How to unlock the Lion Tamer achievement in Minecraft: Edition - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be easily unlocked in the tutorial world but note that the layout of the tutorial world sometimes changes but the method to unlocking is still the same.

Load up the tutorial and complete the basic features so you can go through the opening in the wall.

Once you have gone through the wall you're in a town and on the left there will be an area where there is farming and animals with pens.

You should see some pens with chickens, cows, pigs and you guessed it ocelots which are on your right, in front of the ocelots is a chest that contains the raw fish you need. Grab the raw fish and equip it and crouch (Click cn_RSc) and open the pen so that the ocelot runs out, follow it but not too close so you don't lose it, then you'll need to wait for the ocelot to calm down and stop being scared.

When it calms down it should come back to you slowly with its head down looking at you, once near press cn_LT to tame it and providing it worked there will be a flash of hearts and the ocelot with turn into a either a ginger black and white or Siamese cat.

Note: If the ocelot gets too close it will get scared off again and you'll have to start over and wait for it to come near you again. As well as this it you tame in this scared mode you will still see a flourish of hearts but no taming will occur.

Here's a video (Ocelot location may be different but the method is the same)

I keep getting the hearts when it comes to me, but it doesn't turn into a cat.

That will happen when the ocelot isn't in the right mode, they're really scared and you'll have to stay still once they decide to come to you.

I have given an ocelot almost a stack of fish and it still just gives off hearts but no cat. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tamed countless cats on the 360 and PC versions, but I cannot get it to work on this version.

Its all in the ocelots hands, you have to wait for it to stop being timid, come back to you and once near press LT as soon as you can since when it gets too close it gets spooked again, the hearts when you're near is you trapping it and trying to force it.

I keep getting an error message like "too many animals currently in love mode" even though I had no other animals in love mode. I even started a new tutorial world about 3 or 4 times and it said the same thing. any ideas for this?

I was having the same issue as some others with the "too many animals" thing, I was getting the hearts but nothing else. I wasnt sure if I had let the ocelot calm down or not. Here's what finally worked for me, I took some dirt and built up so I could jump over the fence, this way the ocelot couldn't escape. One immediately walked over to me and itquickly turned into a blacl cat when given the fish

There are two ocelots in the current tutorial world. One of them cannot be tamed for this achievement (keeps giving that overpopulation message). The other one that runs off, however, does. It ran itself behind pens for the cows and pigs, so what I did was to block one of the exits on the sides. It then turned around, and was forced to walk back straight towards me from the other side for an easy tame. Got it in a couple of minutes.

Any news on this one? I tried getting this after the 12/20 ish update that added slime blocks, andesite, etc. and I feel like it may be bugged. I've tried ocelots in the tutorial world and an actual survival world and get a message saying "maximum number of breeding animals has been reached" and I can not tame one. This is the last one I need for completion so I'd really appreciate some help, thanks guys

You can see in the new video that i got that message too and could still tame. Could just kill some animals around you.

I just got this achievement and I would like to add that it might be helpful to break up a few of the gates over by the farming section and use those to gate off the animal area. This way you can open up the ocelot pen and let them run around without worrying about them running away where you can't find them. This also allowed me to go get more fish (since the fishing area is right next to the animal pens) without having to keep an eye on the ocelots. I had to kill the chickens because the ocelots wouldn't even look at me while the chickens were alive (they kept charging at the chicken pen gates). I also found that if you pressed LT too quickly (before "Tame" option appeared) they would turn away or raise their heads (making it impossible to get achievement). Hope this helps!

While its a good idea for this version I wont add the fence idea to the solutions since I have to change most things each time they update the game laugh

Yeah I don't know what it is about this achievement, but it just won't unlock for me. I've loaded up multiple tutorial worlds and it will never "tame" an ocelot.

Are you crouching and letting the ocelot calm down and come to you before moving closer to tame? Or trapping it in a corner whilst its still scared?

+1 I had fenced off the animal area like DeathDealingCat suggested, but after 3 times taming them both, nothing unlocked. I destroyed one of the fences & as soon as I tamed one of them, achievement popped.

Just thought I'd mention this for those thinking about barricading the ocelots in.

I remember this being difficult to tame even in creative mode they are super picky like cats in real life.

But I got this while I was in the pin, (they where running into the gate of course had to let myself in). I put myself in the corner and crouched then I waited a bit I switch back and forth with the fish. (TIP: Sometimes you have to switch the fish back to your hand back and forth) Once I got one of theirs attention I stood still and it came to me slowly. I had to give the Ocelot 6 fishes, it had smoke steam on it's head and kept trying to tame it. Then it finally turned into a cat.

Thanks Spilner! +1 from me on all your solutions of course. :]

Typh3r I literally just got the achievement. Every time I went into the pen and let the first one out, no matter what I did I couldn't get the second one to come tiara me. As I made myself once to it x amount of times I was getting the " tame" prompt but kept getting the message about the overall population of animals; same message you were getting. What I did was leave the pen and destroyed the part of the fence where the ocelot was; near the corner where it seems to never move from. I followed the
THAT ocelot (via my excellent splinter cell skills), and then I was able to tame it OUTSIDE of the pen. I had like 8 fish and as it approached me and I tammed it I kept tossing fish while hearts were emitting from it and just held the last fish. Point being: free the 2nd ocelot and use that one for the cheevo. Let me know if it works buddy!

Tutorial Mode

Go to the stables near the start and pick up the fish from the chest. Enter the stable with the two ocelot's and close the door behind you. Now equip the fish and stand in a corner. Stand still and don't look at them directly. After a while one will walk up to you. Turn to him and choose the "Tame" option to pop the achievement.

This achievement requires:
A fishing rod
Water (Medium to large size lakes)
A uncooked fish
An ocelot

First Step is to make a fishing rod if you haven't already (3 sticks, 2 string), it can be found on the second tab in the CT to the right of the chest.

Second Step is to catch a fish which requires patience and timing. Once you throw the line out into the water you have to wait Untill you see the little ball go down under the water. Once you see this quickly use LT as you have about 2-3 seconds Untill it swims away and you have to try again.

Third Step is to find an ocelot and while holding your uncooked fish crouch and slowly approach the ocelot other wise it may run away from you if you're to fast.

Forth Step, once it has slowly started making it's way to you stand still! And once it's looking at you, use LT and once it eats the fish it will turn into a cat.

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED :)

This achievement is easily done on the tutorial level. Go up the stairs, and then turn left and go down the stairs towards the animals/gardening. Once you make it to the animal pens, you need to crouch! Go to the crate and pick up the Raw Fish. Equip them as well. Now go to the gate next to the crate and open the gate to allow the ocelots to run wild. You'll need to stay crouched nearby with the raw fish equipped until they feel safe and approach you. As it approaches you, use the raw fish on it, and it will fall in love and become tamed. If it is startled, this will not work! Just wait more until it becomes more relaxed and approach again.

Since the latest update, you cannot earn this in the farm area of the Tutorial World, but there is a workaround and it is very easy and takes around 10-15 minutes.

1. Mine some cobblestone, dirt, wood, whatever. You will need about 200 pieces.

2. Make a 2 block high tunnel leading from the Ocelot cage in the Tutorial World and lead it out to where you spawn in the Tutorial World, making sure there are no areas the Ocelot can get out. You want it to enter the spawn area.

3. Grab some Raw Fish and tame the ocelot.

Photos of the "tunnel" you need to build.

Boom, Achievement!

This should also work with mating the Cows.

The video posted is to help you find your way to the achievement in the TU19 updated tutorial world otherwise the solution is as others have posted.

Find animal pens to right of the fountain heading out of the starting area, grab raw fish from chest and enter ocelot pen being careful not to let any out, crouch down and wait for one to approach you and feed it until it changes which indicates you have tamed it. *pop*

Unlocked in LATEST TU Update

Little misleading if you try doing it the same way as the wolves. Find the Ocelots, and let them out while holding some fish (found in the chest nearby), crouch cn_RS and let them come to you. Once they do, give them the fish and once they turn docile, it will unlock.

Here's a video to help you out!!

(WARNING: THIS ACHIEVEMENT IS BUGGY, IT MAY NOT UNLOCK.)

For this achievement, you will need to feed an Ocelot some raw fish in order to Tame it. This can be done in the Tutorial world because there are two Ocelots in a Pen in the farm area. Be careful not to open the gates as the Ocelots will try to escape. Firstly grab the raw fish from the nearby chest, wait by the fence for one of the Ocelots to come to you, feed it a fish and with a bit of luck it will turn in to a cat and give you the trophy, try not to make eye contact as it may run away. This may take several attempts to pull off, keep trying and it will eventually work.

Here is a workaround if you suffer from the breeding limit glitch.

1: Save your game and disable the autosave.
2: Pick up the Raw Fish from the chest near the Ocelot enclosure.
3: Let the Ocelots out of their enclosure.
4: Now the tricky part - Follow one of them until you see them stop, now you must look away slightly but keep the Raw Fish in your hand. If done correctly, the Ocelot will slowly come up to you and allow you to feed them.
5: If you pulled off step 4 correctly, then keep on feeding the Ocelot until it changes into a Cat.

Here's a video to help:

Ocelots are the cats found primarily in jungle biomes. They are similar to wolves because they can be trained and protect you from monsters in the world, ocelots specifically scare off creepers.

To train an ocelot, you must get several pieces of raw fish (SEE: "Delicious Fish"); once you've gotten your fish, find a jungle biome and look for the cats that roam around the biome. Unlike wolves, you can't get just go up to an ocelot and start feeding them, if you do that the ocelot will just eat your fish and run away. You must crouch walk up to an ocelot with the fish in your hand and wait for the feline to slowly walk up to you; if the ocelot walks up to you, quickly press to start feeding the fish to it. If the ocelot is tamed, then hearts will appear above his head and the cat will change colors to look more like a domesticated house cat.
