Good guide but definitely not 4 minutes. Already been doing it 15 minutes and now my pickaxe broke so I'm hitting those blocks with my hands...

To make this go quicker (and to anyone trying to do this) use the 2 snowblocks and build up so your 2 blocks high. now Jump... once you land the chest will refill and you can take it, press 'B', and then repeat much quicker than going up and down the stairs

Nice. Golem chest wasn't refilling for me so I climbed the towers and mined the rings. Lots more time and died twice in the process ha ha. I like to make a chest and put it in the bedroom to stash the blocks as I progress (and sleep in the bed to set my spawn point)

Unfortunately this achievement requires you mine alot of iron, I mean a whole lot. 1476 ingots to be exact. This is because you need 164 iron blocks, and since it takes 9 ingots to make a block, 9 x 164= 1476. I should mention this can also be done using either gold, diamond, or gem blocks, but since iron is signifcantly more common then these, it's your best bet. The reason you need so much is because there are 2 requirements to this achievment, 1 is to build a beacon, and the other is to fully power it. Building the beacon itslef can take quite a while, it requires 5 glass blocks, 3 obsidian, and a nether star, looking like this (G=glass block, O= obsidian, N= nether star)

G G G
G N G
O O O
Obviously the only difficult to obtain piece is the nether star, which can be only obtained by killing the wither, which is quite a task in itself and I won't go over here.

The beacon, when placed, sends a beam of light into the sky. When placed on normal ground thats about all it does, however, it can be powered to create a buff which gives all players close to it an ability, such as increased speed, jumping, strength or health.

There are 4 levels available to pwoering up the beacon, each on only increases the range of the previous. To power it up you must build a pyramid out of the iron blocks, with the beacon sitting on top, The lowest power is simple a 3 x 3 square, with the beacon placed in the center. By adding underneath it a 5 x 5 square it is level 2, followed by a 7 x 7 then finally a 9 x 9 square meaning it is fully powered. So to fully power it you must make a square pyramid out of iron blocks with a base of 9 x 9 blocks, and the beacon in the center. As soon as you place the beacon the achievement unlocks.

The trouble with this achievement is the amount of time it will take you to get such a crazy amount of iron. If you are not up to the task of getting such a stupid amount of iron, you can always use the duplication glitch, which requires you make only 1 iron block and have built a double chest, the other guides explain how to do this glitch. An even quicker method is by just going into the tutorial, as there is a beacon already built with the top two levels there, so you do not have to craft a beacon and duplicating the items happens much faster.

As of this moment (12 Apr 2019) this achievement can be done purely in the Tutorial world alone.

A fully powered beacon is done with a 9x9 base with a 7x7, 5x5 and 3x3 on top with the beacon going on last in the middle.

It does NOT need to made of Iron alone. You can use Iron, Gold, Diamond or Emerald blocks to form any layer.

If you harvest the rings in the tutorial world (high up where you fly the Elytra through) and the 2 layer premade diamond beacon down the bottom first, you can complete this with Achievement using these materials alone in the following configuration :

9x9 base - Diamond Blocks
7x7 layer - Emerald Blocks
5x5 layer - Gold Blocks
3x3 layer - Emerald Blocks

Finish with the beacon on the top middle and boom, achievement complete.

thought I should point out if you load up the tutorial world and go to the Beacon there is already a beacon there...just mine it or take one of the ones out of the picture frames there, then just duplicate the Iron...unless you want to to it legitimately then be my guest but since all my worlds got deleted I think I'll just take the easy way out for this one

Oh that's too bad Stan, with that your only option is to actually mine all of the iron.

It's weird they would patch it, it's been in the game since the game first launched on 360 without being patched, surprised it took them this long.

Ok, so there is also a strip of 26 diamond blocks under the fence of the mansion at X:-19 to X:10, Y:70, Z:329. That should help some people out too

To fully power a beacon you have to create a pyramid using any combination of iron, gold, emerald or diamond blocks. The pyramid is 4 layers with the beacon on top. 1st layer is 9x9, then 7x7, 5x5, 3x3 for a total of 164 blocks or 1476 ingots. Normally, this would take a very long time. Thanks to Content Update 48 and it's wonderful new Tutorial World, however, this achievement is now unbelievably easy to obtain with well over 200 iron, gold, emerald and diamond blocks readily available.

After exiting the starting area, head across the bridge and towards the beacon (the beam of light shooting into the sky). You'll see two towers on either side of the beacon, with colorful rings of gold, emerald and diamonds. There are 10 rings with 24 blocks each, which is more than enough to make a fully powered beacon and then some.

Go around the beacon then turn left. On the right are iron blocks, grab the others from the chest near them, punch a tree and use the crafting table next to the anvil you passed previously to make iron pickaxes. Grab the blocks from the towers then dig out around the beacon and fill it in with blocks.

You have to fill in the pre-built beacon with blocks as it is initially filled with dirt blocks.

Load up the tutorial world and locate the area where you learn about trading with villagers. You will see a chest there with 11 Emeralds in it, these you will need to duplicate. You can do this by grabbing them from the chest, declining the notification asking if you require help with trading by pressing cn_B. Then leave the area and come back. Rinse and repeat until you have enough blocks for the beacon.

As of March 18, 2017, there is a tutorial world that has plenty of materials to make the beacon. However, there is a way to duplicate the iron blocks and you don't even have to do anything super special. One thing to note is that this only works when you first load up the tutorial world, as reloading the world removes the tutorials, and you need them to do this "glitch".

Load up a brand new tutorial world, then go to the iron golem building area (X -30, Y 80, Z -80) and notice the pop up saying "In this area are some pumpkins and blocks to make a Snow Golem and an Iron Golem." Open the chest and take the 6 iron blocks out, then back away from the chest and just outside of the area. Then walk back in and the pop up will show up again. Do not hit cn_B, just open the chest while the dialog is up and the iron blocks respawn. Loot, then leave the chest, and hit cn_B to get rid of the dialog. Back out of the area, then go back in. Repeat until you have at least 2 and a half stacks of iron blocks. If you want, you can continue to get more if you like, I'd get 3 stacks. If you want to keep from being in the dark, there is a safe bed you can sleep in at (X -17, Y 82, Z -105). If you don't think you will make any mistakes, you can forgo getting an iron pick axe, but I like to have it to be safe. If you want to make one, go to the chest outside of the bed location and grab 2 sticks from the banner crafting chest.

Go to the beacon at (X -16, Y 75, Z -52) and grab the 5 iron ingots out of the chest. You can use these at any of the crafting tables all over the place to make an iron pick axe in case you mess up. There is one along with 6 steaks of food in a chest at (X -11, Y 82, Z -3). With this pick you can grab the beacon off of the top of the beacon that is already there, but you can also punch the item frame above the door, there is a beacon in that. From here, you just need to find a location that will let you do the 9X9, 7X7, 5X5, then 3X3 pyramid and put the beacon on top of that. You really don't need the pick axe if you are careful. I would suggest the Elytra area after removing the gold pressure plate because this is a 13X13 area without anything in the way. The center point of this is at (X -16, Y 85, Z -119). If you happen to need more blocks, go back to the golem tutorial and repeat the process to get more.

The reason that this works is because the coding of the tutorial world allows you to learn about how the systems work, and harasses you with the tips even if you make them go away. When a new pop up loads to help you, it reloads the chest. If you make the dialog go away the items still respawn, but you must get the dialog box to come back to respawn the items. This allows you to get an infinite number of these items so long as you do not break the chest. If you reload the world after it has saved, it will stop the tutorial dialogs from coming back and it won't respawn the items.

Comment if you have any questions or comments about this, including when this no longer works for you, as they have been updating the game often and might break this method. I've tried to make this as easy as possible to follow, but keep in mind this will ONLY work in the tutorial world on first creation. If you want to make the beacon in your own world you will have to do it the old fashioned way by getting the materials and defeating a wither.

Also, I was having trouble getting achievements to show up for me, so if it doesn't pop, check your unlocked achievements in the app on the left to see if this unlocked for you without fanfare. After I checked it, it finally did show up about a minute later.

Edit: Currently in the process of uploading a 5 minute video showing how to make this work.

Edit 2:

Sorry, this Game Clip has been removed

This achievement can be made quite easily using the new tutorial world.

What you want to do is head to the Iron Golem tutorial, and when you get there do not press the B button when the tutorial message pops up, instead open up the chest and remove all of the iron blocks that are in there, I believe there are about six or seven.

Press B twice to back out of the chest screen and hide the tutorial message, then turn around and head down to the bottom of the stairs until the blacksmithing tutorial pops up. Back out of that and go back up to the Iron Golem tutorial, do not exit out of the tutorial message, just open the box again. If done correctly the iron blocks will have been replaced with new iron blocks. Repeat this until you have about two and a half stacks of iron blocks.

Now that you have enough material, head back to the top of the stairs where the diamond begin is at, this area is the perfect size for your first layer which is 9 x 9. After making the base you're going to need to do 7 x 7, then 5 x 5, lastly 3 x 3. Right above the stairs leading down to the diamond Beacon is another beacon in the picture frame, take that and place it at the very top in the middle of the 3 x 3 level.

Your achievement will now pop.

I've made a video that I have not yet edited down, but until then this shows how to do the item duplication, and the layers of the pyramid needed. Skip to the last three minutes or so to see the ending of it.

I have the world saved, so if you need help, I can invite you. Just break one of the blocks, and then replace it.

This achievement is actually a lot easier than many people think and requires little to even no mining of raw materials. First, load up the tutorial world. As soon as you can save, exit, then reload the game in peaceful mode just so you don't starve or get attacked by monsters. Once you spawn back into the tutorial world, he'd straight. There you will find a pre made beacon on diamond blocks. From there, take iron from the nearby chest as well as wood from many nearby trees to craft an iron pick axe. Mine all the diamond and the beacon. After this, continue in the same direction and you will find large towers that contain many blocks of gold, diamonds, and emerald around and on top of them. Simply mine wood or stone or whatever to use to climb and for scaffolding when you're around the blocks. Once you mine the blocks, you should have plenty to make the pyramid. Start with the 9x9 the 7x7, 5x5 and finally 3x3. IT IS OKAY THAT THE BLOCKS ARE DIFFERENT. When I did this and topped it with the beacon the achievement popped. Hopefully this guide is helpful!!

For players who are struggling with this achievement, because of recent patches, here is a great solution which can greatly help you to duplicate ore so you have enough blocks to fully upgrade the beacon. This solution can take quite a long time but makes the achievement much easier to unlock.

First, you need to load the tutorial world. I suggest you set your game on peaceful mode. Skip the practice (press B) then go to the village and pick the 5 iron bars in the chest located in front of the beacon (X:37, Y:68, Z:-30).

Chop the tree nearby then craft planks to create a workshop. Next, craft more planks then a stick to forge a iron pickaxe.

Just in front of the beacon is a small passageway, between two houses, which leads to the background of the village. Follow it then go to the church (X: -118, Y: 69, Z: -77). Enter the church and go at the very end then use your pickaxe to grab the 12 gold blocks on the floor.

External image

Then, go back to the beacon.

Now is the tricky part. To fully upgrade a beacon, you need 9x9 blocks for the base (81 blocks), 7x7 blocks for the first level (49), then 5x5 blocks for second level (25) and finally 3x3 blocks (9) for the top level. So you need 164 blocks in the end. And, of course, you need a beacon as well. Thanks to the one in the middle of the village, you can get 34 emerald blocks and, more importantly, a beacon. This means you still need 130 blocks.

You already have 12 gold blocks and now you will duplicate them to reach the amount you need.

Next to the beacon is a big wooden house with redstone and mechanisms. Go inside and pick all dispensers, some redstone powder, redstone torches and 2 levers inside the big chest in the middle of the staircase.

Now, go to the small place where there is a tree (the one you probably chopped to craft planks), in the middle of the town, near the beacon and build a rapid fire repeater. Follow this link to know how to build it correctly.

http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/duplication-glitch-c...

Don't forget to put fences around the workshop from the wall to keep everything at your range. And just to be clear, there is a redstone torch on both side of the brick block (front and rear). And, of course, the redstone powder coming from the two brick blocks with redstone torches links the back of the dispenser.

External image

Once it is built, activate the lever near the redstone torches so the redstone blinks. The dispenser must remain quiet so use the second lever to keep it silent.

Then, put every items you have in your inventory in the chest in front of the beacon, only to keep the 12 gold blocks and the 63 dispensers.

Go inside the hole in front of the dispenser you put on the ground and use the workshop to transform the 12 gold blocks into 108 gold bars. Turn around and put the 108 gold bars into the dispenser.

Now, the most important thing is that you need to have your inventory filled, except for 2 free slots. So, use the dispensers you kept to fill every slots except for 2 in your main inventory (the one at the bottom of the screen). Press X to put them one by one in each slot.

Now you will need to act very fast. Activate the other lever (the one on your right) to enable the rapid fire repeater then quickly interact with the workshop. Press LB then 3x left on the D-pad to select the option to turn gold bars into gold blocks. Press and hold A (never release it until the end of the full process) until the option gets blurred. Then, while still holding A, press right on the D-pad to select the option to turn gold blocks into gold bars. Then, when the option gets blurred, while still holding A, select the former option. And repeat the process by switching between the two options, one after the other.

At some point, the dispenser will stop dropping gold bars. You can keep the process up but not for too long, it's up to you. In the end, you need to turn every gold bars into gold blocks and you will notice that you now have more gold blocks than in the first place. It is best not to keep to many gold blocks in your inventory to keep the process efficient. When you have more than 21 gold blocks, put the rest in the chest.

Now, you just have to repeat the process until you have enough gold blocks (130). Then, take your pickaxe from the chest, destroy the emerald blocks and grab them. Then, grab the beacon, or one of those in the canvas. You can use the place near the rapid fire repeater to build the new beacon. Once it is fully built, with the beacon on top, in the middle of the top level (3x3), the beacon lightens and the achievement is yours.

EDIT : Even with the latest patch, this solution still works but is a bit slower since changing block to bars and bars to block is now a little more complicated, those two options being separated and not close to each other anymore. Anyway, you can still move from one colonn to the other and perform the same trick again. The trick will only leave you making less blocks in the same time as before. But it is still efficient.
