How to unlock the Shadows of the Ancient Past achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Definitive Guide

I just want to add here, that it is not necessary to listen to the complete memory of the Artifact, just start them and it should count as "listened".

You need to rotate the objects to find a blue shining spot. You can press X and listen to the logs!

You just need to follow the map and collect all of the Artifacts.

NOTE: One thing that did happen to me though is when I collected all of them (and the game said 42/42) I had to go back into the Appendices, to Artifacts and click each one to see which one I forgot to scan and listen to. If you are having a problem with this achievement unlocking, try that and it should do the trick!

I too had 42/42 but it did not unlock. Even though there was no exclamation point at the top of artifacts, I had to rescan about three or four and listen to them again in order for the achievement to unlock. Thanks for the heads up I'm not sure I would've thought of this!

To be able to obtain all of the collectibles you need to have progressed to 11/20 story missions to unlock the second area. You can see how many missions you've done by pressing start>Upgrades>Progression.

To collect each Artifact, go up to the glowing orb and press cn_RB.

To find all 42 artifacts is a simple task, complete enough missions that you can earn

Middle-earth: Shadow of MordorMemories of EregionThe Memories of Eregion trophy in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor worth 19 pointsActivate all Forge Towers.

Once that's done, you'll have all the remaining artifacts on the map, there's 42 in total, collect them all.

There's one more step however, you must "listen to the memory" of every item. All you need to do this is to click on them (the ones with the exclimation point next to them should still need to be done. Ones with a check mark are already "listened to". Then rotate the object with the stick til you feel a little rumble, and see a blue spot. once you find the right spot the text will change to say press Square to listen to the memory.

After you hit Square, you can rotate the artifact all you want, but the dialogue will automatically let you hear the memory with out needing to find it again.

The best way to do it is to find the memories as you find each artifact, it automatically switches you to the artifact mode when you find one, so you might as well discover the memory as you find the artifact.

You do NOT need to listen to the memory in full, just going into the memory's screen and quickly backing out of it is enough, as long as you have a check mark next to every artifact (and every artifact allows you to go directly to the memory with square when you look at them) the trophy should pop automatically.

I collected all 42 and listened to each of the memories as i found each item, but the trophy didn't unlock. Doing as Kinglink said in the last paragraph i found that two of them, for some reason, had not registered. Finding the "sweet spot" and listening to the memory again finally unlocked the trophy.

This is the collectible achievement for gathering all 42 of the Artifacts laying on the ground throughout Mordor. You'll also need to find their Memory Points by moving the object around (press X by 'default' to activate the memory) and listening to the audio recording. You can collect it by going up to it in the Wraith World (press V by default), and then pressing your use key (Ctrl by default).

Luckily, the collectibles in this game are all highlighted on your map as soon as your activate the nearby Forge Towers. You'll know if you've activated the forge tower if the tower icon on the map is bright blue, you can fast travel to it, and the area around it on the map isn't shrouded in darkness.

Remember, there are two maps and you can't go to the second one until a little while into the story, so you can't get them all right from the beginning. You'll unlock the second map about a third of the way through the story, where you'll find the rest of the collectibles.

P.S. Some of the collectibles are in caves at the very edges of the map, so if you can't find one on the map, look around the borders to see if it's there.

In total, there are forty-two hidden artifacts that you must collect over the course of your playthough. In order to track down these collectibles, make sure you unlock a Forge Tower for a specific region, as doing so will uncover all the collectibles for that region.

Overall, these ancient artifacts can only be collected while in Wraith Mode and will appear to be bright white sources of light that are usually well hidden inside ruined structures, Uruk Strongholds, and other locations across Mordor. With that said, make sure to tap  to uncover the collectible and you MUST listen to its entire memory. This achievement will unlock once all forty-two artifacts have been collected.

You can easily locate every Artifact by reforging all of the Forge Towers, which will reveal the location of every Artifact in the game. When you want to find a specific Artifact, open the map and press on top of it to create a waypoint. The waypoint will lead you directly to it with minimal effort.

Artifacts are random objects that can be discovered while in Wraith form. Each one contains a memory point that you can find and replay from the original owner, which looks like a glowing blue circle. There are a total of 42 Artifacts spread throughout the game: 19 in Udun and 23 in Nurn. Once you have collected half of the Artifacts in Udun you will unlock the Paths of the Dead trophy.

Simply collecting all of the Artifacts in the game won’t be enough to unlock the trophy. You must find and replay the memory on each and every one of the 42 Artifacts. For the majority of them you can hold down or up on the and press Square once the blue square is clear and your controller starts to vibrate very hard. The closer you get to the memory the louder the spirits will be and the harder your controller will shake.

You don’t have to listen to the entirety of the memory, just playing and backing out will be enough. You can check which memories you have yet to discover by going in to the Appendice and selecting the Artifact tab. Go through each Artifact and whichever one you can’t immediately press and replay the memory of, you will need to find it.

As soon as all 42 Artifacts' memories are replayed, the trophy will unlock.

When you find an artifact, immediately look for the memory point, press and listen to what they say in the memory to the end. otherwise they won't give you the trophy.

It's not necessary to listen to the end The main thing is to find a point and press square. After collecting all the artifacts, the trophy did not drop. It turned out that points were not found in two artifacts)

I advise you to immediately listen to the memories (take the artifact, find the memory point, press )

If you don’t get the trophy after collecting all the artifacts, then go to the menu and view all the artifacts again, one or more may be without a memory point (even if you opened them all).

We collect all the artifacts and look for the blue circle on them. We wait until the voices read, then we look at the next artifact, and so on until the end,
