How to unlock the Big Fly Ohtani San! achievement in MLB The Show 22 - Definitive Guide

This is very easy to do with Ohtani with the Angels, there is no need to create or edit a player.

Game Settings
- Type: Exhibition
- Teams: [H] Rangers [A] Angels
- Stadium: Fenway Park (shortest right field porch)
- Choose any date or time, just make sure the weather is clear

Execution
- Move Angels DH Justin Upton from 5th in the lineup to 1st (leadoff)
- Start game
- Before a pitch is thrown, make a substitution. (START > MANAGER > SUBSTITUTION)
- Substitute (Pinch Hit) Ohtani for Upton, clicking YES to the warning of forfeiting the DH
- Bat with Ohtani as the first batter of the game
- If you do not get a home run in the first at bat, simply restart the game (START > EXIT > CONFIRM RESTART)
- On restart, insure that you re-make the substitution of Upton for Ohtani

You choose the Rangers because they are the lowest ranked team that starts with a right-handed pitcher, and Ohtani bats left. Any team that starts with a RP would work just fine. Astros with Verlander is an example.

As soon as you hit the home run, you get the achievement so no need to ever even pitch with Ohtani. It took me just two restarts to pop the achievement on rookie dynamic level.

You dont even have to start Othani as a pitcher. Jist start him as the DH

I can confirm a few things. HRs in HR derby with Ohtani don’t count. Inside the park home runs don’t count (did this at polo grounds before a outside the park HR). Ohtani doesn’t have to pitch in the game the HR is hit (I started him at DH).

If you don’t want to restart every time you fail to hit the home run, you can player lock (RT) Ohtani on the lineup screen so that you only play his at-bats throughout the game

To save a little time and cut down on the setting swapping, this achievement is obtainable by doing a moment in the Babe Ruth program found in Diamond Dynasty.

Navigate to Diamond Dynasty -> Play -> Programs -> Other Programs -> Starter Babe Ruth -> Moments -> Ohtanison Wins MVP

In the moment you're player locked as Shohei Ohtani (you will play as Ohanti - only taking his at bats and pitching) and the goal is to get one hit and pitch two innings, however for this achievement you will need to hit a homerun. If the moment is completed without hitting a homerun it can be infinitely replayed.

The moment is set on Rookie difficulty, Ohtani immediately bats (if no homerun is hit, it is possible to just restart the moment by the pause menu then going to Exit -> Confirm Restart - there is no need to pitch unless you're wanting to complete the moment).

As for the hitting of a homerun, look for a pitch up in the strike zone and power swing away until Ohtantison gets a dinger.

If a thumbs down is left, please explain why in the comments for further help.

Took me a couple tries but the easy reset makes this a great method to get it quickly. If you manage to get a perfect swing and a homerun on his first at bat you actually can unlock 3 achievements.

@Clankk OG It certainly surprised me when the achievements popped, wasn't expecting them there as I was just grinding through the program. Happy surprise nonetheless. :)

This achieve is worded weirdly but I can confirm simply homering with Shohei Ohtani will make it pop. I just did it in exhibition.

Select exhibition.
Select Angels as team.
Remove Ohtani as starting pitcher.
Bat Ohtani 1st as an outfielder.
I swang with B, but that isn’t needed. I hit like 4 home runs during the whole game with him.

Yeah, this worked great for me. I put Ohtani 1st in the lineup, had the Angels as the Away team, and if Ohtani didn't hit the homer in the at bat, I just restarted the game and tried again 10 seconds later.

Unfortunately this achievement cannot be unlocked in Home Run Derby and a inside the park HR also does not count. I tried with my cousin yesterday and it didn’t unlock. I believe that it has to be a valid HR. Easier way to get this is to play on Polo Grounds with Ohtani and aim for the shorter side of the park.

Select the LA Angels as the away team and choose any pitcher to start other than Ohtani. Next select Ohtani off the bench and place him at the top of the lineup in LF (replacing that current starter).

Once the game starts make sure you are using button-x.png when you swing for power. If you don't hit a home run with Ohtani, restart the same game and keep at it till you do. Once he homers the achievement will unlock.
