How to unlock the The Haggler achievement in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - Definitive Guide

Find a village and trade items for emeralds. Before trading any items make sure to save your game this way you can reload the same game to keep trading until you net the achievement.

It helps to trade the villagers easy to get items that won't make you spend to many hours collecting such as white wool, cooked fish, wheat, and arrows.

You should be able get the achievement after you purchase 30 emeralds.

If you want to mine them it'll take longer but that is an option too. You will also want a pickaxe with the fortune enchantment to get more from a single block. Take into account you need a newer world that had been created after the emerald update.

Doing this achievement in the tutorial is probably the easiest way because you get one emerald for the first house on the way to the enchantment room.

Then while in the enchantment room grab the axe from the chest and wreck all the book cases. After that run to the first castle and you can grab 7 more before heading to the librarian in that castle. Once you find him save in front of the librarian villager and trade him the book, then exit and reload about 3 or 4 more times.

The current tutorial world has a simple setup to help with this.

Load up the tutorial world, go forward and turn left where the two trading villagers are. In the chest are some paper and emeralds. Take them, and then trade with the villager on the right (wearing white). He will trade you an emerald for your paper. He will also trade you items for emeralds.

Even though the description states that you need to mine them or purchase them, trading the emeralds AWAY to the villager also works. It's easier than they say it is. So when you have the emeralds, trade them back to him, and it will count for the achievement.

If you don't get it, quit out and restart the tutorial world as needed.

This didn't work for me. It may have been patched. I had to actually trade for emeralds. Still wasn't tough in the tutorial world.

Really? I did it about a month ago. Might have been a different version though. That sucks though.

All credits go to Finnisher JvB's comment. Thats what i did:

I was going to search some Sugar cranes and i found a NPC Village and a Villager who gives 1 emerald for 18 wheat, so i collected the wheat in the Village and i got for 56 wheat 3 emeralds, just Save before you Trade and then just Quit without Saving and reload like 10 Times and you will get the achievement. But you have to be Lucky to get one of Those Villager. Hope this helps you out!

Okay so this solution is up to date as of 2016. The "Inspiration Room" no longer exists so all those guides that talk about it are invalid sorry to say. When ready, load up the new Tutorial World.

First head to the enchantment shop and use the Axe inside the chest to destroy all the bookshelves. Collect all the books (and any other books if you know their locations, I found a castle of sorts in the North West area of the map on top of a large mountain, and two rooms were filled with bookshelves).

Once you have all your books, head back to the starting town and trade with the villager trapped behind the booth at the entrance by pressing LT on him. Do the trade of 32 Paper for an Emerald (you can get 32 Paper in the chest directly next to the booth itself) and then back out of the menu and wait. After a few moments he will update his trades and you can trade 10 Books for 1 Emerald until he runs out of stock, then press B to back out and begin trading with him again. He will have more Emeralds to trade for books so do so. You will need 30 Emeralds to get the Achievement.

For the tutorial world after Title update 69 Aquatic Update:

Start a new tutorial world.

Run forward on the path, shortly before you get to the giant diamond pickaxe, there will be a row of sugarcane on the left, punch and collect it.

Return to the path and continue in the direction you were going before. On your right you will pass a gate with an emerald picture frame on top, remember this spot as you need to come back to it later.

Continue on the path until you see six brightly colored blocks with pictures on them. Behind the left three is a staircase, go down it. At the bottom turn right and go a short distance until you are at the set of wooden stairs going up. At the top of the stairs turn left into a doorway and make another left up a set of stone steps. Once as the top turn behind you and open the chest for the fireworks tutorial, take the stack of 64 paper.

Open the crafting table to the right of the chest. Hit the left bumper once to switch to the "Decorations" tab. Craft all the sugarcane into paper (it's the second from the right box).

Now return to where the emerald picture frame is. Enter the gate under the picture, open the chest in front of you and take the 32 paper. You should have two stacks of 64 paper and one stack of 32+. Don't worry if you are short some it just means you will have to reload a few extra times.

Enter the house just past and to the left of the chest you were just at. Stand in front of the villager with the white clothes. Save your game now!

After you have saved your game, press LT on the villager hold A to trade him your paper for emeralds (you should get 5). Now exit the game without saving. Reload that save, trade with the villager, exit without saving 5 more times for your achievement. (If you had less paper this may take a few extra reloads.)

Emeralds are a form of currency that you use to trade with villagers. Wild emeralds are incredibly rare to come across, so this achievement will be much easier to obtain by trading with the villagers. To trade with villagers, you must go up to one and hit ; there will then be a menu that shows what the specific villager wants and what he's willing to trade for. Some of the villagers will offer emeralds for goods, others won't. Do this 30 times and the achievement will pop.

Alternatively, you can get emeralds in the Tutorial World, as there is a trading tutorial in it. You can trade the paper in the chest for 2 emeralds. Start a new tutorial and repeat this for a total of 15 times for the achievement.
