How to unlock the Hostile Takeover achievement in Middle-earth: Shadow of War - Definitive Guide

You will get this during Act I as it has to be done to progress but it can also be done before the mission. Either way, focus on what the strengths and weaknesses are. It is quite easy to overpower the captains this early in the game, if, like me you have completed miscellaneous quests and collectables.

Here is the story mission where you have to kill a Warchief, and I show you how easy it can be. His captains were all killed within 2 minutes, along with himself.

Although this will normally come as part of the story progression, it is actually possible to miss it there. During the quest "Rain of Arrows" in the Shelob quest-line you will first take out some archers and then you will begin the fight against the Warchief. If you take down most of the Warchief's health and then let a follower get the killing blow, you will actually not unlock the trophy.

There is always Warchief's in the army that you can go for, so it isn't a big issue if you do not get the kill and trophy here. Just something to watch out for if you are trying to get the trophy during this quest.

To unlock this achievement you need to defeat a Warchief. Warchiefs are installed as defenders of fortresses and can either be encountered when you attempt to take a fortress (not recommended) or you can attack them before assaulting their respective fortress to bring them out into the open.

Go into the 'Army' menu in the pause screen and select a Warchief that is attached to a fortress that you don't own. They will have a quest tied to getting to them in the fortress they are part of and you will have to do a small task in order to draw them out such as stealth killing ten enemies or releasing three caragor, then that Warchief will appear. From here you will then need to fight them and either kill them, or preferrably dominate them and recruit them into your army so that you can use them to help you take the fortress. Either way, defeat them to unlock this achievement.

It is worth mentioning that the achievement "It Came From Within" requires you to turn all of the Warchiefs of a fortress against the Overlord by dominating them and then attacking the fortress. So dominating Warchiefs should be a top priority before killing them whenever possible. You unlock the ability to dominate enemy Orcs during the main story.
