How to unlock the Totally Decked Out achievement in Microsoft Treasure Hunt - Definitive Guide
There is a pretty handy exploit you can use to make this WAY quicker than normal.
To do this you need to be able to "save" your game and go back to an earlier version.
You can do this by playing on two different devices (which gives you a bit more flexibility) or on a single device. I'll detail this method since it's applicable to more people.
How to "Backup"
1. Exit the game and go offline. (Either use airplane mode, turn off your wifi, or disconnect/disable your ethernet as appropriate.)
2. Relaunch, and play or do whatever you want.
3. Close the game, go online.
4. Relaunch the game and click play, it will ask you if you want to use your online or local save. Be sure to choose ONLINE.
You'll be back to where you were at step 1. But a few things will carry over, notably upgrades purchased (although they won’t be visible until you have (I think) started two new levels, including respawning with the amulet), and lifetime gold earned will go up (but not the amount you have in game). You can abuse this to get 5 million gold. (Back up at the end of a level where you earned a lot of gold, like one with a bonus mine. Finish the level, then go back to your earlier save. You can repeat as many times as you want, easily getting 100k each time if you are on later levels.)
I'm going to go through all the warnings/disclaimers first before covering the process.
My personal experience was I had gotten both heart upgrades and then after reaching the next 2 stores and reloading several times at each was only seeing shields. I decided to just suicide after reaching the store and see what would come up a few times. I got two upgrades I needed in a row, then went back to my earlier save. I tried again and saw that I had kept those two upgrades.
I mentioned this to a friend who had gotten stuck with only getting shield upgrades, and he had a slightly different experience.
Warning 1: You are offline, so achievements won't pop immediately. Obviously once the final upgrade shows up you can go back online before buying it. But if you are getting other achievements on the way for map tubes/dynamite/or picks, be aware they might not pop up when you go back online. For my friend, they did pop once he was back online and picked up some gold, but your mileage may vary. Of course, worst case, if you need to, you could always reset your progress and use this exploit just focusing on the items you need.
Warning 2: It was also his experience that the heart upgrades were not retained after restoring the save. So it might go more smoothly if you have at least one of those purchased before starting (so you just need one more), and save it for your last upgrade. Alternatively save a little extra gold (like 175k) so you can afford both heart upgrades without having to reload in between. Either way you can buy them online after you finish getting all the other upgrades. (Of course you can die and use the amulet to do it quickly and just go online as soon as you see the 5th heart in the store, but before actually buying it.)
Warning 3: My friend said he seemed to not have upgrades show up normally after abusing this exploit. He didn't have quite enough to purchase the final upgrades and had trouble getting them to show up once he had progressed further, and ended up having to reset his progress and start over. So I would make sure you have enough money on hand before you start doing this.
Warning 4: it sounds like the above glitch could be related to purchasing another upgrade before you die/respawn and your prior upgrades are restored. So I would be sure to wait until they come back before buying any new upgrades, just to be safe. (I always had shields come up first, so it wasn’t an issue for me.)
The Exploit
If you haven't put it all together yet....
To prepare you need to have at least 150k gold (see below) at the end of a level prior to a store. More money will make it a little quicker, but not much.
1. "Backup" your game when you have enough money and are right at the end of a level prior to the store (15/20/25/30 etc.)
2. Continue your game offline and proceed to the level with the store.
3. Purchase an amulet and an upgrade if it is selling one you need. I recommend not purchasing an upgrade until you have respawned and your upgrades are showing up again.
4. Kill yourself, and repeat steps 3-4 until you are out of money. (For purposes of example lets say you went from 4 maps to 10 maps.)
5. Restore your "backup".
6. You will be back at the end of the previous level, with all your money, and it will seem like you have no upgrades. (In our example you would be back at a 4 map capacity.)
7. Repeat from step 1. (I would move a step or two so there is a change for it to save. I'm not sure this is strictly necessary but I did it just to be on the safe side and so I could tell whether my save had updated or not.) The trick here is that as soon as you suicide the 1st time (in step 4), your upgrades will be back, so you will have all of your money, as well as whatever upgrades you bought, plus you will be in position to repeat and get more.
As far as how much money you need, I recommend a minimum of 150k, since you will need at least 128k to purchase the final upgrades (to 30). But more coins means you can respawn more times and buy more upgrades before running out of money and having to reload. I had about 500k, but that is way more than you need.

I'll add my experience and course of action with this achievement. So, I got stuck in the packs of shields loop like most others and I reset my progress by re-installing the game, launching it offline, completing the first level, then re-launching it online and selecting to continue with the local save. Your statistics from the main menu won't reset by doing this and that's fine.
Then I continued the game on that save, amassing about 180k coins by the end of level 25 without dying (I did buy consumables on the way, including the amulet). I recommend having on hand at least that amount; continue to the end of level 30 if you don't have enough. Once I reached the end of level 25 with about 180k coins I stopped before taking the exit, backed out to the main menu and quit the game. Then I ran through the following cycle over and over until I had all upgrades:
0. Never buy packs of shields
1. Go offline and launch the game; wait in the main menu till statistics are loaded
2. Hit play, finish level 25 and proceed to level 26
3. Make sure you have/get the amulet
4. Buy whatever upgrade is offered (usually the pack of shield comes first; ignore it)
5. Die, buy the amulet and the upgrade, if offered one. Sometimes the pack of shields shows up again; ignore it. Keep repeating till you run out of coins, then die one last time and return Home (to main menu)
6. Close the game, go online, launch the game
7. Wait a bit in the main menu and hit play, choose cloud save during the loading. You'll be back to the exit of level 25 seemingly in the same state upgrade-wise as before you went offline. In reality the upgrades you bought while offline are preserved, but are just not loaded yet. They get loaded after you die at step 5.
8. Take a few steps near the exit of level 25, but don't enter it.
9. Back out to the main menu and close the game.
10. Repeat the cycle.
There is just one more quirk and that is about the health upgrades. If you buy the health upgrades offline and then later revert to the cloud save, you'll notice that the health upgrades are not preserved after you die at step 5 of the cycle, unlike the consumable upgrades. That's fine, you can buy them whenever they are offered, including the Ruby Heart and it won't mess anything up. Because the health upgrades are lost while repeating the cycle, naturally that means they'll be left for last. After you have all consumable upgrades (30 of each), in the following cycle more than likely you'll be offered the heart upgrades back to back. With 180k coins you'l have more than enough for both of them, even some spare amulets if the upgrades don't appear back to back.
Before clicking to buy the final upgrade, the Ruby Heart, minimize the game and go online. Go back in the game and choose local save. Wait about a minute. Then buy the Ruby Heart and proceed with the level. Shortly after. the achievement will pop and the nightmare will be over.

I managed to unlock all glitched achievements after 'shields only shop' today. Trying different methods and what is worst, some of them is discontinued due to game updates (kinda strange...).
First I did EVERY achievement that can be obtain even with shields in shop. Then I followed VisibleRaptor5's guide below 'Pyromaniac' achievement and some comments below + some tricks from other guides:
-fully reset game data
-go to offline
-play as not logged user until almost end of mission 25 or 30 (pickaxe, dynamite and maps upgrade is okay, but save lots money until now)
- quit game, make backup of two files "TreasureHuntProgress.bin.ark" and "SyncedData.bin.ark"
-still offline, run game, go to 26th (31st) mission, buy upgrade if appear (IGNORE HEARTS) and amulet
-die and repeat buying until you out of money
-quit game, copy your backup to original file (do not delete your backup!!!)
--run game, end 25th (30th) mission, first shop buy only amulet, die and after that your upgrades will be updated, so you can repeat dying and buying
Hearts save for last, because they cannot be progressed by this method. And if you need achievement for specific upgrade, when it appear in shop, turn on your Internet connection, wait till game ask about your save (choose always local) and it should pop after buying or picking some gold. Then turn off connection, close game and repeat everything until you collect 30 of 3 upgrades. After that you just need hearts which shouldn't be glitched.
Beware that with any game patch, every method could stop or start working.

You're gonna need
30 pickaxe
30 dynamite
30 maps
and 5 hearts.
The higher the level the more money is available but the more expensive the items get... eventually you'll fall into a loop of only shields and amulets for sale the best thing here is to either start a new game (hit menu and then new game in the opposite corner) or push on but I had 6 rounds of shops which is something like 30 levels before I was offered anything else.... personally I don't believe buying or not buying makes a difference.... It's just faster to start a new game and go from there. You can die to start back at the shop but it doesn't always work and as amulets get more expensive it is not the fastest way if you can just blast a straightish line through a level (don't forget the beginning levels are shorter... but beyond about level 15 it is all much the same unchanged to level 120 (beyond that I don't know but I don't imagine it changes much)

Becoming rather annoying. 30+ shops now and all i am getting is shields. Even dying later on to return to the shop is not working. Any suggestions?
By WrinklySpyX2 on 16 Oct 2019 18:20
Can I get clarification on something? If I am stuck in that loop you mentioned, and I start a new game, am I essentially completely starting over from scratch (losing all upgrades I've purchased)? Or are the upgrades I bought on my run still in place for the new run? I don't remember this being so grindy from the Win 8 version, but it's been a while.
By Paw McCatney on 17 Oct 2019 21:18
tl;dr: I finally avoided the shield loop by resetting app data and exclusively playing offline.
__________________________________________________________________________________
This achievement requires getting the following upgrades:
Hearts from 3 to 5
Pickaxe Belt from 2 to 30
Dynamite Bag from 2 to 30
Map Tube from 2 to 30
These upgrades are permanent and carry over when you die and fail a run.
I don't recall what the 4 Heart upgrade costs (I think it was 64,000) but the 5 Heart upgrade costs 128,000.
The Pickaxe Belt, Dynamite Bag, and Map Tube increase in capacity to 4, 6, 8, 10, then increments of 5 up to 30 which requires 8 upgrades each. These upgrades cost 1000 initially and double in price each time up to 128,000 for the final upgrade.
Upgrades are offered at the Mummy Shop which appears after level 1, then after levels that end in 0 and 5. The Shop will always offer Pickaxes, Dynamite, and Maps in addition to the revive Amulet and a random item that can be any of the upgrades you currently need OR a pack of shields.
I ran into a problem where the game would get stuck in a loop only offering packs of shields no matter how many times I visited the shop (both through progress and through deaths and respawns from the Amulet). I believe this happened because I had copied and replaced save files in order to grind out the 5 mil gold achievement. After realizing I was stuck, I reset app data and started over but ran into the same issue again. I kept getting popups asking whether I wanted to use the cloud or local save files and I reasoned that there was an issue with the cloud save causing the game to get confused with my progress. So I reluctantly reset my app data again and started the grind all over, but this time I only played while my PC was disconnected from WiFi.
I pushed through the game and upgrades were almost always offered. There were only a handful of times where I was offered the shield bundle and it took me about 20 hours, but I was able to grind out all the upgrades without issue. When I was offered the final upgrade I needed (the 30 Dynamite Bag- I had had had 5 Hearts for a while), I connected to WiFi and waited a minute before making the purchase. And when I did, the achievement popped without issue.

Can confirm that playing offline helps with *a lot* of the issues this game has. I just start it up while online, and once I'm fully signed in and the achievement list has loaded on the screen, I turn on airplane mode and start playing.
When offline, the game has far fewer issues of freezing, lag, crashes, and of course no 30-second ads before every bonus room, and less shield loops.
I also enabled MouseKeys which allows you to play much faster. Just turn them on, press numpad * (asterisk) to click both mouse buttons at the same time, and hit numpad 5 to 'click'. This will make your explorer walk over to the clicked spot, and do a chord (clear all tiles around him). Added bonus is that the explorer won't open covered tiles, and won't accidentally set off traps. With this combination of using mouse, right-click, and numpad 5 chords, you can move through a level a lot faster.

I've not run into any shield loops yet and haven't messed with save files but this game is so frustrating that I think I'll follow your advice and start playing offline and only connect to the internet momentarily when unlocking achievement upgrades. I'm also leaving the 5 heart upgrade until last as a lot of comments have mentioned that upgrade caused the loop. One question though, did you launch the game online then go offline when Xbox signed in or did you remain offline before even launching the game?

Welcome
Both "I’m Rich!" and "Totally Decked Out" are what making this game really long but there is trick to make this easier and less stressful and fast by using the save backup trick.
Back up your save:
To back up your save you need to go this path:
C:\Users\"yourusername"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftTreasureHunt....
Then copy these two files to any place you like:
SyncedData.bin.ark
TreasureHuntProgress.bin.ark
Once you need to load up you back up save make sure to fully close the game (You can check if the game closed on task manager) then copy your files to the same location on game folder.
Tips:
1. Once you reach higher levels its impossible to progress without items so make sure to buy everything especially the maps because when you get stuck and that will probably happens from the start on Level 41 and beyond you backup your save and use all the maps to go as much deep as possible then take a picture with your phone for the board and reload your backup save this is very very useful to progress easily.
2.To get 5M gold you need to collect as much gems as possible but save your dynamites for the level before the shop level because there always be chest treasures on those levels they have the highest amount of gold more than 9500.
Gold Trick:
Here is a an awesome trick found by VisibleRaptor5 to make the gold grind super fast the only thing i recommend is to collect more than 100k to make this goes faster.
Note: This trick wont gave you an actual gold it will just rise the amount of total gold gathered in statistic page, After getting 5M you need to collect an actual gold to trigger the achievement to pop.
Upgrades trick:
So once you reach 5M backup your save again start the game and die use the amulet to respawn and you will be at the shop again to check there is a new items or not this is so tricky because the upgrades may take long time before they show up but anyway you have a backup save if they didn't show so you are safe just keep reloading your save until an upgrade show up buy it and back up your save again rinse and repeat until you hate the game
Progress Transfer:
If you complete the Win 8 version and you want to transfer your progress to Win 10 Version you need to install the Win 8 version game on a Win 10 PC using APPX file installer then you must go store app and update the game game to Win 10 version and your progress should transfer there.
Note:
Make sure you haven't started the Win 10 before or played it because this doesn't support cloud save transfer so this may not work for you if you started it already.
Update:
If you transfer your progress to the Win 10 version you can unlock all the achievements by doing certain actions except these four:
To unlock those you need to do a reset for the app and disconnect your PC from internet before lunching the game again, Start playing on Level 1 and exit the game and close the app then reconnect your PC and lunch the game again and choose local save this will allow to start a fresh save so you can get those achievements.
Update 2:
It seems Win 10 version is glitchy if you start using the backup trick and it will stop offering upgrades if that happens disconnect your PC and play offline until you buy for example the 8 bag dynamite after that start nest level close the game reconnect your PC and choose local save after that just die and the achievement for 8 dynamite upgrade will pop if that didn't make it pop disconnect your PC and lunch the game and die use the amulet and go to shop stay on shop and reconnect your PC this also should trigger it to pop, You can use these method for all other upgrades, Its a broken game on Win 10 you just need to keep trying with it good luck
The Death Cannot Stop Me! achievement in Microsoft Treasure Hunt (Windows) worth 105 pointsPurchase 3 Amulets in one game
The Pyromaniac achievement in Microsoft Treasure Hunt (Windows) worth 197 pointsPurchase the 8 Dynamite Bag
The Master Miner achievement in Microsoft Treasure Hunt (Windows) worth 229 pointsPurchase the 10 Pickaxe Belt
The No Sense of Direction achievement in Microsoft Treasure Hunt (Windows) worth 249 pointsPurchase the 15 Map Tube
To unlock those you need to do a reset for the app and disconnect your PC from internet before lunching the game again, Start playing on Level 1 and exit the game and close the app then reconnect your PC and lunch the game again and choose local save this will allow to start a fresh save so you can get those achievements.
