How to unlock the Death is not the End achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of War - Definitive Guide

Fairly straightforward.

Complete Act III and conquer Minas Morgul.

Then complete all three Orc pit fights in Minas Morgul.

Doing so earns you the Undying Loyalty Upgrade.

Then head to the Army screen and select a dead follower and press Y to resurrect the follower to earn this achievment

Given that this is my first solution, any feedback on it will be appreciated

When you say complete, do you mean the first quest stage, Maggots, or all 3.

The way to use the skill is described wrong.
You need to have full might metre and the hit X and Y as your captain dies.

You can do it both ways. But I think it costs currency through the menu.

How much mirian does it cost through the Army menu? You should add both that cost and the button prompt for in-game skill usage (X + Y).

Good first guide, thank you.

Undying loyalty has nothing to do with resurrection it will stop them from betraying you, but all you need to do is complete the game this guide is a complete lie.

umm... stephendamighty, you need to look at the description for "Undying Loyalty". Here you go:

"Resurrect Captains or Higher ranked Orc Followers".

You are wrong, and this guide is not a complete lie.

does anyone have any tips for leveling up quicker? I have the XP boosts in my gear as much as a I can and I complete all areas fully before moving on but I'm still only like lvl 37 with only Minas Morgul left. Or am I getting ahead of myself and is there a crap ton of XP there?

I ask because the champion fight pits are too high level for my followers...

@SMIZZ BEATZ, Make sure you have white gems attached to your armor, then do vendetta missions. Some will net you 3-9k,depending on the level of the enemies. When it's 1v1, only kill one to complete the mission, let the other live and level up so his missions will be worth more xp.

@TellTaleReaper Thanks. I think I was a little ahead of myself since now I am lvl 51-52 in stage 3 of Shadow Wars. I just don't want to have to grind to 60 for the Such Great Heights achievement.

You don't need to have Undying Loyalty to get this achievement. I got the achievement, and I haven't beaten the Minas Morgul fight pits yet, and don't have Undying Loyalty. I can only resurrect grunts at this point. I don't know WHY I got it, but I got it by manually reviving a dying captain during a fortress defense. It doesn't make sense to me why I got it, but I got it. If anyone knows how I got it, that would be interesting.

The option to resurrect (Y) only appears in the army screen if you activate the skill 'Undying Loyalty' in the character screen. This is an upgrade of the skill 'Raise Dead', at the end of the 'Wraith' section.

I activated the skill but I don't see the resurrect option in the army screen. Maybe I need to have it active before the follower dies?

To win the Pit Fight - Champions I need to increase my level so I can have stronger folowers up to level 56 or it's just a matter to reveal all enemy orcs on the amry screen and get rid of the high level ones? I tought this so when the pit fight starts there will be only weaker enemys available to enter the fight...

Same as Jedimark - there's no Y prompt in the army screen even after activating the skill

I had trouble getting a captain resurrected. What finally worked: I went to online conquest, waited until one of my captains bled out and then did the resurrection next to him (obviously the Undying Loyalty has to be activated).

At the end of Act III you'll conquer Minas Morgul.
From here you'll need to either introduce your own captains from lootboxes or dominate ones from the current pool in the city.
Then the final three Pitt Fight missions open up.
Complete all three and you'll be rewarded with a new skill, "raise dead".
You'll then need to purchase the "revive captain" addon to it witha skill point.

There are two ways the achievement will unlock.
One is using the skill, which isn't too hard in the Shadow Wars questline to achieve.
The other is through Army Menu, which costs ingame currency.

1) The skill requires you to resurect a defending captain or bodyguard. You can't simply call your bodyguard and kill him yourself, as that'll result in betrayal and block the achievement.
You can do this easily in the Shadow Wars questline. Let a captain bleed out when they go down and then resurect them in combat. Do this by having a fill might metre and then hitting cn_X and cn_Y together. To resurect them and any grunts around you. Enemy grunts will also be resurected.

2) When a captain dies, you can go to the menu and press cn_Y on their corpse, which seems to cost ingame currency.

I prefer using the skill as it turns the tide of battle, but if you didn't get the chance too, the second option is available to you.

It doesn't cost anything to resurrect through army screen.

As you say, it's potentially more useful to do it during battle as you've got another guy fighting for you, but there's no additional drawback to doing it on the army screen. Just the loss of 5 levels, lose ability to gain levels, loss of class perks, take extra fire damage, take less poison damage, and gain undying loyalty (although I had an undead Olog betray me after I killed his blood brother so not sure if that's true) that happens no matter which way you revive them.

To unlock this achievement you need to resurrect a follower Captain. First you will need the skill to resurrect dead Captains. Towards the very end of the game you will unlock a skill called 'Raise Dead' and then an upgrade to that skill called 'Undying Loyalty'. Once you have both of these go into the Army menu and find any of your Orc Captains that have been killed, or if you have none then set two of your followers to fight each other in the pits to guarantee one of them dies, then find them on the Army screen and resurrect them by pressing on them.

Resurrecting a Follower requires the 'Raise Dead' skill and the upgrade 'Undying Loyalty', which is obtained after completing Act 3 and finishing all Fight Pit mission in Minas Morgul.

Equip the skill in question and on the army screen hover over a dead captain and press to resurrect him. If you don't have a dead allied captain you can command one to fight another in a pit fight then resurrect the loser.

According to the story, you will receive the resurrection skill. Go to the "Army" and pick up your dead captain with the ∆ button

In order to resurrect, you must first go through all the Pits and unlock the Skill upgrade for resurrection

No need to go through holes. After the pits they will give you an additional skill for resurrection in battle. We need to resurrect the army in the menu, and for this a plot skill is enough

I received the trophy after completing all the “Battle Pits”, an addition to the tips above, since the resurrection skill must be active in the “Character” section. The slot is located on the right edge, almost at the bottom, in the internal additions to the slot - this is point 3, which has the following wording : “resurrection of captains or higher” (I don’t remember verbatim, but the essence does not change!

Even in order to resurrect an army from the screen, a third upgrade is needed. And it turns out after passing all the holes. Read the description - it describes exactly how to use it and what the negative consequences are. It helps well after losses during the defense of a fortress, in order to immediately have a temporary solution to protect against online assaults. But this skill is no longer good for anything - resurrected orcs do not grow in level and lose some skills.

The comrade above is exactly right. To obtain the resurrection skill, you need to go through the “Pits” in Minas Morgul. This is exactly how you will not get the resurrection skill. Here is a screenshot of the achievement for completing all the pits (the last one was the most difficult one in Minas Morgul), as you can see, it is at this moment that they explain how the resurrection skill works. And as a bonus, they give the ability to raise captains in battle.

Gained the ability to resurrect after passing the last pit. But in order to resurrect, you need to activate the perk and its improvement (located in the “Ghost” branch is the “Resurrection of the Dead” perk and activate the “Loyalty to the Undead” improvement). Then we go to the Army and look for any of our fallen soldiers who have the inscription “resurrect”
