How to unlock the Rainbow Collection achievement in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - Definitive Guide

(WARNING: Since the last title update, it is possible for a new world to not spawn a desert due to the new added biomes. So, make sure your world has a desert or you can't get this achievement! Also, jungles are less likely to be generated, but it's still possible to get brown wool from a brown sheep if necessary.)

I was messing around with the new flowers from Title Update 31, and in the end I decided it's best to just ignore the new flowers and focus on just the two original flowers, red and yellow. But if you pick up some other flowers, it certainly doesn't hurt!

Before you start crafting anything, you should collect the following:
-4 poppy
-2 dandelion
-3 cactus
-4 lapis lazuli
-2 ink sac
-2 bone
-1 cocoa beans
-16 white wool
-3 oak planks (or other fuel for smelting)
NOTE: If you come across a gray, light gray, brown or black sheep you can use their wool for the achievement instead of crafting it yourself.

Once you've collected all the necessary ingredients, follow these steps:
1. Smelt the cactus blocks in a furnace to get 3 "cactus green."
2. Save your game, just in case!
3. Make 2 yellow dyes using the dandelions.
4. Make 4 red dyes using the poppies.
5. Make 6 bone meals using the bones.
6. Make pink dye.
7. Make orange dye.
8. Make lime dye.
9. Make gray dye.
10. Make light gray dye using the FIRST option (gray dye + bone meal).
11. Make light blue dye.
12. Make cyan dye.
13. Make purple dye.
14. Make magenta dye using the FIRST option (purple dye + pink dye).
15. Now comes the fun part. Scroll over to the wool column and, starting with orange wool, go down the list crafting one of each wool until you reach white. If you did everything right, you now have one of each color with some dyes left over! Awesome!

There is a common glitch where the achievement doesn't pop when it should. If this happens to you, the best thing to do is throw all the wool blocks out of your inventory and pick them all back up at once.

Since the tutorial world chanced once more, this guide is by far the best. Thought a small list of the combinations you have to make would be even better. You've got my upvote already though.

Thanks. I'm hoping I can find some time to sit down and update the solution after experimenting with all the new flowers from the last update.

Can confirm, if you've made every color and haven't got the achievement, throw them all in a chest, break the chest, and it fixed it for me

Note: This solution may not work anymore due to many updates since this solution was made!

Okay so this solution is up to date as of 2017. The "Inspiration Room" no longer exists so all those guides that talk about it are invalid sorry to say. However, you can now easily get all of the wool in seconds from a chest in the new Tutorial World. The chest is located at X: -16, Y: 82, Z: -95 Once you have them all, you may need to drop them and then pick them all back up so the game registers it and gives you the achievement.

There is no need to mine the books. Go to the beacon and mine the emerald blocks beneath it. Simples :)

True but this is assuming no one has a higher grade pick axe.

The guy in the entrance booth exchanges his emeralds for paper instead of books in my tutorial. I reloaded a new tutorial afterwards and he was still asking for paper. Am I looking up the wrong villager or do I just need to reload the tutorial repeatedly until he asks for books?

I need to look into this again, but for the moment and until I get back to you, i'm assuming you need to make the paper deal first before he'll show you the rest of the stuff.

I've looked into it and what you need to do is just look in the chest to the right of his booth and get 32 pieces of paper, then trade that paper with him for an Emerald. Then back out of that menu and wait a few moments and he'll have a bunch more trades available including the 10 Books for and Emerald one.

Rainbow Collection - Gather all 16 colors of wool. - 20G

This one is going to be long run for you. You need to collect all 16 color dyes in the game. Some are easy to obtain, some aren't. I'll list them all down below.

Bone Meal - Made from one bone. Easy to get, kill a skeleton, go to crafting table and craft. I'd suggest getting a few of these.

Ink Sac - Killing Squids will always obtain this, killing one squid will drop between 1 to 3, you can also get 10 at once as a "junk" item while fishing, collect a few of these.

Gray Dye - This is only obtainable by going to the crafting table and having one Bone Meal and one Ink Sac, going to the crafting table and crafting it, it'll let you get two Grey Dyes

Light Gray Dye - This is only obtainable by going to the crafting table and having either - One Ink Sac and Two Bone Meal , Or - One Grey Dye and One Bone Meal.

Rose Red - Find a Rose, go to the crafting table and craft Rose Red Dye, it'll give you two of these. If you can't find any Roses, first, wow. Secondly, grab one bonemeal, and use cn_LT on some grass, this'll spawn some grass, Dandelions and Roses.

Dandelion Yellow - Grab a Dandelion and go to the Crafting Table and craft Dandelion Yellow, if you can't find any Dandelions, grab one bonemeal, and use cn_LT on some grass, this'll spawn some grass, Dandelions and Roses.

Orange Dye - Only Craftable with one Rose Red and one Dandelion Yellow.

Cactus Green - Find some Cactus, they are usually on Sand. Go to a furnace and smelt it. The fuel you use to smelt doesn't matter. You will get one Cactus Green. Be sure to make two.

Lime Dye - Only Craftable by having one Bone Meal and one Cactus Green.

Lapis Lazuli - To obtain Lapis Lazuli, you need to go mining, this Ore seems to be the second rarest ore to spawn for me. I can't really help with finding it as minecraft randomly generates worlds. Breaking the ore will drop a lot of Lapis Lazuli. You better hope it dropped at least Five. We will need the other four for four other dyes.

Light Blue Dye - You will need one Lapis Lazuli and One Bone Meal

Cyan Dye - You will need one Lapis Lazuli and one Cactus Green.

Purple Dye - You will need one Lapis Lazuli and one Rose Red

Pink Dye - You will need one Rose Red and one Bone Meal

Magenta Dye - There is three ways to make this Dye
1. Purple Dye + Pink Dye
2. Lapis Lazuli + Bone Meal + 2 Rose Red
3. Pink Dye + Rose Red + Lapis Lazuli
I suggest the third method.

Cocoa Beans - Luckily the 360 version has Jungles. Head to a jungle and you will see some orange pods hanging from Trees, destroys these for an sum amount of Cocoa Beans.

Now, to get wool, you need to find sheep of the white colour, craft a Shear and go up to the sheep and shear them, this gives around 1-3 wool, rather than the regular 1 from killing a sheep. Collect 16.

Head into the crafting table and craft all the wool you need for each dye. Achievement Unlocked!

Just to confirm, this does not have to be on one world - i got the achievement across multiple as I had an older save without a Jungle biome which prevented me getting the brown wool :)

You do know you can get light blue, pink and magenta dyes directly from individual flowers, don't you? (Light blue orchids, peonies, lilacs, I forget if the last two are in the right order or not.) Same applies to orange (orange tulips).

Also, it tends to be easier to find brown sheep than cocoa beans in most worlds. I usually farm some sheep and breed them for certain colours if I can't find the right flowers: white sheep + black sheep create grey lambs, white+grey create light grey lambs, white+red create pink lambs, red+yellow create orange lambs, red+blue create purple lambs, & white+blue create light blue lambs. Sometimes you'll get a lamb that inherits the colour of a parent directly, you only need to breed for another lamb then. :)

This can also be gotten by breaking a chest that contains all 16 colors of wool and then picking them up. I tested this in my achievement world and it worked perfectly.

If you want to do this in your own world, here is the way that I found easiest. It is probably easiest if you build a fenced area or hole in which to contain your sheep. I am assuming you will sheer any sheep that you make. You can craft a sheer with a couple pieces of iron.

color 1, find some white sheep, feed them grain so you have plenty of white sheep
color 2 either find a black sheep or kill a squid to get ink, apply ink to a white sheep and it becomes black
color 3 give wheat to a black sheep and a white sheep, this makes a gray sheep
color 4 give wheat to gray sheep and a white sheep, this makes a light gray sheep

color 5 and color 6
go find some red flowers and yellow flowers. go to crafting table and make red dye and yellow dye
dye a sheep red, dye a sheep yellow

color 7 either craft the red and yellow dye together, or mate the red and yellow sheep to make an orange sheep. if you made orange dye, apply it to a sheep

color 8 mate red sheep with a white to make pink sheep
color 9 go grab some cactus from a sandy place, put cactus in your oven and it makes green dye. dye a sheep green with it
color 10 mate the green sheep with a white sheep, to make limesheep

color 11 go mine underground a bit, you will find lapis, use lapus to make a blue sheep
color 12 mate blue sheep with white to make a light blue sheep
color 13 craft lapis with green dye to make cyan dye, then dye a sheep cyan or mate a blue and green sheep.
color 14 craft lapis with red dye to make purple dye, then dye a sheep purple or mate a blue and red sheep
color 15 either craft purple and pink dye or mate purple and pink sheep to make magenta sheep

color 16 In jungles, there is a cocoa growing on trees, grab one of those, and apply seeds to a sheep to make brown sheep

If you have bones from skeletons, you can craft bone meal, and also use that to make light versions of sheep rather than mating with a white sheep. The dyes on the crafting is under decorations(the far right tab) and the fourth one in that starts as a yellow droplet. If you mate the sheep, you would sheer or mate the baby once it becomes big.

As of the 12/2016 holiday update:
Start the tutorial and press cn_B to bypass the tutorial so you can walk easily out of the gateway.
Head through the gate and keep going straight out to the following coordinates...
X: -17, Y: 82, Z: -95
You can find the coordinates by using the map you spawn in with.

For this achievement you will need several pairs of shears, as well as making several dyes in the crafting table. Note that white, brown, gray and black wool can be found naturally on sheep.

Alternatively, if you have a friend who has all of the colors of wool, you can just take the friend's pieces of wool & then put them down and pick them up.

The colors of wool and their required materials are:
- White- The most common type of wool and can be found on most sheep.
- Red- Roses
- Yellow- Yellow flowers
- Green- Cactus
- Blue- Lazpiz Lazuli Ore
- Light Blue- Lapiz Lazuli Ore & Bone Dye
- Magenta- Combining purple & pinke dye
- Pink- Red dye & bone dye
- Light Gray- 2 bone meal & an ink sac
- Black- Ink sac
- Brown- Cocoa beans
- Cyan- Green dye & Lapis Lazuli
- Purple- Red dye & Lapis Lazuli
- Gray- Ink sac & bone dye
- Lime- Green dye & bone dye
