 300 coins for Expert. If you complete all three challenges for a day, you will earn an additional 150 coins. These coins are cumulative from the first day of the month to the last. Challenges for a given month are only available until the final day of the month, but not in advance. For example, August 15th challenge will become available on August 15th, and remain available until August 31st. You can circumvent this limitation by advancing your computer's time to the last day of the current month. All challenges for the current month will be available.

To earn a Bronze Badge, you must get 2,000 coins throughout the month. To get Gold, you need 12,000 coins. The difficulties of the challenges are random, so the amount of coins available in a given month will vary. In general, completing all three challenges on about 20 days in a month should be enough to earn Gold.

You could choose to play the Daily Challenges each day that they become available. This would require a daily commitment of 5 to 10 minutes, depending on Sudoku skill. Alternatively, you could just wait until the end of the month when all challenges are available and power through them. This will total to around 2 to 5 hours of playtime to obtain Gold, but less than one hour to grab Bronze.

You may replay challenges from previous months to accomplish this achievement. To do this, make sure your system clock is set to the correct time and date before you open Microsoft Sudoku. Once the program is opened and you have logged into Xbox Live, change your system time to the last day of a previous month, then go into the daily challenges and view all of the challenges for the month the same way you would normally. Note: You *must* open the game while your system's time is accurate, or you won't be able to log in, and you won't be able to access the challenges to begin with.
