How to unlock the Divide and Conquer achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Definitive Guide

Once you have progressed far enough in the story, you will be able to fight warchiefs. Warchiefs are essentially stronger captains. They make up the fourth row in the "Sauron's Army" page. If you highlight the warchiefs, there will be a blue line showing which captains are their bodyguards. This means that if you go to fight this warchief, this (or these) captain(s) will be with him.
To earn this achievement, there are 2 options.
Option 1 - Take out his bodyguard(s) before you go to fight him, by getting intel on them and killing them.
or
Option 2 - I'm assuming I did it this way, since I just went straight after every warchief. You COULD just go straight after the warchief, and kill him and his bodyguards at the same time (killing bodyguards first obviously). This will obviously be a lot harder, and unless you're skilled at the combat at this game I wouldn't recommend it. Not to say it isn't doable, but depending on what combination of abilities they have it could be annoying.
(Example, I went after one and got killed when he had one bodyguard. I managed to beat him though when he had 2.)
I can't really confirm this option since I've already earned the achievement, so if anyone else could confirm it I'd appreciate it.

Another thing to add - I pretty much went around murdering every captain in the beginning of the game, so by the time warchiefs showed up, only like one had a guard. This leads me to believe that while you can't highlight the warchiefs in the beginning or see their links to the captains, the links are already there.

Thanks but I've tried those multiple times with no luck. I don't know what else to try. I'll try playing on a new gamertag and see if I can get it to unlock. If it does then I guess I go beg Microsoft to help.

I did finally manage to get this to unlock after deleting all my game save data and replaying the game from scratch whilst offline. Sorry for hijacking the comments.

I can confirm that you can complete this by first dominating a Warchief and this two bodyguard. Then start the Warchief mission when it displays to call out the dominated Warchief, once they appear just kill them while they friendly in any way you prefer.

So as it turned out I had the same glitched achievement as @Jehugasm. I deleted my local save file, and since I didn't wanted to lose all my progress I played the game offline. After I got my achievement I deleted the local save again, and went online and let it syncronize with the current save.

Still unable to unlock this achievement after trying it so many times in different kill configurations. Tried re-installing, starting a new playthrough and all the tips for drawing stuck achievements through. Achievement still says 'Locked' on my console. It's the final one I need. Any ideas?

I don't know what could be going on so I guess I'll just break it down.
1. Interrogate a Captain to get info on a Warchief.
2. If said Warchief has bodyguards (denoted by lines between him and them), go kill them.
3. Go kill Warchief.
4. Repeat.

or

2. If said Warchief has Bodyguards, go fight the Warchief.
3. Kill Bodyguards during the fight, then kill Warchief.
4. Repeat.

The Lord and Master achievement and also Power Vacuum achievement goes well with this achievement. I posted a video guide to get all 3 of these achievements under the Lord and Master achievement if you want to check it out, if not ill explain how I did it.

You want to start by branding all of the body guards of each Warchief. If a Warchief does not have a body guard its ok. After branding each one of the body guards, go fight each of the Warchiefs, if they DO have body guard, kill them. One of the branded body guards will become the new Warchief. If the Warchief does not have a body guard you need to make sure you brand him by weakening him then doing a combat brand.

Next if you need/want the "Divide and Conquer" achievement then simply go to the missions on the map which say " 'Insert Warchief name here' awaits your command". Find two Chiefs with at least 2 body guards then take out his two body guards ,which should be branded, simply by dominating them, then getting intel, then killing them. Or you can simply shank them to death. Then take out the Chief. Do this twice and you should get the Divide and Conquer achievement.

Finally keep killing the Chiefs in this manner and you should get the "Power Vacuum" achievement.

This achievement is fairly straightforward and you will most likely unlock it without much effort. After the mission entitled "The Warchief," you will be tasked with hunting down and killing at least three other Warchiefs in Mordor. During this time, open the "Sauron's Army" screen and find two Warchiefs that have at least two bodyguards. Chances are that when you are completing a Power Struggle Mission to lure a Warchief out, you will be killing his bodyguards in the process of said mission.

Overall, this means that simply completing these Power Struggle Missions during this time in the storyline is a guaranteed way in obtaining this achievement. Once you have successfully lured out and killed two different Warchiefs, this achievement will finally unlock.

You will be unable to fight a Warchief until you’ve completed the story main mission “Climbing the Ranks”

Bodyguards are Captains that will come to the aid of Warchief once you’ve drawn him out. You can tell which Captains are bodyguards of a specific Warchief by gaining intel on a Warchief. The blue lines that are attached to the Warchief lead to his bodyguards. Mark each bodyguard as your target and dispatch them until none are left, then begin the Warchief mission and kill him as well. Do this process for two separate Warchiefs and the trophy will unlock.

To unlock this very early on, once the Warchief missions first become available after “Climbin the Ranks”, look for Warchiefs where the mission description says “Hint: Defeat the Warchief’s bodyguards before confronting him.” If you see no attached bodyguards to that Warchief, it means they have all been killed, and killing the Warchief will count towards this trophy.

I unlocked it without having killed any bodyguards, so it seems that killing two warchiefs without bodyguards in a row unlocks it.

To earn the trophy that's called "Divide And Conquer", you must first kill the bodyguards of two different Warchiefs, then draw out those Warchiefs and kill them as well.

Load up Sauron's Map and look at all five Warchiefs. One of those Warchiefs should have a blue line going straight towards a Captain. That blue line means that the Captain is a bodyguard to that Warchief. To make this trophy easier, try going after a Warchief that has at least one or two bodyguards with him. Do the same with the other Warchief and take note of their mental locations.

From there, hunt down those specific bodyguards for those two Warchiefs and kill them. Once that's accomplished, head on over to the location where the Warchief can be found. Then do the mission to draw him out before eliminating him, then do the same thing for the other Warchief as well.

Another alternative way of doing this is finding a Warchief with his bodyguards, then draw out the Warchief so that you can destroy his bodyguards first before killing the Warchief before moving on to the next Warchief with his bodyguards. That's what I did to get the trophy faster, so I've written for you, the player, at least two ways to get this trophy.

If you need a video attachment to help you understand further on how to get this trophy unlocked, I can aid you in this regard as well. All credit goes to Game Boys of Colour for the video. Happy hunting, have fun, and good luck!

The description of the trophy is a little unclear. To get it, you need to kill all the leader’s bodyguards and lure him out so that he comes alone, and then kill him. After this, do the same with the other leader. It is necessary to choose leaders with bodyguards, because... On lone leaders the trigger did not work and the trophy was not given.

Wrong spelling
It is necessary to take out the leader and first kill his two bodyguards, and only then him
