EDIT: As you may be able to tell from the comments, this achievement is extremely buggy. It works for some but not for others. If you can't get it to unlock, try the generic troubleshooting, such as clearing the cache, making a new world and starting over, disconnecting and reconnecting you account, etc. If all else fails, contact xbox support here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/games/minecraft-xbox-... by making a thread. If you see a thread already there for it, use that thread to post the issue. If they realize how many people are having the same problem, it'll have a better chance of getting noticed and forwarded to 4j Studios.

For those players, it will be their first achievement from Title Update 24 for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
So no more doubts, it works ;)
I need to post another solution because mine differs a little bit.
I was thinking if we had the same version, we could rule out some anomalies in regards to this buggy achievement and help each other, should mine fail to unlock.
Good point. I wondered this myself, if having to move around is needed versus letting your character just sit there, AFK.
I'm doubtful this would be the case, but I have heard clearing the system cache more than once is beneficial, but I can't back that statement, personally.
Now, what's this mention of a leaderboard? Does it display how long someone has played the game?
And idk about the leaderboard, I've heard you can see how many days you played, but idk how.
Gone idle for the necessary amount of time on new and old worlds, and also tried sleeping for 100 days. Played on HDD, internal storage and a flash drive as well as other consoles. Then as a final attempt, deleted and then recovered my account to see if that would work. I guess we just have to wait for 4j to patch the game.
Made two worlds & left my console aka for 4 days with both worlds. I even moved around probably longer than 4 days to make a Skyrim village. Just not sure what to do anymore. Hope it's patched. I have this achievement on the One and it didn't take even close to this long. I guess I'll make another world and try again for longer than 4 days.
For those interested it's a Digital copy. Cleared cache 3 times, started new worlds. I hope they release a patch for this!
The only difference I can think of is this: I'm using a physical copy and I actually set up a turbo controller to constantly press even though I was set up in an online world to prevent myself from idling out or whatever.
I genuinely hope this aids you all in someway and pray that I don't come across as condescending. I realize all of you have at least half a brain. :)
Thanks for the "quick" response :P
I set the world to an online game on easy difficulty, dug out a hole, lit it up with torches, and idled for a little over 24 hours. I had a wired controller plugged into the console the entire time that sat across the room untouched. When I woke up today, the achievement had unlocked.
Just moved all my Minecraft stuff from the HDD to a flash drive, cleared the System Cache 3 times, logged out my Xbox profile, made a new game, and now I'm sitting in a tree (for no real reason) praying it unlocks.
I'm also doing the online/idle method. If you turn the controller off while your world is loading the game won't pause and it'll still autosave. It'll say "Please reconnect controller", but that goes away after the first autosave.

If anyone else wants to post there as well maybe more people complaining might make them bump this up to a priority.
Tried VeLiaNTx's method, didn't work.
Tried Twenty Sevens' method, didn't work.
Cleared the System Cache a few times, didn't work.
Tried creating new worlds, didn't work.
Until 4J Studios get their asses together and releases an update where they finally fix this, I will not be playing Minecraft no more (officially, this time).
What worked for me using the physical copy:
-Backup world onto USB and move the save file info for profile onto the USB.
-Delete title update
-Clear cache
-Start Minecraft unpatched (Avatar award unlocked at title screen, game generated new save file info for profile)
-Played world save from HDD (world was regenerated)
-Save and exit world
-Quit Minecraft
-Install Update
-Start Minecraft and tried to play on the world saved on HDD (Xbox froze and needed reset)
-After restart generated new world on easy and achievement unlocked immediately
Restored old world and save file info for profile from USB and world loaded normally. Leaderboard values glitched out somewhere in this process with some resetting to zero and others being highly inflated. Hopefully this will work for others having the same issue.
On a side note: Its been nearly a month since microsoft support told me to contact their super special achievement ambassador team to fix this.. I have still not heard back from them. I have also received 0 input on the threads I posted on minecraft forums weeks ago. Seems no-one cares about this issue, so unless you manage to stumble on a miracle like cune did.. just give up now.
Just as described my world was regenerated and I then quit the world, re-downloaded the update and then loaded the world (Pop went the achievement) immedialtly after the world was loaded.
After it pops go delete the copied save and your new save info, then transfer the digital game, your old save info, and the orignal world save. And your good to go (your leaderboard stats will be all messed up, but its worth it "atleast it was for me")
I deleted everything to do with minecraft from my main harddrive. Game, Update, saves, save info. I then deleted my profile as well. I then cleared cache on main harddrive and internal memory drive 4-5 times each to be safe. So at this point I am at a clean slate.
I then copied a world save (that I know for sure has met the requirements) to the main harddrive from a usb. (Did not copy the save info file... should I?)
I then reinstalled digital version of game, which also automatically seems to install the update. So I deleted the update. Re-downloaded my profile. Cleared cache a few more times. So now I have just my old save and non updated version of game on main harddrive, usb removed, cache cleared.
Loaded old game - World regenerated. Saved game. Exited game. Checked Harddrive. No new save info file was generated. Reinstalled update. Loaded game. Nothing popped.
Repeated all steps. Pre reinstalling update. This time after loading and regenerating my old world I let the game run for 40 hours. When I came back there was a popup saying I had once again unlocked watch avatar award.. Was hopeful... Reinstalled update again.. loaded world.. No achievement. Ran world another 30-40 hours with update installed.. no achievement. What am I missing? Is microsoft support right? Is there something on Mojang's server end thats messing this up for me? If so I am screwed because Mojang support is non existant.
- Delete Everything (Game, Update, Saves, Save Info, Profile) - Or simply move them all to an external that can be removed.
- Clear Cache on any internal Drives ( Multiple times to be safe)
- Reinstall Base Game (Delete update if it came along with download)
- Make sure any external usb devices that contain anything to do with the game are not plugged in.
- Clear Caches again
- Re-Download Profile
- Make a NEW save in Unpatched Version.
- Play normally for a while and see if you get a popup saying you unlocked an avatar award like the T shirt ( As this indicates you are on the right track)
- Save and Exit Game
- Re-install Update
- Load your New world you created and either play normally for 40+ hours or idle.
This does not have to be in one setting, but must be same world. After idling while asleep I came back to find my internet had died and I was completely kicked from the game. I loaded the game back up where I left off hoping for the best. After Idling for the remainder of the 40 or so hours (probably only need 33ish as stated by others) I turned my tv back on and saw that I had a popup stating I had unlocked the watch avatar (Yet again) but this time I checked and the achievement had finally popped. On a side note.. I had my game running with the online game box checked this time. I don't know if that had any effect or not. I know on previous attempts I had tried while connected to xbl but I might not have actually had the game running as online and joinable, so better safe than sorry assuming this was the missing link. If you have seen any of my previous posts you can see that I tried many many variations of this method over 3 months time. Hopefully if you follow these steps exactly it works for you. Best of luck to anyone still struggling.
- remove minecraft, title update, worlds, savegame info, everything
- download minecraft again (I had only a digital copy, no disc)
- launch minecraft, install 700mb title update
- create new world, play for 15 minutes to create 'house' with door+window
- idle for ~30 hours (4-5 nights with console auto-turning off after 6 hours)
This morning I saw the achievement had popped. Finally!
Check your Awards (on the Xbox 360 guide under Achievements). If you have "A Minecraft Watch" unlocked and don't have the "Passing the Time" achievement, you'll need to delete the avatar award from your Xbox 360 console's storage device. Be sure to also clear the cache. After that, re-launch the game, create a new world (survival on peaceful), then keep your console on for about 33 hours.
You might need to try this while offline (no timestamp for the achievement), though you will need to make sure you have the latest title update downloaded.
@lightsup55 I will try that though. I've tried everything else. So, delete the avatar watch award from storage, clear cache, create new world and try. I'll give this a try after I finish helping somebody else out so I can have a fresh start and not bounce between other worlds.
Dec 20th: 36 day cycles ; 12hrs (and counting)
Dec 21: 67 day cycles ; 21hrs 20min
Dec 22: 101 day cycles ; 33hrs
No achievement :( The time played was a slight estimate but only off by 15-20min at most but the days plays should be accurate. I'll try and run it another hour tomorrow just in case but I'm thinking it didnt work for me at this point :(
Yes Awards are marked as unlocked or not on your profile, but part of unlocking an Award is installing it on your storage device. So perhaps for this game, deleting it fools the game into thinking it's not unlocked yet, so it re-unlocks the award and unlocks the achievement too.
As I'm writing this I'm realizing that I forgot to clear my cache before attempting this. Guess I'll be a guinea pig for whether that step is necessary or not.
The thing with the Awards in my case however were they came from the disc which contains TU9 if I remember right (which was long before the 100 days achievement). My nephew oddly has this exact same glitch too and only plays off my console. We had both played a massive amount before I had high speed internet though to get the game fully updated and the 100 days was the one that just never worked.
Guess we'll see in another day or two (or three). Good luck to you! I'll post if I get it and I'll update my previous post with the progress as I go :)
For what it's worth, my watch Avatar Award wasn't reinstalled either.
I'm going to let my 360 cool off for now, and try another attempt at some point this week with a cleared cache. Fingers crossed!
Interestingly, lightsup55 said you may need to do this fully offline. I'll give that a try next.
I used a mix of the posted fixes to get it to work. My game kept freezing every so often so it took about 4 days of idling with a wired controller, rubber banded to walk in broad circles. Main thing I did different(not sure if it made a difference or not) is use an old pre-update version of Minecraft from XBox Live Arcade that I luckily still had on my old 360. Older 360 - never online during process. Newer 360 - Always online during process(although did lose connection a few times, had to log back in or restart console).
1) Newer 360 - Moved Minecraft Update file and Gamer Profile to thumb drive, deleted everything else(worlds, Minecraft, cleared cache x3).
2) Loaded Gamer Profile onto old 360(no Update) and played for about 10 minutes, save/quit. Got a reward unlock notification after digging up some dirt by hand.
*Tried installing update file onto old 360, game would not load, no matter what I tried.
3) Moved pre-update Minecraft, New World Save, and Gamer Profile from old 360 HDD to newer 360. Cleared cache(3 times again, just to be thorough).
4) Loaded New World Save, had some issues loading, was prompted to re-download game, did so. Download froze about 2/3 way through, restarted console, was able to start Minecraft.
5) Loaded into Online New World Save, played for about 30 minutes, ate a cooked porkchop, got another reward unlock notification - good sign.
6) Left idle, checking every so often, and on last check, had notification I unlocked the Watch award. Cheevo finally popped.
Thanks everyone!
I took the watch off my avatar (which I apparently applied at one point).
Deleted the item from my history (had 2 for some reason).
Deleted saves from HDD (kept the ones on the cloud).
Cleared cache 3 times.
Reloaded game and installed update.
Started a new save (Survival, Easy).
Built a shelter and had a bunch of food on standby just in case.
(As I was digging dirt I had an avatar item pop up. Good sign)
Idled over 4 sessions the 33 hrs and it popped perfectly!
So glad it’s done and hopefully those steps help somebody else here.
started on the tutorial world on the newest update.
moved the update to a usb drive to get the original tutorial world back. (don't delete the update unless you want to wait 12 hours for it to download again) Made a save.
Moved the newest update back on the hard drive and loaded up the original tutorial world and worked on some of the achievements.
I went to sleep on one of the beds during this time so that may have effected glitching this achievement to popping.
Load up the game and reject the update ( this will load you up offline ) Start the tutorial and make a save. Once saved, go back to the dashboard, put the memory stick back in and load up as usual and then log back into your newly created (older version) tutorial world. Upon doing this my achievement popped as soon as I loaded in✅
1. Loaded up my game to make sure it was fully updated
2. Dashboarded and moved the update file to a USB drive
3. Removed the USB drive
4. Started the game, rejecting the prompt to update, so played offline
5. Started the tutorial and saved
6. Dashboarded, reinserted USB, and moved the update back to my hard drive
7. Played on the tutorial save
8. No achievement :(
I even tried waiting until night and sleeping, but that didn't seem to do anything.
For what it's worth, when I booted the game up for step 7, it didn't prompt me to choose a save, it just put me straight into the new tutorial world. Though afterwards I quit and played on my save of the old version's tutorial. The game also gave me popups about various blocks as I walked by them, so maybe this process made the game think I had never played before or something.
You'd need to use the 400 Gamerscore base game Tutorial world (i.e. no title update), Save & Exit, dashboard (exit the game entirely), relaunch Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, play the 400G Tutorial world you saved from earlier, then idle for 2,000 minutes (about 33 hours) in real time all over again. I've done this on another profile that also experienced this glitch. The achievement DID unlock as expected.
Step by step guide:
1) delete the 1.2 GB title update from Xbox 360 storage
2) disable Auto Downloads (via settings on the Xbox 360 dashboard)
3) disable Auto Shut Off (via settings on the Xbox 360 dashboard)
4) launch Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition again
5) DECLINE the title update (i.e. select NO)
6) load up the Tutorial (old 400 Gamerscore Tutorial world)
7) Save & Exit
8) exit Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (i.e. return to the Xbox 360 dashboard)
9) relaunch Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition again
10) ACCEPT the 1.2 GB title update (i.e. select YES)
11) wait for the title update to finish downloading
12) Load the old 400 Gamerscore Tutorial world which you saved from earlier (difficulty doesn't matter)
13) leave the game running for exactly 2,000 minutes (i.e. about 33 hours) while on that world
- Peaceful difficulty is best if you only need the Passing the Time achievement
Alternatively, use a USB flash drive to MOVE the 1.2 GB title update so you don't need to wait for it to redownload later. Follow the other steps accordingly.
EDIT: Eventually got this to work, didn't really do anything differently though I just came back the following two days and kept trying, clearing my cache before each attempt, and eventually it worked and I loaded into the new world. I then played shortly in this new world, before saving and exiting, reinstalling the Title Update, and then going back into the world, leaving idle for 33+ hours in two sessions, and then it finally popped while I was disconnected from Xbox Live.
I've played for 34-40 hours several times now using the method described by Lightsup55 without any luck. During each attempt there has been at least one crash where I had to restart the game. One attempt was done while disconnected from Xbox Live the whole time, where as all other attempts were done while connected.

Again These are the steps to follow only if you are experiencing a bug that prevents
the achievement from unlocking through normal means.

Thanks a lot!
I did one slightly different thing though, and that was I after re-starting the game for the first time (with LAN cable unplugged to ensure offline) i first set up a new world with my primary account (that needed the achievement), Did the roast pork thing, except i've already unlocked all awards and other achievements
Sooooooo I then loaded up a second account, did the same cooked pork thing and the award popped.
I then re-downloaded the update from scratch (i did not move/copy from external drive), and then as soon as i restarted the game with my primary account, on the newly saved file, the Achievement automatically popped (did not have to re-do the whole 33hrs idle).
Thanks again mate - nothing more painful than a single achievement that wont unlock to give 100%
Worse, I had tried to fix this by going on another box. But I think the issue is, some games like this have some sort of 'extra' storage, not directly on your profile or on some other branch of it, that is also external of Cloud Storage. It will sync them up along different boxes, based on which one is 'Newer'. Without you getting an option to say NO! to the damned thing.
So, I did the above on the box I originally played on, then it did the sync ("You last played this game on another box..."), and I think that ruined it the first time. So I repeated the steps, did another DL of my profile after deleting the first download attempt, played a bit in a created, Non-Tutorial world to have a few days saved in it. Then I got the updates by loading up the game with a secondary XBOX LIVE Gold account so it would do the update that way. Then I quit back out, switched to my main profile, then loaded up. And, since I was playing on the same box AFTER it "updated and sync'ed" whatever secondary data was there, it didn't do it again. Instead, when I loaded up my world, I *FINALLY* got this damned thing done.
Also of note, the syncing or whatever, with the original update prior to the 1.3GB title update, caused all my settings to be 0. Including control, so the right-stick wouldn't turn/move at all. Probably related to whatever was horribly broken with the Console Edition.
Removed thumbs down. It's obvious, but because it wasn't explained it was confusing. Silly me, right? Except this takes 33.3 hours and that's not something I want to repeat.
Simple enough process.
- Checked avatar awards for Minecraft 360. Had all of them, including the two watches (there are two because one is for male avatars and one is for female ones)
- My 360 is the S model that just came with the built-in 4 GB memory unit. I later upgraded it with a 120 GB hard drive. Most of my Minecraft data were on the hard drive.
- I deleted the data for the two watches, started a new game and idled with a wired controller for 33+ hours on a new survival/peaceful world. I spawned right next to a woodland mansion, ha. No achievement.
- I deleted the game and title update from the hard drive and moved all of the other save data to cloud storage. I also moved a couple saves that I had on the memory unit to cloud storage too. Cleared cache on both a few times.
- Re-downloaded Minecraft to hard drive. Disconnected from internet.
- The title update was included in the download. Deleted it.
- Opened the game. Started a new game. It crashed as soon as the world popped up.
- Started a new game again: survival, easy.
- I found a pig, killed it, built some tools and a furnace and cooked the meat. It said I got a t-shirt avatar award.
- Saved and quit. Re-connected to Xbox Live and started the game again. Let the title update download.
- Opened the game I’d saved in the unpatched version. Built a small house. While I was mining for stone and coal, the game said I’d earned a Gamerpic of Steve. Not sure what I did to get it. Figured that was good.
- Killed some chickens for feathers and spiders for string, and made a bow and arrows. Shot a Creeper with them. It said I’d unlocked a Creeper cap avatar award.
- Went back in the house and left the game on. I used a wired controller just in case.
- I’m away from home for the weekend, but checking my Xbox app I see that I got the achievement, nice.
Anyway, that’s what worked for me. Good luck to any still looking for this one. My unlock date for the avatar watch was in 2012 so I should have got this over 10 years ago!

You will get this normally if you play the game and don't sleep in a bed at night to skip to morning.
If you average 8 hours a day of mine craft you will have this achievement in 4 days of idling.
However, if you are just loading this up to sit in a corner you will want to play on peaceful while in an online game. Otherwise if you don't play online (and you have a wireless controller) your controller will turn off and the game will pause and once that happens the games paused and no more time shall elapse.
If you have friends who are jerks I suggest playing in an invite only game to keep any random deaths or problems from happening.
You will also want to have your settings set to an auto save preferably to the nearest 30 minutes to save your progress as well so none of your days are lost. If you lose Internet while in an online game it will be paused to switch to an offline lobby as well.
Only real problem with the pause screen is it overrides the ability to auto save until you back out of the screen. Having a wired controller just dims the screen forever until you touch it again. If you must (much like Mr Granstaff) keep the game running at all costs use a turbo for the A button or a rubber band to spin in circles with the joysticks.
I also recommend saving the game before you exit as well. On a side note this seems to be able to be done across multiple world's/seeds.
For anyone with an old world that you have played for months building that perfect castle, your dream home, or putting giant genitals and placing TnT in your friends world's you should get this as soon as your world loads up.
18 May 2015 04:18
I also set my autosave for 15 minute intervals, because I'm cautious like that.
Check your Awards (on the Xbox 360 guide under Achievements). If you have "A Minecraft Watch" unlocked and don't have the "Passing the Time" achievement, you'll need to delete the avatar award from your Xbox 360 console's storage device. The name of this achievement may look intimidating, but don't worry it's Minecraft days not real life days. It should take you about 33 hours in-game time to unlock this.
