How to unlock the Taste of Your Own Medicine achievement in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - Definitive Guide

Taste of Your Own Medicine - 20G (Requires Title Update 48)

Difficulty: Medium

Estimated Period of Time: Varies
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To get this Achievement, load up the new Elytra Tutorial. Head into the village and turn right to find the Fireworks and Potions area at the coordinates: X: 4, Y: 79, Z: -41. Open the chest in the Potion area to get an Empty Bottle, Nether Wart, and Blaze Powder. Fill a Bottle with water from the nearby cauldron of water.

Next you'll have to do some hunting. Make sure you are on Easy or Harder and kill a Creeper without it exploding to get Gunpowder. Then find Spiders and kill them until you get a Spider Eye (NOT Fermented Spider Eyes) Once you have these, return to the Brewing Stand at the Potion area.

EDIT: You can get Gunpowder from the Fireworks chest next to the Potion area at: X: 0, Y: 79, Z: -32. Thanks to LuckyKacper2005 for the info.

EDIT: Sweet Rung has found a Spider Spawner at the coordinates: X: -60 Y: 70 Z: -93

Enter the Brewing Stand interface and put the Blaze Powder in the upper left corner slot as the heat source. Next put the Bottle of Water in the first of the 3 lower slots, then put the Nether Wart in the top slot. Wait until the arrow fills and the Bottle of Water will become an Awkward Potion. Next replace the Nether Wart spot with the Spider Eye and the Awkward Potion will become a Potion of Poison. Next replace the Spider Eye slot with Gunpowder to get a Splash Potion of Poison.

With this in hand simply find a Witch (looks like a green villager with a pointy hat) and throw the potion at her. It may take a while to find a witch but once she sees you she will throw poison potions at you to give herself away.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Thanks to LordFightALot a solution has been found for anyone that was trapped with relocked Achievements on the day of Title Update 48's release! Do as follows and there is a 99% of it working!

"This is exactly what I did:
1. Start up the Xbox (it auto signed in for me)
2. Manually sign out of your profile on the Xbox dashboard.
3. Launch Minecraft.
4. Press Play Game
5. A popup appears and asks you to sign in. Press Yes [I want to sign in].
6. The achievements popped right away on the world selection screen."

If this worked for you, don't thank me, go thank LordFightALot!

Are you certain a witch spawns around that Hut you mentioned? I just spent some time around there, leaving and coming back at different times of day, and haven't seen one yet. I imagine it's all entirely random, but I haven't seen a witch in the Tutorial world once yet.

I spent 3 hours on tutorial world exploring entire map, and still have not found witch.

I have not seen a witch near that hut, but that is a possible place to find her. I found 2 witches yesterday, one during a thunderstorm in the middle of the starting village but I did not have my potion on hand at the time. The other was in the middle of the jungle/woods probably 50-100 spaces east of the witch's hut. It's all pure luck finding one.

Thank you for the Gunpowder info Lucky, however I searched the underwater city and only found Skeletons. Following the Minecraft Wiki, Witches only spawn in darkness and at random locations like other mobs, in witch hut's, or in villages during a thunderstorm as they take the place of a villager after a lightning strike. You must have found a lucky spawn in darkness down there.

I believe you as it's obviously there, but i've gone there myself and there was nothing there. It's a random spawn for your game specifically.

Doesn't really make it any easier, but will save a little time. I just saved my game as it was turning night time, and would run around trying to find a witch. If it turned daytime with no luck I'd exit the game and reload so I didn't have to wait for night time again.

I also found her on the underwater city. As it seems that she mostly spawn on large areas, I took all the lanterns on the bigger rooms and ran around till she appears on the potion/pool area.

Well everyone, we've had two people have luck in the underwater city's pool area. So that may be the best choice.

Had two Witches spawn after around 3 hours of painful searching. Remember to save before you throw your potions. First one didn't trigger the achievement for me (I think that's down to the witch hitting themselves first with poison), hit save then died a few seconds after. Managed to claw my way around to the other one and hit them with my backup potion as he killed me laugh

Absolute pure luck I think though. I doubt the Witches hut is a valid spawn (as looking at the wiki seems to suggest there needs to be certain criteria being met when a world spawns, and these are all likely created for the purpose of the tutorial world) but maybe it does helps.

What are the coordinates for the entrance to the underwater city?

By DaYlightDies22 on 04 Feb 2017 23:49
Not sure on the Coordinates, but the entire SW corner of the map is water and it's under there. If you couldn't find the entrance like me, just swim down and break into the building from the glass roof. Then turn around and plug the hole with a random block. (You may need to put a block next to the hole and then plug the hole by building off the previous block)

The "above ground" entrance is at X: -281, Y: 62, Z: 201 for the Underwater City

Also if you want to save a Witch for others (aka for an achievement world), just use a name tag on it and will never despawn.

You can ask Gruntilda roaming around my world's Underwater City how well that's working lol

I made a save outside of the underwater city. loaded it, ran three laps around it, and each time a new enemy would spawn by the pool area. if i didn't encounter a witch during my three laps, then i'd reload. i had to reload a LOT but i eventually found a witch in this area.

Just my luck, I find a spider spawner right next to the city as soon as I spend a few nights hunting down a spider eye. The coords are X: -60 Y: 70 Z: -93.

I tried @bean is not pro's method for a while with no luck. I then quit my game put the difficulty on hard and the first time I went into the underwater city a witch was there in the area where there is a bed. Hope this helps.

The "spider spawner" was zombies for me, unless it's random with each new world.

Seriously guys, don't dislike my solution because of the spawners. I never said anything about them, that's all of you misleading yourselves. Please stop leaving information unless you are sure of it.

I will also state that I was having a hard time finding a witch on the tutorial world as well. Reading the comments was really helpful, as i had not explored the map and found the underwater city prior. I found the "pool" area in the underwater city that was talked about above, destroyed ALL the light sources in the room, and the light sources in the hallways leading to the pool area. Replaced any open light sources with blocks to prevent water from coming in. On my second "lap" around the city, i had a witch spawn in the hallway just before the pool area. I was on easy setting.

I recommend buzz9neo's suggestion of breaking the lights in the underwater hallways. A witch spawned for me with this method.

Found a witch hut in the aqua world while rowing back to the village. Coordinates: X-115 Y:67 Z-32 these are the coordinates for the witch hut. You’ll know your in the right area because there’s a giant witch statue in the area.

It should also be noted that you may need to go up a waterfall to get to this area. Be sure to save your game before attempting this just in case you miss or the witch kills you.

Note: The other guides give great explanations on how to get the potion that’s why I didn’t put up the recipe for it.

If you give a thumbs down please explain why in the comments.

This is for the Xbox 360 version with aquatic update. If your using Xbox one these coordinates will be bad for you. TheFlaminBean try going near those coordinates & looking around, you should see a waterfall somewhere that you can swim & find a witch at the top.

Perfect spot. All of the potion ingredients except the spider eye are in the tutorial chests (most in potions chest, gunpowder the floor above in the fireworks chest).

Is this tutorial world? Or custom seed? How do I access Aqua world.

@Folly1 as far as I know aqua world was the last update for the 360 version of minecraft. I used tutorial world for this achievement. If you feel it’s worth noting on my solution please say so & I’ll add it.
