How to unlock the Rise and Fall achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Game of the Year Edition - Definitive Guide

This is best done once you have acquired the ability to brand uruks (second area of the game). It is then quite easy.

Let a random Uruk kill you, he will then be promoted to captain. After this make him your target and then brand him so you control him. Then command him to become a bodyguard and ensure he completes the test. Then dominate him again and order him to betray his war chief. Ensure he passes this test by killing the war chief. Immediately after your Uruk is promoted to war chief press down on the d-pad to kill him and the achievement should pop.

UPDATES:
1. A couple of people (see comments) have said that dispatching the uruk (pressing down on the d-pad) didn't pop the cheevo for them. It worked for me so there may be some quirks where it does/doesn't work.
2. It seems you cannot have him kill/betray a branded warchief (or captain for that matter). Thanks to Warboy925 and mantledFeanorNL for pointing this out.

Regarding the fact that you can't have them betray or kill a branded warchief: you can still summon your branded warchief and the bodyguard and then manually kill the chief. Then kill the promoted bodyguard. Worked for me

Thanks for the guide. Dpad didn't work for me. For any reason, no achievement that way. So, instaed, on the second try, I grabbed him and stabbed him. And achievement popped.

Plus one from me!!!

Just a note: I thought I was gonna save time by having my branded bodyguard betray his branded warchief......don't work like that....he won't betrayed his branded warchief, so I assigned him to another one, killed the war chief then killed the bodyguard after he got promoted.....I did it by shanking him then used 2 finishing moves because I hear that the dispatch method doesn't work on a couple of the achievements......and cheevo popped!!!

Just a note to everyone, you will not be able to actually do this until completing enough missions for the queen in the second part of the game. Merely being able to brand captains isn't enough, and it will be fairly obvious once you've gotten far enough that this ability will be available to you.

As already mentioned by warboy925, Just a little heads up:
It seems you cannot have him kill/betray a branded warchief (or captain for that matter). I had branded all 5 warchiefs for another achievement. So after having my random Uruk, that killed me, promoted to bodyguard, I ended up killing another (branded..) bodyguard and the warchief in question himself, both by shanking. Then the promoted Uruk replaced the killed warchief without a betayal, so that it possible, and I got the achievement after finally killing this warchief as well.

The opening post needs to mention that dispatching doesn’t always work. Just wasted an hour of my time, should have read the comments first I guess.

Yeah you need to mention in your first post it doesn't always work. I followed exactly what you said and the achievement didn't pop

It's worth noting that you don't have to brand the Uruk or "help him become a warchief" in any way beyond clearing a path for him.

At some point I was killed by some random Uruk early in the game, and when I came back to the first area later on I noticed he had been promoted to Warchief. I killed him and the achievement popped.

This isn't obviously the fast way to do this and probably requires a bit of luck, but it does work.

Does not work! I realised after two failed attempts that i never got killed. So i tried that. Did not work with killing the new warchief by pressing down on the D pad.

Better moving on to a youtube vid for help and after 10 seconds I can already see something that the guide did not mention. Have to have an open slot at the bottom and get killed by any random uruk. Not someone who is a captain already. I hope the video will help.

What the guide fails to mention is the beck and call mission that follows after your guy will be mentioned as warchief. Go and find that mission and then you can kill him during that one.
