How to unlock the A Friend in Need achievement in Minecraft Dungeons - Definitive Guide
You need to find the following items and use it at least once to summon the allies.
Wonderful Wheat - Llama
Tasty Bone - Wolf
Golem Kit - Iron Golem
There are more than one place where these can be found, but the following are locations where you can find them in the chest you get after beating the level. This is one of several items that can spawn in that chest, but you have very good chance to get them.
Tasty bone can be found in Creeper Woods on any difficulty.
Wonderful Wheat can be found in Cactus Canyon and Obsidian Pinnacle on any difficulty.
Golem Kit can be found on Pumpkin Pastures on Apocalyptic difficulty.
Wheat and Golem may be level locked and does not spawn until you are higher than a certain level. Golem Kit for example, only spawned for me after I hit level 53 which is lowest level of artifacts in that area for Apocalyptic difficulty.
You can also buy these from the store that sells the artifacts (left of the mission select). The store gives you random items based on your level, so wheat and golem may not spawn until you reach a certain level. (It has been confirmed by a few people that all can be bought from the store.)
Once you have the item, equip it and use it to unlock this achievement.
It's one of two options: just get to Apocalypse
How to obtain the Wheat (Lama):
Difficulty: All
Where to get it?:
Level (Apocalypse): Cacti Canyon, Obsidian Pinnacle
Level (Adventure): Cacti Canyon, Obsidian Pinnacle
Level (Default): Cacti Canyon, Obsidian Pinnacle
OR Wandering Trader at the camp
How to obtain the Tasty Bone (Wolf)::
Difficulty: ALL
Where to get it?:
Level (Apocalypse): Creeper Woods, Redstone Mines,
Level (Adventure): Creeper Woods, Redstone Mines,
Level (Default): Creeper Woods
OR Wandering Trader at the camp
How to obtain the Iron Golem Kit (For Iron Golem):
Difficulty: Apocalypse
Where to get it?:
Level: Pumpkin Pastures (Maybe the secret level but I haven't unlocked it)
OR Wandering Trader at the camp
As stated above these are 100% luck drops or trades. I wish you all luck!
Edit: I was watching videos and talking to a few players. Turns out the most common way people have gotten the Iron Golem Kit is the Wandering Trader. Hope this helps!

These allies are summoned through artifacts. These artifacts are unlocked in 3 main ways: through the reward chest for completing a level, by purchasing a random artifact from the wandering trader (joins your camp early in the Default playthrough), and through the random set drops for each level (these can be viewed from the level select map, but don't guarantee that the specific item will drop in your playthrough). The artifacts you need to unlock are the Wonderful Wheat (Llama), Tasty Bone (Wolf), and Golem Kit (Iron Golem). While the first two can be unlocked at any point thanks to RNG, the Golem Kit only becomes available as an unlock after completing the game on both Default and Adventurer difficulty.
See the video below for more information.
This should be able to be found in the following missions:
Creepy Crypt
Cacti Canyon
Underhalls
Soul Sand Valley (DLC)
I did use the wonderful wheat, and the tasty bone, but I noticed I did not have anything for a golem so I tried the soul lantern instead, and it shockingly worked.
I spawned all three within the camp as well, not sure if that makes a difference in the conditions of unlocking this without the golem
Regarding the llama & golem, go on a tower run and you'll get one if not both artifacts needed for their summoning. I got the Golem Kit quite early in a run and the Wonderful Wheat a little while later.
I got the Wonderful Wheat from a daily quest reward too, though that was just lucky.
Wonderful Wheat is available as a possible drop in the following levels/difficulties:
- Cacti Canyon - All Difficulties
- Obsidian Pinnacle - All Difficulties
- Creeper Woods - All Difficulties
- Creeper Crypt - All Difficulties
- Redstone Mines - Adventure/Apocalypse
- Secret COW Level - Apocalypse
- Pumpkin Pastures - Apocalypse
Artifacts drop on any difficulty.
