How to unlock the Stinking Rebels achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Definitive Guide

After you get the Brand ability from doing the main missions, there are two ways to go about this.

1. Brand some captains who aren't bodyguards to the Warchief you are aiming for and have them go through the initiation to become his bodyguard.
2. Find that Warchief's current body guards and brand them. Now have him Betray his master. Thanks to Mauriz1o for confirming Betraying also works!

Once you have five Captains branded and counted as that Warchief's bodyguards (You can check by selecting the Warchief in the Sauron's Army menu and see if the five bodyguards that connect to him are the ones you branded), start the mission to kill him. You'll have to complete some side objective to draw him out. Or if you're having his bodyguards betray him, he'll automatically be out in the field. When he shows up, I made sure to run up to him and have him recognize me and do his little intro. Last, just press Up on the D-pad and the five captains around him will begin to attack. The achievement should pop a few seconds after you press Up on the D-pad.

Betraying works too! Just have 5 branded bodyguards on 1 chief and then betray the chief with one of them. Its much easier than doing the mission to draw him out. I got the achievement after pressing up on the d-pad.

Do the bodyguards have to be on one warchief? Can I do bodyguards from other warchiefs?

If they are bodyguards to one Warchief and you brand them, you can have them initiate to another warchief.

Popped for me when warchief showed up with just 4 bodyguards, so it may work having 5 branded total.

FYI for those as confused as I was, you have to finish the mission "The Power of the Wraith" to get the COMMAND ability to appear. It's not just BRAND that you need!!

Works with 4 because you already did one during that main story mission.

Kudos to Akumoro. Been trying to get this and wondered why the command option never appeared after branding the captain. Could you please update the solution to include his info?

Can I do this if I have all them branded to a warchief that also belongs to me? I can't find the option to betray him!

I didn't have to trigger the introduction. The betrayal mission spawned me on a vantage point overlooking the warchief and his bodyguards, and the achievement popped for me as soon as I hit cn_up.

First you need to unlock the Brand ability from playing story missions. Once you have the ability find 5 captains, dominate them and command them to "initiate" the same Warchief. You will have to complete an initiation mission for each captain which will then promote them to bodyguard. When a single Warchief has 5 bodyguards find the Warchief's mission. Once you see him with his bodyguards strike the Warchief and the achievement will pop.
( For myself I chose a Warchief that I had already branded. You have to hit up on the D pad in order for the achievement to unlock if the Warchief is branded. The steps are the same)

You should add that you have to hit up on the D pad in order for the achievement to unlock if the Warchief is branded. I tried just hitting him once i summoned him but it didn't unlock until i hit up on the D pad.
+1 from me

I was going after a warchief that wasn't branded, and just striking him didn't unlock the achievement. Had to hit cn_up.

First things first, you wont get the brand ability until half way through the story. Once you do have it brand 5 captains and make them initiate to be under 1 warchief. Once done, go fight the warchief, when he appears press cn_up, his body guards will turn. I personally paired this with death threat to get both achievements.

This one isn't actually all that hard it just requires a little bit of work for it.

-Basically pick a warchief, the more body guards he has the better, because it will save you some work. Your goal is to make that warchief have 5 branded bodyguards.

-Choose any existing bodyguards he currently has and brand them.

-Then go and start branding other Uruk captains, completing their initiation missions, and repeating this until your chosen warchief has the needed 5 bodyguards.
When you complete the final initiation mission and you have attained your fifth bodyguard, grab him and command him to betray his warchief.
Note: you can make branded Uruks who are currently bodyguards to other warchiefs become bodyguards for your current chosen warchief instead.

-Find the betrayal mission that would have just popped up on the map and enter it.
When your branded bodyguard betrays the warchief, press cn_up on the D-pad to cause the remaining 4 bodyguards to betray the warchief as well, thus netting you your trophy.

PowerPyx has a good video guide that I used to earn this trophy.

Before attempting this achievement, you must first unlock the "Brand" and "Command" abilities in the missions "Queen of the Shore" and "The Power of the Wraith." These two abilities unlock naturally during the aforementioned story missions.

This achievement is best described when broken down into five distinct steps. First, hunt down five different Uruk Captains and command each one of them to "Infiltrate" the same exact Warchief. This creates a Power Struggle Mission (represented by a blue Power Struggle icon) to prove their worth. Next, complete all five of their Power Struggle Missions and make sure your branded Captain comes out alive and well.

After doing all five missions, open the "Sauron's Army" screen and target the Warchief you chose before; the five Captains from before will now be connected to him as bodyguards. Finally, you will want to track down and fight the Warchief. In combat, press  and your branded Captains will turn on their own Warchief. As soon as this happens, the achievement will immediately unlock.

Glitch Warning: Be sure that the captains you brand do not have an active death threat on them, otherwise it could potentially glitch Stinking Rebels, causing it not to unlock. (Credit to Aeirou for discovering this). During the 17th main story mission “The Power of the Wraith” you will unlock the power to command dominated and branded targets. See a A New Master for how to brand a Captain.

Bodyguards are merely captains that will protect a Warchief after he has been drawn out. To see which Captains are bodyguards for a Warchief, identify the Warchief and follow the blue lines to the individual captains. Each blue line signifies a bodyguard. You can also see the total number of bodyguards a Warchief has by zooming in on him and looking at the bodyguards total.

It is unlikely that a Warchief will have all 5 bodyguards by default—usually they have 2 or 3—so you will have to brand a Captain or two and help them infiltrate the Warchief’s group. Find the Warchief that currently has the most bodyguards out of the available Warchiefs and make him your intended target.

Warchief that already has 4 Bodyguards. Perfect target for the trophy.
Now identify a Captain and proceed to brand it. After branding him grab and hold him with , press and order him to join the Warchief you have chosen and begin an Initiation to be a bodyguard. The Captain will then begin a Recruitment Power Struggle that he must pass to join the Warchief. Find it on the map and assist him by killing three sets of Uruk Soldiers that oppose him, which can be identified by a yellow mark over their heads.

Using the bow to kill each set of 5 is the easiest method, but it doesn’t matter if you are seen so long as your branded Captain doesn’t get too low on health or die.

Warchief with 4 normal (white) bodyguards and 1 branded (blue) bodyguard
After the Warchief has a total of 5 branded Bodyguards, command one of them to betray the Warchief. This will allow you to bypass the draw out mission and go straight to the fight. Once he arrives with his bodyguards, press on the d-pad to turn the bodyguards on him and subsequently unlock the trophy.

This is how I got this trophy. Captured the leader. branded him. Then I branded 5 captains and made them bodyguards of my branded leader. Then, I met with the branded leader who came with his bodyguards (there are 6 of them in total) pressed and they all died. The trophy fell out.

I see no point in branding the leader for this. I just made 5 branded bodyguards of the leader, attacked him and they simply tore him to pieces. 1 of those branded became a leader, I stabbed him and received a lvl 25 rune)

I did this:
1) Branded the leader I liked and his three bodyguards;
2) He branded three bodyguards of the victim leader;
3) I ordered my leader to attack the doomed man - there was a massacre, 2 leaders and 6 captains, almost all of whom were my slaves.

I got it like this:
1) Branded the leader (he had only one bodyguard)
2) Branded his bodyguard + 4 captains
3) We send these captains to infiltrate the bodyguards
4) Call the leader (he will come + 5 bodyguards)
5) Press the button and get a prize)
It turns out that the leader + 5 bodyguards are alive
I recommend doing this when you need to brand 5 leaders in the story. After traveling by ship this will be a very good support.

Got the trophy without killing.
Branded the leader and 5 bodyguards, then called them together and pressed the button No one fought, the trophy just fell out and everyone is alive and well

they gave me a trophy with 4 branded bodyguards, I simply attacked the leader... (the 5th was caught not by a bodyguard, but by a simply branded captain in the battle area)

We collect 5 bodyguards from one leader. We do not order them to betray them! We go in search of the leader and call him. He comes with our branded friends. We order them to attack . The trophy is yours
