How to unlock the The White Rider achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Definitive Guide

My Route was on the second Map in the Game. You reach this Map after 11-12 of 20 Mainstorymissions. Caragor you'll find on the entire map in Cages or free in the Wilderness. At my Startpoint in the Video you find normally Caragors in Wilderness. Tame a Caragor from above with cn_RB
You can reset the Timer for the Achievement by dismounting from the Caragor. The Timer starts when you liberate your first Slave.

/e Notes by Groqik

- Slaves are the white points you can see on the dynamic map on the bottom left cornet. Generally there is one sometimes two or three red guards near
- You do not need to kil guards like in your video, you have just to slay it (them) one time or kill them with one arrow. It's enough. You know you have done well when it is written "xxx slaves freed".
- Move around in order to find these white spots

This is an annoying achievement as I cannot seem to find enough slaves to save.

Would this be missable if I have already completed most of the slave missions (white fists)?

More tips about this achievements you can specify in your solution:
- Slaves are the white points you can see on the dynamic map on the bottom left cornet. Generally there is one sometimes two or three red guards near
- You do not need to kil guards like in your video, you have just to slay it (them) one time or kill them with one arrow. It's enough. You know you have done well when it is written "xxx slaves freed". In your video you spent too much time strying to kill them with oarques...
- Move around in order to find these white spots

This won't pop for me, I've removed all epic runes just in case it's a glitch but still nothing, doesn't help that there doesn't appear to be a map showing where the slaves are located

This must be glitched, the achievement popped while I was playing Alien Isolation, haven't played this game for at least 48 hrs.

Anyone else have this happen?

I have to add to JGSLab - the achievement didn't pop for me when playing. I shut off my XBOne and came here and saw it was unlocked on TA.

It may be that i have already finished all the rescue missions but i am just not seeing that many slaves around anymore. Ive tried your path and others but there are very few slaves to liberate. Ive circled the map disregarding time and i have yet to even count 30 let alone freeing them in under 180 seconds.

It's worth noting that you can switch caragors if you have shadow mount and shadow mount from one to another. Did it without thinking in my attempt and thought I had screwed myself up but it worked fine.

PowerPyx's route is much easier than this one. And it's during the day so the enemies and slaves are easier to see. Also, you can pause your game while going for this. The timer only runs while th3 game is unpaused. Got it my first try following powerpyx's video and pausing between slaves to watch the next video step. Probably took 5+minutes IRL time.

So. I believe the timer still keeps on going but won't count kills on foot. I did what LifeE said but instead fast traveled back to the tower three times and on the fourth followed the path and got it. Just be quick.

I can confirm, that it doesn't have to be the same Caragor for all kills. I just made a few, travelled to a forge tower and started again. After doing 4 runs with different Caragors, I got the achievement.

I would just like to comment that I did a different route I found on youtube and before I could get all 30, the orcs killed my caragor. I fast traveled back to the start, got another caragor and redid the route, but after only saving about 5 more slaves, I got the achievement. I don't know if it's a glitch or not, but maybe the timer doesn't reset when they kill your caragor.

Here's an alternative method to get this achievement.

1:- You need to have both Brand & Dispatch abilities.

2:- Go to your favoured map and start looking (on foot) for groups of slaves (bigger the better).

3:- Brand the enemies in charge of the slaves, the slaves will usually just carry on with what they are doing but on the odd occasion they do get liberated.

Repeat this step until you have 3-5 unliberated groups.

4:- Look for a Carigon and mount it, then look for a group of slaves you have yet to interact with and hit cn_down which will dispatch the branded enemies liberating all the slaves groups you found earlier giving you a massive head start for the 30 you need.

Kill the group you found on the Carigon and you should be at the very least be 2/3 of the way there making it a simple process to find the few groups more to get the required 30 slaves.

Amazing! It worked really well.
Side Note: You need to be within a good enough range to dispatch the branded Uruks. So you will need to use dispatch several times through your run.

For the above two posters may I suggest that you don't liberate so many as I suspect that's the problem. Use my method to liberate less than 30 and get the final ones in the regular way.

Can you not just shoot the Orcs from the Caragor with your bow to dispatch them quicker?

You avoid damage to the Caragor and don't waste time on the bite animation.

Going to try that tonight to see if that works. I'll edit this comment with my findings.

For the slaves, if I have done all of the Outcast/Slave missions (the white fist emblems) can I still obtain this achievement or do I need to start a 2nd playthrough?

By ClaytThaGreat on 26 Oct 2014 21:15
You don't need a 2nd playthrough. The slaves you free are the small groups of 2-4 that you come across just wandering through the wilderness. There's no connection between those and the outcast missions.

Cruentus, your idea worked best for me. Riding around the second map as fast as possible and shooting slave driver orcs with arrows.

I've spent the past 45 min attempting your method, but as soon as I brand the Orcs, the slaves always end up liberated. As for your idea, Cruentus1577, I your idea worked perfectly for me and I popped the achievement in about a minute and a half.

Step 1: Progress through the story to the 2nd area, and find a Caragon in a base near the North.
Step 2: Release & Mount a caragon
Step 3: Run around the following area, looking for slaves marked by white icons on your mini-map
External image

Step 4: Kill nearby enemies to liberate slaves.
Step 5: Keep liberating slaves until the achievement unlocks.

It's caragor, not caragon.

The Best solution I've found is this video. I don't take credit for it, but it worked on the first try for me.

NOTE: You don't need to bite all of the Uruks. Shooting them with arrows is quicker, and just as effective.

You will want the Shadow Mount ability unlock to make getting on a Caragor much easier. Go to the Southwest Forge Tower in the second zone called Sea of Nurnen. From the tower you will sea a Caragor in the distance, mount it, and then start looking for slaves. You just need to hit the orcs overlooking them. they do not need to be killed. The liberation bonus on the left of the screen will tell you the slaves have been freed. Stay away from the strongholds as there are tons of orcs and not many slaves.

I found it easier starting in the southwest tower (second map), going north and running around the river going east, also, is faster if you kill the orcs with your bow. And if you run out of arrows just drain your mount.

Video guide of SHadow of Mordor to get the achievement or trophy The White Rider. For this we must ride a Caragor and unlock the 2nd map of the game (aprox. from the middle of the main story). Go to the location that is marked in the map of the video and make sure it's daylight (this is 'cause they change the location of the slaves at the night.) Follow the rute of the video and you'll get the achievement/trophy.

The solutions are ok but didn't help the way I play this game.

So my solution is : ride around the edge of the map and simply look for the white triangles on the map (these are the men) and kill one of the orcs, go around the whole map then go toward the middle, achievment popped up straight away, saves you watching videos and looking at the map constantly (which i already wasted hours doing)
this way is much easier!! :-)

Keep going round and it will give it you!!

I have tried many solutions but this one was very reliable and got it on my first try. Follow the path exactly how its done on the video and it should pop. If not follow the dirt roads and you will find more slave to free. Credit to PowerPyx

Once of the best locations for this achievement is on the left side of the second region – Sea of Nurnen – where the second half of the story takes place. Also, make sure to unlock the Shadow Mount ability in the Wraith’s skill tree before attempting this achievement, as shadow mounting will be incredibly useful when trying to dominate a caragor.

Now fast travel to the Forge Tower in the southwest corner of the aforementioned region. Advance the time so that it is daytime; slave locations will differ between daytime and nighttime and freeing slaves for this achievement is easier during the day.

Slaves are usually accompanied by two or three Uruk guards as they walk across the lands of Mordor. You will need to kill these Uruks in order to successfully liberate the slaves from their captivity. Make sure to follow the video below so that you can free thirty slaves in the allotted time for this achievement to unlock.

In order to liberate slaves you must kill the Uruk holding them captive. They will always be within close proximity of the slaves and will always be just one or two enemies. Killing the slave drivers will release the slaves and count towards the 30.

The best way to go about unlocking this is by riding a Caragor during the day and patrolling well known slave areas, such as the pit surrounding the Udun Foothills Forge Tower leading west towards Durthang Outskirts Forge Tower and then heading north towards the Burrows of Udun. You can tell who the slaves are by small white triangles on the mini map, next to red ones.

Another great path can be seen here:

This achievement isn't terribly difficult if you're fast. Simply mount a caragor and sprint around the map looking for groups of slaves. The slaves will appear as small black arrows with 1-3 uruks (large red arrows) nearby. Avoid strongholds since you won't find large groups of slaves and they can be difficult to navigate. Caves, crop fields, and rocky outcrops are good places to look.

Once you are in range, draw your bow to enter focus mode and line up headshots to take down the uruk guard(s). You don't have to hang around once the uruks are dead, just shoot them and sprint off to look for the next group of slaves. If you run low on Elf-shot, drain your mount to get more.

Keep sprinting around the map until the achievement unlocks. I completed this achievement on the Udun map, which is a little easier to navigate on a caragor.

Performed at the end of the game, there were a lot of branded captains, as a result, some of the Uruks who kept the slaves were their own, riding around on their mountain, he freed a dozen slaves, ordering the Uruks to beat their enemies (slaves are not enemies for them), maybe it will help someone

Well, in addition, if your Caragor was killed, and you feel that you have freed 30-40 slaves, quickly return to the tower through the map, catch a new Caragor, and after freeing the remaining slaves, you will still be credited with this reward if you meet the time limit

I couldn’t get it from the cutscenes on the second map, I tried many times, but the slaves didn’t respawn at every pop, so I got it differently. And for some reason, he freed about the same number of slaves as in the video, but it was still not enough.

We need a well-developed character (it’s better to have all the skills at once, but the one with whom we can remotely ride a caragor is required , branding with reprisal also helped me ). It’s better to do all this during the day, have runes with you to increase the attack power of a bow and sword, increase damage when on horseback, have a pumped up bow.

We appear during the day in the center of the first map on the tower, target the cell with the Caragor, destroy it, and immediately teleport to it with a shot.

We begin to circle around the mountain where this central tower is, shooting with a bow at the heads of the orcs next to the slaves, slashing with a sword and calling on the orcs to attack the enemies (of course, there should be many previously killed orcs around). They gave me the trophy in just a minute of such action.

This video helped me a lot. Because all the points are nearby and you won’t get lost, also if you press the PS button to minimize the game, the countdown stops. I watched the video and ran around at the same time, I received it without any problems.

This video is much clearer. If you have problems with orientation, then wait for sunny weather (go to another location and then return). It's easy to get lost in the fog.
