How to unlock the Rise and Fall achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Definitive Guide

An easy way to do this is to just let any orc kill you. Once he is promoted to Captain, Brand him (you get this ability towards the end of the story), and Command him to Initiate as a bodyguard to any of the Warchiefs, preferably one you can kill easily. Complete the mission and allow him to be that Warchief's bodyguard. Next, Command him to betray his Warchief. During this mission, kill the Warchief, and your branded Captain will become the new Warchief. If he left the field by now, all you have to do is summon your Branded Warchief and kill him. You can easily do this with the Dispatch ability (press down on the d-pad), or just kill him the old fashioned way since Branded orcs do not attack you even if you attack them.

Dont hate a game because its hard and you cant do something, for me I just cant figure out how to have the bodyguard captain betray a warchief, It does not give me the option , does he need to be in the row under the WChiefs?

To answer Andy's question a year later, you're missing the fact that the revenge icon has nothing to do with it. This is not a captain who goes from the bottom row to warchief and then dies. This has to be a non-captain who kills you, gets promoted, and then becomes warchief.

I have done this 6 times and it's not working , they go from the bottom row to warchief and has the revenge icon on it and killing him does nothing. Shanking , pushing down on d-pad and using combat finishers. What am I not understanding? I hate this game so much.

The easiest way to get this achievement I've found is to already have a Warchief branded ahead of time. You should have a few as part of the story which makes it easy.

It should be noted it is also easier to go for this achievement after the achievement "Lord and Master" (brand all 5 Warchiefs).

Start by branding a Captain who had killed you before in battle (this is indicated by a red revenge marker that appears above his head in the "Sauron's Army" tab in the pause screen).

Then go to the branded Captain and command him to take the position of "Bodyguard" for a branded Warchief you control.

After completing the "power struggle" mission required for the bodyguard initiation go to the branded Warchief from before and kill him (this is easy as he is under your control).

After doing this, the branded bodyguard Captain (the one that has killed you before) will automatically be promoted to the dead branded Warchief's position.

Once the branded Captain is Warchief, go to him and kill him (again, this is easy because you control him already). The achievement should unlock upon killing him.

The best solution of all. I was wondering if I could use a branded Warchief in this achievement. Thanks.

This achievement is actually pretty easy to get.
Just get killed by a regular uruk (not a captain), find him and brand him. Then send him on an Initiation mission to become a bodyguard of one of the warchiefs.

Then you have two options:
1) If the warchief you've chosen is not branded, make your uruk betray him in order to become a warchief himself.
2) If the warchief you've chosen is branded, just summon him and then kill him. Your uruk will be promoted to warchief.

When your uruk got promoted to warchief, simply kill him.

To get the trophy that's called "Rise And Fall", you will first need to have a random Uruk kill you to be promoted to Captain, then aid him in becoming a Warchief before ultimately destroying him.

This trophy doesn't sound easy, but it actually is, just takes a lot of work to get there, so this is what I did, in order. Also, I should remind you that you need to complete the 17th story mission, "The Power Of The Wraith", so that the Command ability is unlocked for good.

First off, make sure there's an empty spot for a Captain position on the very bottom line of the Sauron's Army screen. If none is available, kill any Captain on that line first.

Next, you will need to find a random, unimportant Uruk and let him kill you. Once that's done, he will officially be promoted to Captain and you can start working on "helping" him get to the top of the food chain as a Warchief.

After that point, you will need to locate your newly-appointed Captain on the map, then hunt him down and brand him. When you have him under your thrall, have him infiltrate the Warchief so that he can become his bodyguard.

The game then asks you to complete a Recruitment mission. Make sure the mission is successful and the Captain should now be that Warchief's bodyguard.

Hunt down the Warchief, draw him out, then command your Captain to betray the Warchief, then assist the Captain in killing the Warchief.

By this point, your Captain should take over that Warchief's spot on the Sauron's Army screen. If you look on the map, you should see a "Beck And Call" mission on the map. Target it, then go to that location and start up the mission. The Captain that once killed you is now a Warchief and awaits your command. Get close to him and then press cn_down to use the Dispatch technique and destroy him for the trophy.

I hope this helps! If my guide doesn't help, here's another way of getting it as well. All credit goes to Squatch Gaming Official for the video upload and showing you their way of how they got it two. So, essentially, I'm showing you two ways to get it - my guide and the video below. Again, I hope it helps you a lot! Happy hunting, have fun, and good luck!

Before attempting it however, make sure you have obtained the "Brand" and "Command" abilities! Once you are able to pull off these tactics, allow any random Uruk to kill you in combat. Upon your death, this Uruk will be promoted to Captain. Now it's your job to track down this Captain, weaken him in combat, and then finally brand him.

While branding the Captain, command him to "Infiltrate" any of the Warchiefs, as this will cause a Power Struggle Mission for your newly branded Uruk ally. Head over to his new mission and help him come out on top so that he becomes that Warchief's bodyguard. If the Warchief has any additional bodyguards, you will need to kill them before moving on. This ensures that when the Warchief dies, your branded Captain will be the only bodyguard available to take his place.

Finally, track down and kill the Warchief in question so that your branded Uruk Captain takes his position in the hierarchy. If you have the "Dispatch" ability, activate it and your newly branded Warchief will die, thus unlocking the achievement. If you do not have this ability, just meet up with your Warchief and kill him as he will not attack you. Either way works for this achievement!

You must complete the 17th story mission “The Power of the Wraith” to unlock the Command ability needed for this trophy.

Once you’ve obtained the Command ability there are a few steps you will have to take to unlock this. This trophy requires the most setup to complete besides the Stinking Rebels, but it’s fairly easy once you know the steps. Just be sure that your Warchief candidate doesn’t die at any point, otherwise you will have to start over.

Here are the steps I took to unlock this trophy, in the order they need to be performed:
  1. Make sure there is at least one open Captain position in your area. If there isn’t, find and kill a Captain first.
  2. Die to a random non-Captain enemy so that they will be promoted to Captain.
  3. Locate your newly appointed Captain and Dominate him.
  4. Command the Captain to infiltrate a Warchief and become his bodyguard, then help them succeed with the with their Recruitment Initiation.
  5. Locate the Captain that is now the bodyguard of the Warchief and Command him to Betray the Warchief.
  6. Go to the Warchief and assist your dominated Captain in killing the Warchief.
  7. Quickly flee and go to the “Beck and Call” mission to summon the Warchief, then press to instantly kill him and any of the Bodyguards with him. The trophy will unlock as soon as the Warchief dies in front of you.

To do this, we let ourselves be killed by an ordinary Uruk, no matter what. Then we find him, brand him, give him the task of ingratiating himself and becoming one of the leader’s bodyguards, we help him complete a certain task in order to become a bodyguard, and then we grab him and give him the order to betray the leader to whom he is in bodyguards, we help him overthrow the leader, and when he takes his place, we simply find and kill him, it’s easier to make the “Massacre” ability since he is already branded.

And I did it without branding. an Uruk killed me, he began to trust my branded leader, then I killed my leader - he took his place and after I killed the leader he immediately killed that Uruk

Do exactly as described above, if you die from an Uruk, make him a leader from scratch, and then kill him, the trophy will not fall out. You need to become a bodyguard, overthrow the leader, and then kill the Urku himself

I had it like this:

He succumbed to the berserker (because they are cooler), gave him the order to infiltrate the branded leader (there were no others, all 5 were branded), he became a bodyguard, found out that he could not attack his own master leader due to the fact that both were branded.
I started killing leaders for a free place, so that the left, unmarked orc would become the leader, scroll through time on the map, and this berserker who killed me suddenly took such a free place as a leader, leaving his master, without orders or anything else.
Summoned him and killed him with Immediately, to my surprise, a trophy fell out. This Nemesis system is so flexible that you only need to fulfill only vaguely similar requirements for a trophy, it's cool

we die at the hands of an ordinary Uruk (any of the weakest Orc mobs), he becomes a captain, we brand him, make him the leader’s bodyguard, then we set him against the same leader and help in this, after our Uruk has become a leader, you can immediately kill him by pressing down arrows if the corresponding skill has been upgraded, or manually.

branded the enemy, made him a leader, killed him, but they didn’t give him the trophy. Then I upgraded my skill in killing branded people, killed the enemy with it, and the trophy dropped
