This works both online and in splitscreen. Simply acquire a diamond and drop in in front of another player, then have them pick it up.

Yeah split screen doesn’t work.

I did it in splitscreen so they either changed it in an update since then or you somehow did it incorrectly. Make sure you're in a world where achievements are not disabled.

If someone gives you diamonds, from another world.. simply craft those diamonds into a block(s) of diamonds and then craft back into single diamonds again. should reset the nature of where those diamonds came from, and it worked for me on splitscreen. The world was always a survival world. Someone got into my game and gave me tons of diamonds. That's the method i chose.
