How to unlock the Rainbow Collection achievement in Minecraft: Edition - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be earned easily in the tutorial area.

After completing/skipping the tutorial, dig up 2 yellow and red roses, they are on the ground in the starting area.

Now head up the steps, enter the building on your right with the enchanting tables, and access the chest on your right, and take out the iron pickaxe. Break the iron under the brewing stands in the building next door. Either make or place down a crafting table, and breakdown the blocks into ingots.

Now create some shears. Head down the stairs opposite the building you are in, and you will see penned up animals on your right. Shear all the sheep. You will get the following achievement if you don't already have it.

Minecraft: Xbox One EditionHave a Shearful DayThe Have a Shearful Day achievement in Minecraft: Xbox One Edition worth 21 pointsUse Shears to obtain wool from a sheep.

Now open your crafting menu, no table is needed, and access the decorations tab, make rose red dye and a yellow dye with the flowers you collected.

Now create red wool and yellow wool by combining the dyes with the wool you have sheared off the sheep. Straight across from the sheep pen is a chest. Access the chest and take out all the bones, and cyan dye.

Now create some bonemeal from the bones you collected under the decorations tab.

Next, combine the cyan dye with a piece of wool to make cyan wool. Combine 2 red dyes with bonemeal to make 2 pink dyes and the yellow dye with the remaining red dye to make orange dye. Combine the dyes with the wool to make orange wool and pink wool.

You should now have the following wool colors:
Orange wool
Pink wool
Red wool
Cyan wool
Yellow Wool
White wool

Next, head back up the stairs from the farm area back into the main village and take a left into the large building with the ender chests. Continue past a sandstone archway, and hop onto the stone wall and look out. You should see a large creeper looking monument off in the distance. Head towards it.

Once you arrive at what turns out to be a boat, climb onto the boat via the ladder on the side, and then climb up the ladder on the sail and hop off onto the sail itself. Now simply collect 1 lime wool, 1 black wool and 1 grey wool.

Ok now you'll need to do a bit of exploring. Search bodies of water until you find a squid. Kill it and take its inksacs. Combine an inksac with 2 bits of bonemeal that you should have from the bones you collected earlier, and make a light grey dye. Combine it with some white wool to make Light grey wool.

You should now have 10 of the 16 wool colors needed for the achievement.

Unfortunately their are no easy ways around the next few colors, but you already have some of the resources needed, bonemeal, red dye etc.

A few tips for the remaining dyes:

Green Dye: You'll need to find a cactus and break it, then smelt them in a furnace to make cactus green dye. Cacti can be found in desert biomes.

Coordinates for cactus plants X:-250 Y:64 Z:58
(credit to XsPurity)

Blue/Light Blue Dye: Mine lapis lazuli to create these, you'll need 1 piece of lapis combined with white wool to make blue wool, and 1 combined with bonemeal to create light blue dye, which then can be made into light blue wool.

Lapis can be found in the tutorial level at: x: 42 y: 18 z: -357.
(Credit to drewbayeor)

Purple/Magenta Dye: You'll also need 2 pieces of lapis to combine with 2 red dyes, to create 2 purple dyes. You should still have some pink dye left from earlier, and you'll have to combine it with the second purple dye to make magenta dye. Then combine them both with white wool to make purple wool and magenta wool.

Brown Dye: You'll need Cocoa bean for this, they can be found in cocoa pods on trees all over in jungle biomes or in dungeon chests.

EDIT: Cocoa beans can be found in a chest in a dungeon right by the main spawn in the tutorial world at coordinates: X: -41 Y: 60 Z: 8

It doesn't have to be on one world, or all at once.

Brown wool: I killed a Brown sheep

Blue/Light Blue Dye: Seed -7725975493618714 there's a huge chunk of Lapis at X: -139, Y: 15, Z: 209. Plenty for Blue, Light blue, Purple and Magenta wools.

Green DyeThe spawn is also right next to a tonne of Cacti, or if not, they're at the same co-ordinates, just on the surface.

Should you need bonemeal but want to play on peaceful, there's a desert temple at X: 201, Y: 66, Z: 202 with a load of bones.

great solution, and you should let people know that there are cocoa beans in a chest in a dungeon right by the main spawn in the tutorial world at coordinates:

X: -41
Y: 60
Z: 8

In case they didn't know or just need it done fast. This dungeon is right across from the main spawn area

It's worth noting the chest with the cocoa beans is right next to a monster spawner so is difficult to get to.

I'd suggest checking the jungle area just past the dungeon entrance first, as you're likely to find cocoa beans a lot easier there. (Sorry, didn't have a map on me to check co-ords, but you can see it from the dungeon entrance)

It also counts if you shear it directly from a sheep of the colour you're after; black, grey, light grey, white and brown.

I got this in the Inspirational Room at the mansion next to the pirate ship on the newer Tutorial Map. (X: -170, Y: 83, Z: 322)

All the colors are on the wall to the left... just punch them out.

In the tutorial world, if you keep walking straight from the spawn you will eventually come across a large crate that has all the wool in them.

I added all 16 to my inventory, then dropped and picked up. Achievement unlocked

It seems the description is slightly misleading. I gathered/crafted all 16 colors and did NOT get the achievement. I collected black, light gray, and brown from sheep and crafted the rest. Only after crafting the 3 colors I had simply collected did it unlock. So, if it doesn't unlock for you, try crafting all of them, including white.

In the texture pack I have it looked as if it was asking for a block of lapis as lapis is in a vial in the texture lack and it was an obvious block, I will get onto it soon and double check.

Might be worth saying that you can help a friend get this by letting them pick all the colours of wool out of a chest and then placing them back in.

Popped for my mate straight away!

@bonxy That didn't work for my friends, I had them all in a chest and they did that and no achievement.

A comment to the solution, it would probably be easier to find a white sheep and black sheep and sheer them then it would be to get a ink sac. Two pieces of wheat to make a gray sheep(which you can sheer), two more pieces of wheat to make a light gray sheep once they gray sheep is adult by mixing the white sheep and gray sheep.

Just adding this in case people don't read the comments!

If you have all 16 and it's still not popping for you, try putting them all on the floor and walking over them...aka..."gathering" them. Worked for me first try! (Thanks to Lacrimosaa for adding this to the comments)

You can get this within 5 minutes of starting the tutorial level. Upon leaving the beginning part of it make you way to the castle just left of the fountain. On the bridge to it you will see a sand village off across a pond. Go there, and standing on the furthest side from your starting point, look to your right you should see a vague outline of a ship. Go there. There will be a massive house next to it. And just as you walk in the front door, first door on your right, should say imagination room in it will be all the colors of wool some diamond blocks and a lot of other things.

Edit: Coordinates are X: -169, Y: 83, Z: 322 thanks to Stifler4Life

In the latest update of the game, the tutorial level was changed entirely, but this achievement was made even easier.
From the start, skip or play through the tutorial, and run up the staircase as normal. Make your way to the beacon at the forefront of the village. When you see the beacon at the bottom of a staircase, simply go past it, up the staircase on the right side. When you're on the other side, head up the short staircase in front of you. The game will prompt you with a tutorial about making banners. The Large Chest here contains every color of wool. Simply put them all down and mine them and the achievement is yours

Solutions have been done to death on this, but I didn't see a video for the latest version of the Tutorial world and it has a mind numbingly simple solution. Simply load the new tutorial, walk to the advanced area straight until you get to a big chest where you make beds, take all 16 colors of wool, plop one of each color down on the ground and then mine them all up, "*Boom* goes the dynamite!"
See vid if you want to watch it:

This may very well be the easiest achievement that sounds ludicrously hard in Xbox history. If you start the tutorial and just explore the world you should find a pirate ship docked next to a castle, climb the ladder beside the ship and enter the building.

Here you will find several doors labeled with signs, go into the door marked "Inspiration Room".

Inside of this room one of the entire walls is lined with literally every color of wool in the game, simply break one of each color and boom, achievement unlocked.

27 May 2015 21:57

This is the easiest method on the tutorial world.

1.Go to co-ordinates X: -212, Y:83, Z:326

2.When you get to the co-ordinates you will be in a room full of chests.

3.Look for the chest with the sign 'Wool'.

4.Open the chest and lay the Wool out on the floor, then break it and pick it up.

5. The Achievement will now pop for 30G.

Hope this helps everyone

*This solution works as of 1/5/2015, after the most recent major Minecraft update.

This guide is for people not wanting to craft every single color or create these in a survival game. There are other guides if you want to do that instead.

Be sure to have autosave turned off!

You can obtain this achievement in the tutorial world while also working on The Haggler achievement. While farming for various items to trade with villagers for emeralds, be sure to gather 20+ white wool. Find one of the villager "shepherds" in the main town right outside the initial spawn area. Save once you are standing in front of him, but before you trade anything (this makes it easier to reload and immediately begin trading with him again).

Trade him your 20 white wool for one emerald. You should see pinkish bubbles and green stars around him as he uses that wool to create colored wool. Now enter back into the trade menu with him and use whatever emeralds you have (I had 9 after I traded my white wool for his emerald) to buy the colored wool. I would recommend having at least 6 or more emeralds before you find him, that way you won't have to reload the game as many times, since each color of wool costs between 1 and 2 emeralds.

You probably won't have enough emeralds to buy all 16 colors in one go. This is why it is important to disable autosave before starting this process. Buy as many as you can, in order, from left to right, then quit without saving. Load the game back up, re-sell him your 20 white wool, wait for him to make colored wool, and then purchase the next batch of colored wool from him starting where you left off. I was able to get both The Haggler and Rainbow Collection this way. The game counts the emeralds you gather from him and the colors of wool you obtain whether you save or not. So just keep reloading this spot and keep selling him your white wool and buying his colored wool until your achievements pop!

This is a super easy achievement, and can be done in the tutorial.

Leave the tutorial area, head left to the iron pyramid. There is a chest with 5 iron ingots in. Craft shears from these on the crafting bench close by, (the fireworks area)

Shear the sheep that are in the pen which is also close by, and walk around shearing sheep until you have 13 pieces.

Now get a boat from the docks and make your way to the bottom left of the map. Here you should see a pirate ship, next to some land with a building on it. Climb the ladder to the top and make your way forward to the room with the minecart in. Use this and it will take you to another room. From here go through the door and drop down one of the trap doors to the first level you come to.

In this room there will be loads of treasure chests, one of which is full of every dye in the game for which you need to unlock this achievement.

Take the white wool out of the wool chest so you now have 15 pieces of wool. And then press X and move to the decorations tab, you will now be able to make every single colour of wool in the game, and boom achievement unlocked!

I did try and collect all of the wool out of the wool chest, but it didn't unlock, so hence gathered the wool by shearing and made them all myself.

If you want to do this in your own world: It is probably easiest if you build a fenced area or hole in which to contain your sheep. I am assuming you will sheer any sheep that you make. You can craft a sheer with a couple pieces of iron.

color 1, find some white sheep, feed them grain so you have plenty of white sheep
color 2 either find a black sheep or kill a squid to get ink, apply ink to a white sheep and it becomes black
color 3 give wheat to a black sheep and a white sheep, this makes a gray sheep
color 4 give wheat to gray sheep and a white sheep, this makes a light gray sheep

color 5 and color 6
go find some red flowers and yellow flowers. go to crafting table and make red dye and yellow dye
dye a sheep red, dye a sheep yellow

color 7 either craft the red and yellow dye together, or mate the red and yellow sheep to make an orange sheep. if you made orange dye, apply it to a sheep

color 8 mate red sheep with a white to make pink sheep
color 9 go grab some cactus from a sandy place, put cactus in your oven and it makes green dye. dye a sheep green with it
color 10 mate the green sheep with a white sheep, to make limesheep

color 11 go mine underground a bit, you will find lapis, use lapus to make a blue sheep
color 12 mate blue sheep with white to make a light blue sheep
color 13 craft lapis with green dye to make cyan dye, then dye a sheep cyan or mate a blue and green sheep.
color 14 craft lapis with red dye to make purple dye, then dye a sheep purple or mate a blue and red sheep
color 15 either craft purple and pink dye or mate purple and pink sheep to make magenta sheep

color 16 In jungles, there is a cocoa growing on trees, grab one of those, and apply seeds to a sheep to make brown sheep

If you have bones from skeletons, you can craft bone meal, and also use that to make light versions of sheep rather than mating with a white sheep. The dyes on the crafting is under decorations(the far right tab) and the fourth one in that starts as a yellow droplet. If you mate the sheep, you would sheer or mate the baby once it becomes big.

For this achievement you will need several pairs of shears, as well as making several dyes in the crafting table. Note that white, brown, gray and black wool can be found naturally on sheep.

Alternatively, if you have a friend who has all of the colors of wool, you can just take the friend's pieces of wool & then put them down and pick them up.

The colors of wool and their required materials are:
- White- The most common type of wool and can be found on most sheep.
- Red- Roses
- Yellow- Yellow flowers
- Green- Cactus
- Blue- Lazpiz Lazuli Ore
- Light Blue- Lapiz Lazuli Ore & Bone Dye
- Magenta- Combining purple & pinke dye
- Pink- Red dye & bone dye
- Light Gray- 2 bone meal & an ink sac
- Black- Ink sac
- Brown- Cocoa beans
- Cyan- Green dye & Lapis Lazuli
- Purple- Red dye & Lapis Lazuli
- Gray- Ink sac & bone dye
- Lime- Green dye & bone dye
