How to unlock the The Eponymous Squid achievement in Minecraft Dungeons - Definitive Guide

This achievement is found on the tutorial level Squid Coast.

To start Squid Coast you have to play in offline mode on default difficulty or make a new character.


You will need to find 4 Sunflowers around the level and when you stand on one it will spawn a button, all 4 of these buttons needs to be pressed in order. If you press the wrong order you will hear a cow noise.

First Sunflower/Button is after the second stone bridge from the start of the level. Turn right after immediately after crossing the second bridge and a lighthouse will be on the right of the flowers.

Second is near the end of the level in a large pond of water on the right. It has a single flower.

Third you need to turn back and head towards the start area. Once you pass a stone bridge with the big waterfall behind it, immediately turn left, you will have to go up behind some trees.

Fourth you need to turn back again and head towards the arena/statue area. It is on the stairs on the left behind the statue.

Now that you have pressed all four go back to the beginning of level and on your right side there is a small island you can roll over to, the Squid will spawn there on the dock.


If you doing this in local co-op only the first person to get to the squid will get the achievement.

Nice, glad you managed to figure it out Zaylex! I found the pier pretty quick but it would've taken ages to guess standing on various flowers for x seconds ^.^

Great solution, something to add: Squid Coast didn't show up for me in offline until I switched to default difficulty.

Great guide but I want to add: I was playing 3 player couch co-op when we did this. The only person who got the achievement is the first person who rolls across to the island and crosses the wooden bridge. We had to play this 3 times in order for all of us to get it.

You don't need to be offline or create a new character. As long as you're on default difficulty then Squid Coast is just on the map.

For me at least, Squid Coast didn't appear as a playable mission on Default difficulty until I switched to an Offline game mode.

In case you already have a lvl hero, you have to make a NEW hero and do all of above.. if not the achievement wont pop

Can confirm you don't need a new hero. Just go to it on easiest difficulty and do the mission again and it should pop. It did for me.

I also didn't have to create a new character, just put it on Default difficulty and everything popped fine.

Completed online, with level 102 hero.
Changed difficulty to Default using Y on the map screen

Standing near them will cause a chirping sound to begin and eventually a button will pop into existence. You need to press the buttons in the following based on when you find them in the level: 1, 4, 2, 3. Afterward, head back to the beginning of the level to roll across to a new dock. You will be rewarded with a chest and walking to the end of the dock will unlock an easter egg and your achievement

You should be able to access Squid Coast by setting yourself to Default difficulty. It doesn't show up on Adventure or Apocalypse.
