How to unlock the The Beaconator achievement in Minecraft - Definitive Guide

To create and fully power a beacon you will need to complete two separate tasks. The first is to construct a beacon itself which requires a Nether Star. The Nether Star is dropped from the Wither after he is killed and is a 100% drop rate.

The second part requires collecting enough materials to build the pyramid. They can be built from Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emeralds or a combination of all 4. The pyramid is 4 levels tall and must be made of Blocks, ie Iron Block, Gold Block etc. Here is the full list of materials.

Layer 1 - 9x9 square of blocks. 729 Iron/Gold Ore or Emeralds/Diamonds
Layer 2 - 7x7 square of blocks. 441 Iron/Gold Ore or Emeralds/Diamonds
Layer 3 - 5x5 square of blocks. 225 Iron/Gold Ore or Emeralds/Diamonds
Layer 4 - 3x3 square of blocks. 81 Iron/Gold Ore or Emeralds/Diamonds

This leaves a 1 block space at the top of the pyramid for the Beacon itself. You must then sacrifice 1 Iron Bar, 1 Gold Bar, 1 Emerald or 1 Diamond to power the pyramid. You must also select your Pyramid Effect when you do this. Powering the pyramid via the Beacon block will unlock the achievement.

I haven't attempted to unlock recently. I will update if I can reproduce this issue. I often find these achievements seem to lag unlocking.

I'm not sure if you can actually mix and match the different materials. I built the first three layers from iron and the last one from gold and while the beacon was fully powered the achievement didn't pop. Replacing the last layer with iron fixed it.

I recently ran into some minor similar issues. I found that rebuilding the pyramid from scratch layer by layer fixed my unlock issues. Make sure you have crafted a beacon as well and not used one someone else made.

I've rebuilt beacons countless times. I even imported the tutorial world from the Xbox One Edition for this and it still didn't work. I'm beginning to wonder If I will ever unlock this one.

I had a hard time getting this to unlock. After building a beacon once a day, I tried something different. I built it from the ground up, full size. Made a new beacon, and paid for each buff with a diamond. After I bought all of them I switched between the heart and the last one (multiple times being kind of annoyed) I purchased, during that it unlocked. Good luck.

I went for all iron and it popped a few seconds after I had placed my last iron block. If powered it previously so not sure if that helped. And I built it from the top later down. Good luck!

What worked for me was leaving out one block from the top nine, placing the beacon so that it was not powered, and then placing the last block. A few seconds after the beacon powered up the achievement popped

It worked for me once I destroyed the top layer and then placed it back down. What is weird though is that on Xbox it says I have done it and it popped on screen for me, yet it says I haven't done it yet on TA.

I just got this achievement. I tried with all iron but it didn’t pop. I then tried iron on the bottom, gold, emerald and then diamond and that popped the achievement for me. Hope this helps

I used a mix of all blocks in an Xbox One Tutorial world that I imported. Maybe something some(not all, obviously) people are missing is that although there appears to be a second layer built in the tutorial, its actually hollow and needs to be filled in. Killed and replaced the beacon and it popped no problem. But I used 5 Gold Blocks along with 70+ of Emerald and Diamond blocks mismatched together and it worked.

Import tutorial world from Xbox one edition. Then load up the world and in the middle of town is a beacon that's at level 1. There are two towers with rings of emerald, diamond, and gold blocks on them. Build scaffolding with your block of choice to collect the blocks and finish the pyramid to level 4. All levels of the pyramid must be made of iron, gold, diamond, or emerald. When done break and reattach beacon block and POP. Your done.
Edit: I forgot to add that you need to sacrifice an ingot to the beacon when your done. Happy hunting!

In case anyone else is having the same issue...

I couldn't unlock this in the tutorial world by breaking and using the existing beacon block after trying MANY different pyramid block configurations, but when I took the beacon inside the item frame above the door and used that instead, it popped immediately.

You can create a new tutorial world and import, you just have to complete the tutorial portion in the old minecraft version before you import.

Thanks to Gstachelek comment above, i was able to finally get this to work. I used the beacon that was in the item frame and got the achievement 10 sec later. removing and reinstalling the one already there wasn't working for me.

I looked and tried all comments I could find. None of which I could get to work. Then I noticed people saying the imported tut world still pops it, which made me wonder what is different between the two. The only thing I could think of was difficulty. I then turned it from peaceful to easy, removed the top layer (9 blocks and beacon) and replaced. After I chose my buff, it popped. Hopefully, this helps you..

Just confirmed difficulty has to be set to easy not peaceful.

The Tut world still works as of 5-7-21. Just need to finish bottom 3 layers.

Angry Zomboss, this isn't true. I've gotten achievements on an imported tutorial world today. This isn't a newly made map, so it's possible you can't create a NEW tutorial world and get achievements, but if you have an old one, it still works.

I tried both beacons and rearranged different kinds of blocks. Switched around buff and nothing worked. Finally went back to xbox one version. Created a new tutorial world, did the iron block chest respawn until I had 3 stacks. Imported the world and built the pyramid with all iron starting at ground level. Added beacon from frame and it unlocked without me adding a buff.

All you need to do is go to the tutorial and find the beacon. The requirements for the beacon is 9×9, 7×7, 5×5, 3×3, and then the Beacon. You can definitely mine the already made beacon with a pickaxe. I used a stone pickaxe. Basically just go and get an iron pickaxe from a chest and go to the gold rings and mine the gold blocks and emerald blocks. Not to mention the diamond blocks by the beacon. All those blocks work for a beacon. You do not need only one type of block, you can use many.
