How to unlock the A Graug's Heel achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Definitive Guide

You have to Gain Intel on all five of the Warchiefs first to find out their weaknesses. If any of them has a Fear, aim for them. If none of them do, find a Captain who has one and raise him to be a Warchief. Generally, the easiest fears to dole out are Fear of Burns and Fear of Caragors.

Now attack that chief. If he has a Fear of burns, use the Fire Arrows ability (last tier ability unlock) on him. If not, lure him near a campfire, explosive barrel, or grog bowl and Detonate It. A little scene will play that he's scared of Burns and he'll start running away. All you have to do now is kill him.

If he has a Fear of Caragors, lure him near a Caragor bait, release some caged caragors in the area, or bring a caragor to him if you can. He'll start running so chase after him and kill him.

Other Fears I have seen:
Betrayal
Graugs
Morgai Flies
Ghuls
Rival (Specifies a captain/Warchief he's afraid of)
Gravewalker (Talion)

Mine seem to lose all their fears as soon as they get promoted to Warchief. Does this happen every time or do you sort to have to get lucky with it?

Fears have a chance to not be fears once promoted to war chief. War Chief must be killed after triggering the fear.

This achievement seems glitchy. I did a warchief with the fear of burning and once i set him on fire he got scared and ran away. Shortly after i killed him and no achievement, so i did this again and still no achievement =(. Third times the charm?

This is really annoying, I have a warchief with "Fear = Graugs"

Go to the mission start (I've already done the event to draw him out and died). Won't let me start whilst mounted on a Graug. Dismount and the Graug disappears. Go to find another and I'm leaving the mission area....

Go Rampaging around his strong hold and the War chief never appears....

Any tips?

Another report of this being "buggy" here. I found a Warchief with a fear of Caragos. I lured him out and used some bait to get a few in the area. Mounted one and ran up to the Warchief, at which point he get scared and runs off. I chase him down and kill him with my new buddy and the achievement did not unlock :(.

Yep, definitely buggy. Had 2-3 warchiefs with fear of Caragos and Fire, no achievement popped up.

Kulaguy you have hit the spot. Test of Power has one Warchief who has FIVE fears. Go crazy.

I suggest adding it to the description, or I can post it as a separate solution for those who have the DLC.

Yea, I'm with some of the others that this achievement seems buggy. Have tried a few times to get it to pop and no luck so far...latest today had captain with a fear of Ghuls. Had him near a Ghuls nest and baited them, he showed the fear animation and started running. I killed him shortly after that while still being pursued by Ghuls and no achievement. Yes, his icon was still green.

After I finished the game I had all 5 warchiefs branded but none had fears. So I dispatched all 5 of them and their also fearless bodyguards so that all 5 slots were open. Then I advanced time so that Uruks would get naturally promoted and one had 3 fears (fire, graug, caragor)!

So I did his mission which was in a stronghold, mounted a caragor from a cage and after he fled I chased him down and ate him with Y. Achievement unlocked first time.

That's interesting. I got this in the Story Mode since there was already a Warchief with a fear I could exploit, but otherwise I've been farming runes in the Trials that come with the season pass and as far I could see, none of those orcs were losing weaknesses while leveling up. They were just gaining strengths.

Do you have the Test of Power trial map? I think it came with all first run copies of the game. Try playing that and scaring a Warchief there. The set of orcs is always the same when you play so it isn't too difficult to find one to kill.

Follow these steps

1) Go to you Sauron Army and find the boss that you know some weaknesses
2) If He afraid of fire per exemple, try shoot in the fire camp or barrils when he is near

You can see my video that I show, in this video the boss have a weaknesses of fire. When you get this, the boss will be a green color.
Important, you need to kill the boss to get the achievement in the end ok?

Like any main Uruk enemy within the game, Warchiefs will always have specific weaknesses that you will want to exploit in the midst of combat. In order to learn of an enemy's weaknesses however, you will have to interrogate one of his bodyguards!

Once you are aware of the Warchief's weaknesses, now you will be able to exploit that weakness in battle for this achievement. Weaknesses vary from a bunch of different things, such as a fear of fire, Ghuls, Caragors, Graugs, or Morgai Flies. Other times, the weakness can be vulnerability to ranged attacks, combat finishers, stealth finishers, mounted attacks, and other combat tactics. Remember, you want to look out for a fear weakness, rather than a vulnerability weakness!

Once you have successfully capitalized on a Warchief's "fear" weakness in combat, finish him off with the final blow and the achievement will be yours upon his death.

You will be unable to fight a Warchief until you’ve completed the story main mission “Climbing the Ranks”

To discover a Warchief’s Fear you must gain Intel on it by interrogating a Worm or Captain. You can then view their fear by selecting them in the Sauron’s Army menu and pressing . Their fear will be listed in blue at the top, such as a Fear of Burning, Fear of Betrayal, Fear of Caragors, Fear of Pain, etc. You can also see their fear by going into Wraith form and inspecting them with when they are within range and they've been researched.

After you’ve discovered their weakness you must inflict it upon them during a battle. You will know you have succeeded when a mini-cutscene begins and a blue skull appears that says “Fear of ...”, followed by them running and their white skull icon turning green. Simply kill the now feared Warchief and the trophy will unlock.

For this trophy you need to scare a Warchief and then kill him. Here is what I would do in number order.

1. Choose a Warchief and gain intel on him until you learn what his fear is. Examples from what I have seen is Fire and Caragors.

2. Locate the Warchief and use his fear to scare him

3. After you scare him (you know that happens when a scene with the Warchief starts to run away and it will say Fear of ......). Catch him and finish him off and the trophy is yours.

I have attached a video it is not mine but Mr. Reign as a visual reference to what you need to do.

One of them... where I had to lure them out from a vantage point at the top of a tower had a fear of the flies that you can release by shooting nests... found this purely by accident.

We simply look through the list of leaders and look for a type of fear defined by co-fears: flies, fire, betrayal, ghouls or caragors. And we use what he is afraid of and when he starts to run away in panic, we need to kill him. I personally found someone who is afraid of caragors and set the dog on him and that’s it.

Please note that it is the leader who needs to be killed, not the captain. I killed captains 5 times and wondered why they still haven’t given me the achievement.

Read the enemy’s fears, I personally released Karagor and the Captain ran away, and Fire is also a more common occurrence

The main thing is to let him escape completely.

Don't let him run away)))
the main thing is to scare him so that he wants to run away, and then finish him off)
(I completed it on map 2, my leader was afraid of betrayal, and I just had his bodyguard branded)
Good luck with the trophy)
