How to unlock the Worrior achievement in Midway Arcade Origins - Definitive Guide
If you're aggressive in chasing down and killing the blue Burwors, and killing the other Worrior whenever you can, it's just a matter of killing off the yellow Garwors and red Thorwors to progress. When things got hectic, I sat in a corner on the right and jammed the fire button.
The bug-like Worluk appears in the third and fourth "double points" stages, and will escape through the doors on the edges of the screen. He's worth a good number of points if you can kill him.
It took me 3 or 4 tries, but I was able to get it on the fourth stage.
My game totally took a dump when the achievement unlocked, though. It slowed to a crawl, and even though I wanted to continue playing, I had to pause the game exit to the game select menu.
This game is an absolute blast, and a sorely overlooked title.
Your priority here is to eliminate the other player. Once he's lost his three lives, he won't ever be coming back and therefore all of the points will be yours for the taking. When you start the game, avoid the enemies and make your way to the other side as quickly as you can. Track the other player down and shoot him up. One shot is all you need. When he's done, go and camp by his base and shoot him as soon as he comes out. The monsters should leave you alone, although you'll have time to shoot them inbetween your opponent's respawns if necessary. You will need to kill him three times and then he's a goner for the rest of the game, plus you will be 3,000 points towards your total.
Slowly and carefully pick off the rest of the blue enemies. This shouldn't be a problem. If an enemy shoots at you, shoot them back before their bullet connects - this will make their shot disappear. Once they are done, you will get a yellow monster and a red monster come after you. These tricky devils can make themselves invisible temporarily, so use the map at the top of the screen to keep an eye on where they are. Back up into one of the corners and fire in the direction they are coming at you from - you'll get them soon enough. This will end the first dungeon, and you should already have between 3,500 and 5,000 points.
The second level plays just like the first except there's a greater number of enemies. You won't have your rival to deal with here, so just keep your cool and don't let the clunky controls get the better of you. Remember, there's no shame in spamming the fire button. Take your time, use the map and hide in the corners.
The third level will end with an appearance of the Worluk. This creep is mostly harmless (unless you collide with him), but he moves fast. Try to predict his movements and cut him off before he escapes off the left or right side of the screen. He is worth 1,000 points, plus he will unlock a special Double Points dungeon. This special level doubles the point value of everything so it will get you to 10,000 points in no time.
If you miss the Worluk on the third level, he shows up again on the fourth.
Once you hit the 10,000 point target, the game WILL crash and almost grind to a halt. If you can put up with the sluggish speed and the painfully slow robot voiceover, you can just about play the game, but it won't be any fun. I think I got up to about 15,000 points before I let something put me out of my misery.
It should take between three and five games for you to get the achievement, depending on your skill level. Always remember to take your time, to use the corners and the map and fire as much as you can. Good luck!
In any case, kill off the blue Worrior as soon as the game starts, and then it should only take three levels to get to 10,000 points, and you'll absolutely have more than 3x your opponents' score.
Easy 85G, easier than most people have been led to believe.
Wizard of Wor is a very interesting and kinda fun game. The trophy is also mighty easy to get. Just stay on your side (for the most part) and be aggressive. Make sure to take down the occasional different colored baddie - they are worth more points - and your opponent. Keep it up and you will get 3x his score and over 10,000 points very easily.
This achievement wont take much effort, it may be easier for you to try and work towards killing the enemy player so that you have more enemies to kill and thus reach the goal more quickly.
As the levels progress the enemies will get quicker so just focus on killing them, it is wise to pop in and out to get one enemy to come towards you so you can get an easy kill. Also do your best to get the bonus creatures that go really fast, killing these will get you to 10k by the third round if you kill almost all the enemies as well.
